This is probably the most inspiring movie I've ever seen and has been since I first saw it at the age of 10 in 1961. Magnificent movie in every way, on all levels. The story, the direction, the performances, the unbelievably great score, the cinematography, and the editing are all first rate. I've seen this movie again and again and I still love it every time I see it.
My God. This part is simply stunning. Perfect finale for a movie about Jesus. Not direct depiction, epic and spiritual chorus and His shadow forming a cross. "Even until the end of the world". Simply a perfect representation of the Gospel. Makes me cry every time like for a Stendhal syndrome.
When I was ten years old (1961) my father took our family to San Francisco to see the premiere of the movie, KING of KINGS. I remember the chills I received when Jesus healed those that were sick. Yet it wasn't til March 22, 1975 that I believed and was saved.
Yeah Jesus being the Son of God, and the Saviour of the world was certainly capable of handling it all which He did. I noticed Him exhale but I had never thought about it quite that way. He is Love and was willing to suffer but I'm sure He was relieved to have that complete.
I have watched this movie many times and at least once a year and I had never noticed.. thank you and yes what a symbolic meaning as if saying indeed.. It is finished. His first mission is over.. his second and last soon to come.
@camf33 to me it's the most amazing series based on Jesus. They show "what could have happened" as far as what else was going on. Also they portrayed Jesus as a person. Not some untouchable dressed in white sterile human.
As a child the message of this movie helped to inspire me and my love of Jesus. From the magnificent musical score to the actors to the cinematography, it touched my soul. My opinion has not changed now as an adult. And although other movies have been created about Jesus' life (some very fine movies)it is this one, in particular for me, that was a masterpeice.
Great Classic movie with Jeffrey Hunter and Royal Dano's face says it all at the end of the movie! Fantastic music and great actors through out the movie. Also, Orson Welles with that powerful voice! Jesus' shadow forms the sign of the cross with the fishing nets.
I liked when he told his disciples to feed his sleep for they are in all the nations and go forth and preach the gospe for all that hunger for it, and for he is with them always even untill the end of the world. That part always makes me cry.😢 😭 ✝️
What Miklos Rozsa did between 1958 (when he started to score "Ben~Hur") and 1961, with "King of Kings" and "El-Cid" is off the charts. There's nothing like it in Hollywood history, and in just ~3 years. His personal favorite was "Cid", I believe. "Hur" is the most famous. But, I'm with you... "Kings" is tops.
Jesus I’m not prefect. Please continue to motivate me to help others to the best of my ability! And please continue to bless me to do your work always AMEN!!!!! 🙏🏽🙏🏽🙏🏽
All these years, since youth, I have been watching this movie. And now, for the first time, at the end of this movie, why Jesus Christ is standing above the net left by the disciples. Christ the Lord makes himself a cross to let the whole world know, men who desire to come to the Father, must come through through his Son at the cross. Look at it again! Praise be to the Lord, the Son of the Living God; my Lord and my God!
bendito mi Señor,solamente una cosa he pedido ,que arrebate mi vida , predicando su palabra , en las calles o en un pulpito , don de El lo desee , pero predicando su palabra
At the end, it gave me the impression that Pedro was in doubt as to whether or not he would continue with the others. But when he saw that everyone had left, he decided to go too. Maybe it's just my impression.
It's a very beautiful scene and a great portrayal of Jesus. However, first century Jews in Palestine, the Middle-East, were neither white-skinned nor blue-eyed. The real Yeshua of Nazareth was almost certainly brown-skinned, black-haired and dark-eyed. Unfortunately, I guess an actor who physically resembled Yeshua would not be palatable to white audiences and white Christians.
Do you get upset at statues or paintings of Buddha in East Asian countries that depict him as Oriental, when Siddhartha Gautama was Indian? Or any depictions of "Black Jesus"? Besides, showing him with blue eyes in movies emphasizes on an artistic level how he stands out from other people. Who knows if he even might've had blue eyes via genetic mutation?
@@Dragblacker If Jesus had blue eyes amongst a population that had brown, don't you think something as 'spectacular' as that would have been recorded in all major historical literature?
@@WillScarlet1991 Well first off, much of the literature from those days (historical and otherwise) have been lost until recent decades. And second, I was speaking about film-making.
This part gives me chills! Great movie about our lord Jesus

To this day no movie has a better score like this one does.
+Brian Buchanan It's amazing. I can watch this film with the sound off and the only the score playing and I still would enjoy it.
Miklos is now conducting a heavenly orchestra
Echoes of Elvis come to mind... Add all other movie scores and still don't match this one's power.. 👍 😍
I watched the 1977 Jesus of Nazaret and is fantastic, so I tried to see King of Kings but is not available, so I don't how good it is.
Miklos Rosza 👏
This scene always gives me chills
The most amazing score ever composed.
It truly is. It can even get to non believers I never get through it with a dry eye never have
Very impressive piece of music, it does stir the soul even to a cynic like me.
Definitely. Brilliant film.
Yes Yes Yes....Hosanna!!!!!
This may top Ben Hur score wise
Never fails to give me the chills. Easter Sunday 2024 ❤
Hard to believe they don't let us see this 1961 movie free online. Needed now more than ever.
I agree. this is a great movie. I love the ending, gives me the chills
It is copyrighted work. It used to be here in 13 parts a long time ago, but was taken down due to copyright.

He was the Best One.
It moves me when i see the fishermen go separate ways to fulfill a mission.

I like how he almost exhaled a "sigh of relief" at 1:37. As if to say, "I'm done here for now."

Such a powerful scene.
BEST EPIC ENDING, LOVE HOW THEY ONLY SHOWS HIS SHADOW CASTING OVER THE BEACH. LIKE HE HAS NOTHING TO PROVE.
A very powerful scene of Jesus ascending into heaven
not sure how to top that ending esp for the year it was done. simple but amazing.
The music.. no words. Just superb. I remember this great movie from when I first saw it. Maybe 1964. ❤️❤️❤️❤️
