  • When you are out holidaying in the far regions of Thailand, it is always good to rent a car. Launch your Google Maps and start exploring the restaurants around your hotel, pick one and just go for it. You can always find something pleasant.
Baan Tha Ley Cafe is located on the costal roads west of Krabi. The wooden stairs at the restaurant leads directly down to the shore. There are a couple of mangrove tress out in the water that made the setting picturesque. It is a great place for sunset and they have raised walkways that offered a high vantage point. We dined while engulfed by the gentle monsoon breeze coming onshore under the cloudy rain-free night. Enjoyed the gentle distinct Thai vocals of the singer accompanied by his melodic strumming of the guitar.
They really know their pasta well and was one of the best we have had for a while in this country. The pesto was generous and flavorful on the capellini, and the cream was rich on the penne with shrimp. That said, their Capellini Pesto Sauce & Shrimp and Penne with Shrimp & Ebiko Cream Sauce were very good. The other dish we had was their grilled prawns on skewers. It was perfectly cooked, with the succulent meat still retaining the bounce of full bodied whiteness charred at the right spots by the intensity of the heat.
According to their pages, they open everyday form 10 AM to 10 PM. So, one could be here for all purposes, be it coffee lunch, tea or dinner. Best time here will be for a sunset dinner when there is still light.
