Dude, your challenge to grandmaster videos are a unique entertainment product that I tried and failed to find a replacement for while they were gone. I'm so glad they're back, they're just such a wonderful combination of fun individual games plus an ongoing storyline as you challenge different races at different ratings, all tied together with an incredibly entertaining personality.
As someone who mostly only plays terran and only really watches Terran RUclipsrs. I'm for it too. Mark obviously became my favorite content creator and he is making me want to play protoss now.
With the new patch i hope we get away from cheese ASAP. The fun part of watching X unit to GM was that therm had to learn the weaknesses of the unit compositions in the 4000MMR range and then the fun part was seeing how far he could get in MMR once he mastered the builds for the unit comps. Ghost to GM was brilliant because he could actually lose games to 4000MMR players as he was still tweaking the build order heavily every game. "Cheese" to GM makes no sense to me personally, its literally following build orders with any unit possible.
I've been using yt since basically it's inception and have never subscribed to a channel... until this one. It's the only channel that i actually want to get notified of releases for and skew my algo heavily towards. Your content is just so fun and your energy is contagious. Keep being awesome!
Had a good chuckle seeing that 12 gate vr all in vs terran. Gave me good memories of the 5 minute oracle timing off a 12 gate back in HoTS. I would have played Toss main if all my opponents were Terran :D
As someone who doesn't play and doesn't know the "standard" meta, I would actually love to see even just one day a month when uThermal doesn't cheese and just shows us how strong his regular play is as each faction.
PvZ cheese build suggestion: nexus before core, 2 gas in main, 1 adept, stargate, phoenix, twilight, get up to 8 gates, chrono charge, stop probes at ~40 (going over 36 a bit is good), stop gas mining at 100 gas, proxy 2 gates for warp in (for a total of 10 gates), and attack with your first warp in after the gates finish. Another version is going 2 phoenix + get a third nexus that you don't probe. Unless you let in an ovie they'll never suspect it's a 2 base all in, because no one makes 2 phoenix when doing these all ins.
Double rush starport never works too well unless your willing to go nexus First.. you absolutely need the gas .. otherwise you're just too behind if it fails to outright win.
How about a chargelot rush/timing attack against terran? Also, if you're doing the voidray+phoenix you should bring out a pair of phoenixes as the first thing, so while the voidrays build, they gain energy.
Outta curiosity... how do you pronounce your name? In your Liquipedia page's trivia, it says you'd initially spelled your callsign 'μThermal'. So I wonder if it was "MuThermal" before you changed out the greek letter, or if it indicated a scientific unit like "Mirco Thermal" or something...
Uthermal I think I know you a little bit... and I wouldn't want to get weirdly parasocial but far from "like crazy builds now and then" I'd say you use content creation and independent employment as an opportunity to as much as possible play non stop crazy shit.... Even when you were a pro you did off the wall stuff, loved the early game interactions of units and did timing attacks... The Uthermal 53 different types of cheese is just you tuning out of being a pro to wear a pair of sweatpants and play the game the way you love to play it.... Which is super fucking cheesy and off the wall.
Yeah that void ray biuld is nasty and i still dont get why protoss dont have to make a robo to unlock stargate ?? Terren could counter of they could skip factory but nooo protss air is tier 2 not tier 3
At this point anything besides a straight up fight is considered cheese. So ironic that, different strategies in a real time strategy game is called cheese now a days.
IM pretty sure the 2nd game, the guy was a bot... lmfao . spawns a mule after losing all of his scvs as a last ditch effort to mine some extra minerals :p
That void ray rush is basically why I stopped playing. I thought I would reach masters and be able to hold stupid crap like this, but once I have not much has changed. Protoss just needs to build voids and shield batteries off of 1 base, no skill or thought required, and then terran must scout it, know precisely what to do, and execute near-perfectly. It's just not fun to know that your opponent won with no effort.
I watched this match to game #2 but Protoss is such a boring race I couldn’t even handle game 3. Please stop. Protoss is just such a bullshit race. Your skilll will obviously win. But it’s much more interesting to watch your Zerg or Terran. I have always disliked Protoss at high level.
Too one-sided. Should make the challenges more "challenging" but not play against 4k MMR opponents. Maybe start at 4.7k MMR or higher. This just feels like beating weaker opponents and asks for opponents of your own level.
I still find it less and less entertaining that a top10 GM expro smurfs against diamonds. Even with his positive attitude it's just cheap and dirty smurfing.
I play chess and when actual grandmasters do speedrun games their opponents get their points back if they lose. I wonder if this is the case here. If not, its pretty shady.
@@Unmustache1every pro/expro does that, like the Cowboy/Harstem. But it's really unethical, ofc it's entertaining on one side but hopeless and frustrating on the other. You dont learn from a game with a pro 3k above your MMR. I like when he plays against grandmasters.
@@balazsfenyes3880 That’s fair, but he can’t do the same thing over and over like that, as content needs variety. He does end up playing against GMs during his ___ to GM series, which is why it can get so entertaining when the strategies have been solidified. I understand its smurfing, and sure it can definitely be unfair. But if it’s his income on the line, I’d definitely rather uThermal keep smurfing.
He is literally showing and explaining what he is doing, explaining the weak points, how to fight against it and teaching people and attracting people to the game. If you think it is your right to be a lazy ass yet think you can earn any rank, go play single player.
The cheeses look really weird and almost look like they shouldn't succeed. But they do. I'd love to see seom ad hoc comments what the opponent could have done differently.

beastyqt has a ton of them from years ago. mana does them now too
The channel feels like it has morphed from "weird Terran builds" into "weird cheese builds", and I am *there for it*
As someone who mostly only plays terran and only really watches Terran RUclipsrs. I'm for it too. Mark obviously became my favorite content creator and he is making me want to play protoss now.

@@omegaslastThat’s fair enough, though I think it’s just a chill, fun series that delves deeper into the crazy builds that uThermal knows.
I've never even played Starcraft, but your games look so fun and your commentary is unmatched, so entertaining and in depth
the battery void ray cheese was brutal
It's really weird to see Thermy playing Toss, but it's a pleasant surprise
And a welcome one, to be sure.

If Marc ever is feeling really dastardly, I’d love to see some kind of Random to GM challenge
Marc is turning into a professional cheese maker
Typical dutchy
I really enjoy your upbeat attitude and enthusiasm.
Just a protoss lad would never try to trick their zerg friends
Had a good chuckle seeing that 12 gate vr all in vs terran. Gave me good memories of the 5 minute oracle timing off a 12 gate back in HoTS. I would have played Toss main if all my opponents were Terran :D
Making starcraft fun again
Before I first saw Uthermal I had no idea of my propensity toward enjoying watching people being tortured 😁. Keep the good work up!
The mutas were the nail in the coffin on the last game I think. He just had no answers to the phoenixes which allowed the void rays to do the damage.
Top gaming man. Ik kijk bijna elke dag! Keep it up 👍🏻
Thank-you for giving a shout-out to Genius! He was one of my fav SCII players from back in the day.
Of course, you've got that crown now. :D
One of the few youtubers that highlights how fun this game can be
Man, i don't know why but your games are just on a higher level of entertainment.
As someone who doesn't play and doesn't know the "standard" meta, I would actually love to see even just one day a month when uThermal doesn't cheese and just shows us how strong his regular play is as each faction.
just watching a gm dunk on diamonds with standard play? lol very fun
@@WhatsY0UTUB3 Maybe he could do it on that one account that got ranked as top 10 GM?
That double proxy Void Ray game looked like Marc tried to replicate a Silver leaguers build.

"because you guys know I like my crazy builds every now and then." BRO YOU PLANETARY RUSHED 3 TIMES IN HOMESTORY CUP XD. Dude is a legend
Uthermal stay changing the “standard” builds. 🙌 go uthermal
That Zerg should have probably spent a bunch on spores since he was floating 2k, maybe that would have protected his AA units well enough.
maybe he would have if he knew there was 4 void rays coming for him
@@markcornish6393 he did though, they showed up at his third and he spent no of the 2 thousand minerals he was floating
Hi Marc what is your mic brand sounds pretty clear!
I don't even play Protoss, but I'm still deadly afraid this will start another decade of mindless "void ray is imba" honking from the skill freed.
Double rush starport never works too well unless your willing to go nexus First.. you absolutely need the gas .. otherwise you're just too behind if it fails to outright win.
I really want Marc to cultivate some SC2 AI bots of himself, so that we can see his Toss or Zerg going against his Terran. That would be chaotic fun!
Would the 2 stargate rush vs. zerg at the end work against pros?
"4 voidrays at 5 minutes? eh, I don't know."
*wins easily*
Love some Voidray action!
How about a chargelot rush/timing attack against terran?
Also, if you're doing the voidray+phoenix you should bring out a pair of phoenixes as the first thing, so while the voidrays build, they gain energy.
Another video suggesting "reverse tea bagging" where you pick up with phoenixes and drop on disruptor balls
That Void cheese was the scariest shit i ve ever seen!!!
The Void Ray rush against Terran was one of the grossest things I have ever seen... in a good way.

Banger episode!
the phoenix vs queen was amazing
I love Void Rays, they just speak to me for some reason. I think it's why I like Symmetra so much in Overwatch...
Damn i was trolled !!! NogyNova 🤣
Here's an idea: get some sentries to the opponents natural or main and forcefield the mineral mine(s)
awesome last game lmao! sick strategy xD
OMG!! That second one against the terran ....... dude did you go straight to the shower afterwards? It was so dirty
That last player...2000+ minerals...
what was he even DOING?
The only thing I can think is he was going to TRY and get to corruptors, but...
I love your cheeses if i try it i just get stomped on but sometimes it works.
First match you applied WhiteRa's Special Tactics
When uThermal cancelled prismatic alignment, but isn't queen armoured?
I ran into somebody who tried this proxy against me today. Managed to counter it just in time and won.
It's sad that the last zerg opponent could've made 39 spores with his minerals, but it's easy to say that when you're not under pressure.
I feel like Thermy and Beastyqt would be such an epic team in Archons
Thanks for the proxy voidray ptsd

Play as Zerg and win using another faction's units via Infestor worker steal.
