@ictibso just at the very beginning I was tack welding the pipes to the base I just close my eyes, but the rest of the video I was using my helmet, and when grinding I had eye, ear protection and gloves. even when painting I had a respirator on. I don't always protect myself but I try when I have a bigger job to do...
Brilliant - sorry about that visitor - always good to meet a YTer who doesn't waste my time! Q: (if you know you're a structural guy as well) if you had 2 eight feet tall, how much weight could they take?
That's pretty amazing. I am working with a factory that produces these. What kind of welding is that? Would it be hard with your equipment to do a load-bearing truss?
@blacksmither537 just do a spark test. google spark testing and you'll see all the different types of sparks and how the relate to steel types. (an old heavy anti-sway bar from a truck is a good cheap spring to use for your application.)
Hello "modernblacksmith" I know this has been up for a couple yrs, but I just now found this vid. I'm looking to make my own lightweight steel lighting truss. The triangle truss you just did is awsome and just what I need. I like the jig you made for quick assembly. What is the steel tubing and truss rod your using in this vid? Wall thickness, id, od, etc? I once made a circular overhead cymbal rack for my drumset out of 2in exhaust pipe and welded T corners for the stands holding it up. Thanks
Congratulations from a rookie welder you make it look easy...
Very nice video, they turned out great! Good to see those gloves being put good use ;) hehe
Tks for tips in the fabrications
