Can we all just take a minute to applaud the commitment they put into this?!
Right !!
For sure 👍
Great video. Confirms my decision to appendix carry
👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸
Thank you!
Thank you all for going through hell to give us a real evaluation.
By far the best demonstration for off carry bags which may give a false sense of security. Great job on the entire team!!!
Thank you
thank you!
Never forget, distance buys you time and time buys you options. On body is preferable. Off body if you must.
This video was a joke😂
Great video! I appreciate the lengths you went to provide realistic scenarios. Reminds me of the Army training motto, "Train as you fight."
Good video. I’m disabled and because of my disability I’m limited on clothing so I off body carry ,,,, now I gotta rethink my everything
How did bro watch an entire 22 minute video in 2 minutes?
Yikes! That's an eye opener 😮
😂😂
This was the most informative video I've seen. Thank you
Glad you enjoyed it, thank you for watching!
Definitely
It seems with the bag you are working to protect you and the bag, instead of just protecting you.
When your weapon is in the bag, you must fight for the bag. Plus, the bag might make you a target.
MORAL of the story: Don't get jumped by 2 Navy Seals!
Hey hey I’m an Army Ranger lol.
😂
@@RangerCortesdon’t get jumped by any elite armed forces member especially anyone trained in martial arts😂😂😂
One Navy Seal and one Army Ranger
Moral of the story - don’t fight like a girl. 😂
This is true commitment
mike is a tough mfer
I carry off-body for the comfort and convenience. Being acutely aware of its drawbacks, I supplement with pocket carry. That way, if they're somehow able to get my bag, their hands are committed to that and I'm not defenseless
You guys are animals I enjoyed watching and will never off body carry
That is why I always refuse off-body…Even with Viktos models.
Would like to see a Shoulder Holster comparison in an exercise like this. Good stuff here USCCA team !
Same. I have to think one would still fare better with shoulder carry.
Very nice video. I am a handgun, self-defense trainer, and i do a lot of training/sparring with the gun from a Holster, but now I will definitely practice this as well.

Your BEST results were when you had the MOST time and were able to have your hand WAITING in the bag.
Moral of the story, the BEST deffense is avoidence. Maintain awareness of your surroundings and change your own direction if you have to but avoid and keep space as MUCH as possible.
Cross streets if you have to and avoid walking near suspicious looking people.
I agree with a commenter here, I applaud the time effort and reality of the test. Awesome stuff, THANK YOU!
Highly recommend this kind of force on force training to anyone who carries.
It's a wonderful way to train! Where do you go to get this type of training?
Definitely recommend running and getting distance because you need more time with these bags.
@@USCCAOfficial I recommend ultimate defense which is the only place local to me that offers this type of training (that I know of). I’d like to train more with delta defense. Do you offer courses like this regularly?
Not quite like this necessarily, but you can always use training.usconcealedcarry.com to look up different classes and instructors around you!
@@USCCAOfficial awesome, thanks for the reply!
Still wear a bag as a decoy thus surprised draw from side arm wins
Great demonstration - I have tried off body carry slings, backpacks, fanny packs, etc. The video breaks down the (3) key elements, Time, Distance, Training...Every scenario is different, opening up a wide variety of potentials.....
There is a time to fight, and a time to run....I believe there is a moment in any encounter, especially with 2 or more attackers.....With off body carry, my 1st option would be to break away (If possible), to ensure they don't disarm me. Break away and create space, which is the best option to get the firearm up and out, allowing me to defend myself......Most average citizen wouldn't be skilled enough to handle one person, let alone 2.....
Fantastic video guys...I'll be sure to share this with friends.
Yup, went pretty well exactly how I thought it would when I watched the original bag video! 😂 BTW, people complaining about the 2 on one mugging situation for the bag not being fair, real life it will probably be 2 or more every time.
Correct
Incorrect
Oh. Why?
The thought that it is more likely you get jumped by multiple attackers is just plain wrong, you're most likely to be attacked by someone close to you.
And you have data to back this up?
i make a pull.handle for the bags that sits between the zipper pulls. so that when it's pulled hard the entire gun grip is exposed because of the motor skills issue.
however. now I'm very concerned they ran off with your gun and rethinking the whole deal.
If you dont want someone snatching your bag wear the belt under your shirt so only the bag is visible it will make it a lot harder for someone to snatch off of you
That was awesome, thank you for some real life perspective training, much to learn from this.
Great test!!
Thank you for your excellent fighting. It was very hard to keep them off you. I am 68 and virtually defenseless so I would never carry off body or even open carry. I carry completely concealed and my attack would be from a perspective of surprise.
Wow, wow, wow! I've never seen a training video like this. Absolutely brings home the reality of off body carry! Wow! Can't thank you enough for taking the hundred or so punches. Geez...
Loved the test thank you
Glad you enjoyed it!
For a laugh, watch this a second time at 1.5 speed. They swarm him. LOL
Anyway, this illustrates really well how quickly and violently an attack will go down. Bags may be fine if you're in a situation with an active shooter who is away from you or if you have enough space and a clearly identified threat coming at you. But if it's a direct attack on you with no warning, yes, they're useless.
Probably one of the best videos I have ever seen done. Thanks for taking the lumps man. They beat you like you owed them money...
😂
Glad to see real action and thus side holster wins
Everyone should train like this or at least watch stuff like this before they just buy a gun and throw it in their purse or body bag
I don’t have friends trained in martial arts
Exactly
@@5lim.0I’m pretty sure two people with a average skill level in fighting could make this a challenge
@@peezy792 make out a challenge yes. Be as safe as possible, probably not
Great job guys
Thanks for the support! More to come!
Excellent content! Learned quite a bit. Thank you all for doing this for us.
If he can’t do it, good luck for a woman trying to get it out of her purse… never been a fan of off-body. Other disadvantage of a bag, it gives them something to target and want.
Really, really, well done. I salute the effort that you put into this.
thank you!
Your insights provide valuable lessons for responsible gun owners.
Thanks for sharing your experience! Off-body carry definitely has its drawbacks, especially when it comes to quick access and retention.
Great video! Really gives you something to think about it. I certainly don't know if the odds are that you will be ambushed by two highly trained open hand combative, former SF members, but any ambush is going to be brutal, especially if you are unaware. I have the Viktos bag and I changed out my zipper pulls to larger ones that are easier to grab under stress and when wearing gloves. Outstanding work! Thanks for taking it for the team to provide us this!! Bravo Zulu!!
Awesome and insightful video
Has me rethinking my CCW
Great content, thank you!
Glad you liked it!
Incredible and intense video. Well done.
Awesome video. I learned a lot.
Love to hear that!
Wow, boyfran be doin' WORK!!! Distance is your FRIEND whether you OBC or do IWB.
Excellent ❤
I'm a USCCA member and off body carry, and this is an eye opener to the holes in carrying this way!!! Now to make adjustments!!! Thank you so much for presenting this!!!!
Thank you for watching!
Great video, very educational. Always carry on your body
Bro got a full workout ! Respect.
For the average person, fighting off those guys would be impossible. But seems obvious to use on body carry and train
It’s actually a really funny video because of the interview after each fight. I don’t think they were intending it to be but it ended up bringing some great comedic relief
The take away from this is NOT to carry a man purse! It’s first have more than one way to defend yourself! Second you need to carry in your normal way and don’t carry in a manor you have not had hours upon hours of practice. Third secondary weapon even if it is just a spare mag smashed into the temple. I run a gun belt with a double retention on my pistol, a steel retractable baton , and a lockback/push dagger. My first is always the baton, swinging it above the head draws the line of site to it not the dagger and gun! I have broken arms in the same two places, and struck just below the ear (Removing equilibrium for weeks) so meany times I lost count. The only thing I hate more than the man purse edc, is the new cloths pin slide . I refuse to call it a holster and your edc is on plain display with them . I don’t trust a .5” plastic clip that I could walk up and twist off of your hip with no real leverage needed! Yes a gun belt is not for everyone, yes I carry under arm when I need to dress up a bit, but I practice both , 6-10 hours a week minimum! I practice usmc knife and baton daily with some escrima for good measure. If you want to rely on just your edc,,,, best of luck! You just witnessed it fail over and over again, the sad thing is it only needs to happen once! Train, add skills, and drill baby drill, or it’s you who will get drilled
Man I need to take this type of training. I carry an over shoulder bag with my concealed carry.
We would love to have you at one of our fighting from CCW courses!
Great content. Thanks for putting these in a scenario and context
Thanks for watching!
thank you gentlemen; i truly believe you guys just saved lives. thank you for your honesty
Thank you!
Thanks for watching! Check out all the great videos on Defense Strategies' page too! 👆 👆 👆
Wow. Powerful demonstrations. Thank you
Excellent review.
Thank you. Great video. Will train more and more.
Just saw this and I LOVE the lessons, thank you.
I actually carry the Viktos bag, and after an incident in a grocery store a few months ago I noticed the same thing about the zipper pulls that you point out. As a result, I bought the Vertx zipper pulls and installed them on the Viktos bag. I also reached out to Viktos to let them know about the issue.
I'm also a right hand draw, but I carry my bag on the reverse shoulder to make opening the bag a bit easier when slinging it around my body.
Thanks again for sharing your experiences. Stay safe!
The best demonstration ever, and a eye opener.
Dang wish you guys did the 945 Industries pack.. But appreciate the content.
It for sure puts you at a general disadvantage but the disadvantage is even greater if you don't have it at all..One potential BENEFIT of off body is, as shown, if you feel you're in a suspect condition you can more easily prep your pull without brandishing.
Nice vid guys! More of this please!
Holy 💩! Very informative. Thanks for the training video.
Thank you for watching!
Excellent video, thank you so much for your time and dedication 😎
Thanks for watching, and glad you liked it!
Great video!!
My problem with the bags is that the bag is your opponent’s objective. The bag likely has valuables in it and the bad guys want the bag.
I will never off body carry! I bought one and practiced with it! I was not confident with my performance with it then i thought about the scenarios and decided that was not for me! I thought of all these senarios! This video proved my thinking!
Thank you for that heroic demonstration. Appendix carry seemed to be the most effective method of carry. Maybe once you heal up you will brave the gauntlet again to compare on-body carry positions.
Amazing
Will do
Practice makes you so much better! Eye opening how much you need space. Guess I won’t be carrying the tactical man purse. Also, RIP to the poor soul who attacks Mike O’Dowd in the street 😂
lol thank you
Well put together fellas...never was and never will be an obc! Respect!
I think everyone who carries off body should watch this
Great video, great info. I only off body carry when exercising. I am seriously rethinking this.
Have you trained your draw from your off body carry option?
@@USCCAOfficial yes, of course. I added a 550 lanyard to the zipper so that it is easier to pull. 👍🇺🇸 if you fail to train, you train to fail.
Fanny packs suck. Used one for years, never again.
Great video and class
Glad you liked it!
Thanks for putting this out, it's videos like this that helped me learn even more important things to keep myself alive. I also can't help but say how much this reminds me of how much I miss fighting LOL. I always got a thrill out of even getting hit in the face in a fight, and thrill in a positive and exciting way LOL. I haven't been in a fight since 2016 and I miss it but these days it seems to be too easy to end up in jail if you are fighting unlicensed and outside of the Ring even if it's pre-arranged fights between friends and of course I'm not trying to end up with a criminal record over just trying to have a little bit of fun.
Great video
I dislike off body care, I can't find / afford any good bags that's have everything needed and required to safely carry, quickly access, and comfortably where.
Awesome video thanks
Glad you enjoyed it!
Great video 🔥🔥🔥
Thank you for watching!
This is such phenomenal content. As a fighter I have a hard time recommending people conduct this training as CTE is a real thing and you can have brain damage after one shot or 100. But you have to rep it like its real. Fact is his assailants were holding back. Criminals will take your head off. Most will grab the bag and run, sucker punch you and grab the bag or start to draw on you as they approach. This Navy seal had a lifetime of training and still was held back by fine motor skills. No one should off body if they can help it. Love this real world content. Maybe the other guys can switch off the beating next time LOL
Thank you !
Man no mercy from the dudes lol. Cool video
This was intense!
One problem I noticed. The very existence of a visible knife should indicate deadly force.
(Also two attackers when you are older, and less able)
You see it, you draw and shoot. As in “fear for your life.” On body or off body.
Am I wrong?
What a great video. I own the Viktos bag and have practiced drawing but this has shown me the problems of off-body carry under attack and stress. Nice job!!
Because of those issues, do you stick to on body carrying only?
@@USCCAOfficial Yes; I’m strictly on-body carry. If there is a situation where my normal IWB or OWB holsters won’t work because of the way I must dress, I use a deep carry holster (the old Smart Carry crotch holster). Not the fastest draw but I have a gun and extra mag on me at all times.
SALUTE to all three of you.
Great real world test, no gimmick bs. I carry in a bag or in my pocket.
Great job all! I used to periodically use one, totally ditched it after just thinking about what you (so painfully) demonstrated! Had one of my folks mugged off duty-fought like hell, lost the bag with pistol, badge and wallet. Yup, situational awareness but, sometimes you can’t predict everything coming your way.
awesome video
Thanks for watching!
Great video gentleman and thank you for your service. While creating distance/time move at an angle when ever possible rather than moving straight back.
Glad you liked it!
Freaking excellent video. Thank you for testing this and eating those bombs. 😂 Those dudes did not hold back and I love it. 👊
Thank you!
This was very good demonstration on off-body carry. It showed the short comings and what is good about each bag. I think I would add a luggage strap/streamer keychain like the Remove Before Flight streamers you can find. The Air Force one I have is made out of the name tape material on my uniform. So it is very sturdy. It doesn't stand out as a pull strap as much as a decorative item on the zipper, but is large enough strong enough to grab in an emergency situation. I feel that is an advantage then a small long para cord or tape which are narrow, making them harder to grab or hold while fighting off someone. This video gives you some things to think about with what you have now or are going to purchase. Can the strap clips be upgraded to sturdy metal instead of plastic/nylon. Will the zipper pull be able to handle a larger strap and not just break the top off of the zipper on a stressfully hard pull. I liked the magnetic closed pocket, but this showed it was hard to get into. You would have to look at if there is a way of putting handles or something to make it easier to open the pocket and still make it look natural. Thank you for this video, because I was thinking of off-body carry and now have to rethink on the bag to use.
Great video!! Very good practical defensive information. The only thing I see is if someone plans to take your bag wouldn't they also have something that can easily cut the strap?
If you were carrying a knife “on body” would it have helped you at all?
Possibly
For this type of situation, of course you would want to use this bag. It is a very specific type of carry that is not good for most situations in my opinion. The best and only scenario that I use the backpack for currently is full frame carry with 2 extra mag on a collage campus. A comfortably fits my stuff I need for School and full frame handgun in the back with spare mags. I know this may not be ideal for this type of " in the moment for a draw shoot scenario or fighting an attack then draw," but I figure in most circumstances sadly for a shooter to be on a campus like such. The longest part of this scenario should be locating the shooter in the building which during that time I will be able to have my weapon at the ready
Off body isn't good for SELF defense, but it's better than not having it with you at all because sometimes you are the bystander, or in a situation where you aren't the IMMEDIATE target. I can't think of a situation when I'd personally off body carry, but can't completely rule it out as an option in an unusual circumstance.
Conceal and Carry on!
Good video. Would have liked to see if when carrying off-body in a bag to include an on-body knife that could maybe create distance.
Yes, thank you sooooo much for having that much "skin" in the game to help us understand thoroughly. While I have a ccw, I think having mace TOO and have on ready while in transitional spaces. The time between determining imminent threat and not having a brandishing issue, mace can get space and time to get away or draw down. Minus the ambush scenario. Thoughts?
Thanks again, that was intense and very helpful!!!!!❤
Thanks for watching!! Having things like pepper spray ready in those transitional spaces is a great idea, it's not always about going to your firearm. Do you train drawing and getting your spray ready just like you train drawing your firearm?
Great video! Good friends, wether they knew it or not, in this training, may have held back just a bit. Just imagine real attackers not holding back at all!!
For me, I'll always body carry.
Thanks for watching! Do you and your friends ever train together like this?
I’m absolutely going to try this at home.
Nope, nope nope. Never seemed like a good idea to me.
