    "Why can't kids consent?"
    Because when I was a kid I thought Criss Angel was using real magic and thought his show was so real. I re watched it with a fully developed brain and realized how utterly fake and scripted it was....kids are dumb, with peace an love.

    • @midouban628
      @midouban628 2 года назад +548

      Also just because kids can say "yes" and "no" doesn't mean "consent". Consent in this context only occurs when a person voluntarily agrees to the proposal or desires of another WHILE fully understanding the risks and benefits. This is why attorneys and medical staff before getting your consent signature are required by law to ask do you fully understand everything that was being said/explained; and do you have any questions/concerns.

      I was fully convinced that I was going to find, catch, and become friends with my very own Gengar. I was one dumb kid, but I am glad that my imagination let me have fun and believe in the magic for a while too, it was very fun. • @tigermunky
    @tigermunky Год назад +547

    Update; Shortly after this video went out, Yee was sentenced to 6 years in prison. Some of his sentence was backdated due to time served. He should be out in 2026. He'll likely be deported and, as Tom says, may end up serving time for dodging national service. The guy is only 24 and he's already totally screwed up his own life.
    It's weird how some people in the comments defend him and blame everything on his upbringing or Singapore. This guy made his own choices. Blaming his actions on getting 'too much support as a child' is a terrible excuse. He wasted his potential and is likely to be in prison for most of his 20s.

    My father and mother were pretty much war Refugees, My parents witness pretty much genocidal actions everyday while growing up and living in their village, My father spent time in a holding camp during a bloody civil war in Sri lanka, my mother told me stories of escorting her mother and sisters into shitty excuses they called bunkers every time helicopters flew by. My parents finally fled to Canada and struggled working minimum wage jobs and still pretty much are doing it to this day. My parents were persecuted by the sri lankan government simply because of their herritage and the part of the country they lived in, so they had to flee.
    Countless of people who are immigrants or trying to get into a better country because of reasons outside of their control can tell you the exact same thing aswell. How hard they're trying, how much hard work they're doing, and how grateful they are once they're finally in that country.
    Meanwhile, Amos Yee literally just went on a rant and threw a teenage angst outburst, got practically a free all expense paid (Free housing included) ticket to one of the greatest countries in the world, a shot of waiting one year to become a full fledge citizen, AND Yet, despite the odds STILL SOMEHOW fucked up.
