Long time subscriber here! I'm so happy you are finally coming to the Balkans, it's beautiful here. Come to Bulgaria next, you would love it here! Tons of cool places to see. Here are some of my suggestions:
- visit the Bulgarian seaside on the Black Sea - the old town of Nessebar, and the city of Varna. For cool beach destinations you should visit the southern part of the coast - go to towns like Sozopol, Primorsko, go jump from the Agalina cliffs.
- For a more mountainous experience go visit the Rila Monastery in the heart of Rila mountain and the hike to 7 Rila Lakes. Absolutely beautiful there, a must do for anyone visiting Bulgaria.
- For a more city oriented experience Plovdiv and Sofia (the capital) are all great this time of year. When in Sofia also don't miss out on the Kopitoto viewpoint which overlooks the entire city of Sofia.
There are hundreds of cool locations tbh but it all depends what you're looking for. The mountainous regions are incredibly beautiful. When in Bulgaria maybe also hop across the boarder to Greece and visit the city of Thessaloniki, very cool place, the seaside promenade is very nice.

I've seen some other YT videos of Albania and heard about it years ago and have been interested in visiting it for a while. Looks awesome and definitely on the radar. Some nice beaches too I guess.

Being that you guys travel so much, could you guys make a video about what it's like to fly in an airplane for so many hours and so often, is it scary to fly to far places being that the hours are so long, any tips for people who have never flown to far places, how to make sure your luggage arrives at your final destination when doing connecting flights, and how do you guys plan such trips in countries in which you do not speak the language to make sure you're safe at all times and that people are not trying to scam you? Those are some of my many questions.

just checked your insta posts about the reality of the albanian riviera and of the "legally speaking" mostly state owned beaches therefore by logic public beaches. What a truly gorgeus natural coastline in the south!!! Reminds me a bit of Monaco with its serpentine roads. Just as gorgeus as these so called "high end beach clubs and concrete resorts" that have overtaken in a mafia like style almost every corner of the coastline and where high end is only the bill because the services and manners or better the lack of it leave one at least dumbfounded if not outraged. Where being kicked out from these in theory public beaches as a local or foreign tourist with ones towles in hand by club owners muscle minions through nasty threats or even by force is unfortunately no news. So long live this "Banana Republic" and its state licensed mafia tourism vision. Way to go Albania! Chris and Carol I`m sorry that you were confronted by this shameful side of my home country and thank you for telling it how it is the good and the bad.
Hey there, yes the beaches are incredibly beautiful but the big problem is that they have taken over every single space on the beach! All the beaches are all overrun with beach clubs and there are beach beds on every single inch of the beach. if you go to the beach you are pretty much just looking at hundreds of sun beds that you must pay to stay on. We read that this is a big problem that angers the majority of albanians, is that true?
@@JumpingPlaces Unfortunately yes its true just as it´s true that the voiced public outrage even on big media outlets falls repeatedly on deaf ears as far as the local and central authority is concerned. From their perspective its good money they´re making from renting out at max capacity public space. Or even if on paper only a small part is rented out no local enforcement task group is going to check on the ground as long as they get their cut. The locals calls to the regional police go unanswered so these beach bars and resorts have de facto a free hand to do what they please. If one suspects that this can not possible be on the long run a profitable tourism stratetgy especially with competing neighbours as greece, turkey and croatia they are right as foreign tourist wont come back and locals are fed up with the high prices for parking, sunbeds, drinks accommodation and cheap services so they either go on their holidays abroad since its sometimes even cheaper or not at all. In the end the sunbeds will keep on staying put and empty just as their overpriced beach restaurants without any to be expected improvements what makes one wonder how they have´nt already gone bankrupt by now. My guess is that a chunk of them serve as upfront businesses for money laundering there is no other way to explain their indifference to poor attendance. The rest profited from the last 2 years when most of the world prohibited travel while albania had no restrictions to expand their land grab. Sry for the long answer.
ps. to be fair there are still some untouched well known beaches in the south but mostly they are unreachable by car. One hast to walk or climb like "Filikur", "Krorez" (at least the first beach coming from Lukove) "Kakome" ( if one manages evade the lonley guard there) and last I heard "Akuariumi"
@@JumpingPlaces Yes the people don't like how the coast has been "developed", nor did they vote for beaches to be rented out by the government so the space can be in turn rented out to the vacationers. The government is outright rotten, they're doing a lot worse things. Slowly, piece by piece they are taking property rights from current users and handing them over to international corporations that will built resorts. So it will become like Latin America, everything is standardized, controllable and fake, the experience from one resort to another(even in different continents) has the same boring experience. I like they you can rent an apartment by the coast in Albania and use it for 3 weeks with family members, or go to a small family hotel or guesthouse. I really hate the western resort model, it's fake, expensive and shallow. It's also economically hostile to middle class economic model, I'd rather have small family business tap into the profits.

Honestly speaking , paved roads increases tourism which leads to the destruction of natural beauty of that place.
They actually need increased tourism at this place, they have issues with underpopulation as everyone left because there is no work there. But yes we hope they increase in a sustainable manner.

Albania looks so beautiful! I have an Albanian friend who owns and runs A Pizza restaurant up the street from me. The water looked beautiful and cold .When I lived in Northern California, I heard the ocean was very cold .One warmer Summer day i went to a local beach and there were some people ein the water. I tried it and after a few minutes I had to get out and go home. I couldn't seem to get warm so i filled the tub with hot water and took a bath .And I was fine.
