dont know if you are just being overly dramatic or if you have a really sensitive skin, 'cause i find it rally hard for fingers to bleed even if you practice more than 4 hour per day...

I’ve just started learning ukulele a month ago. I started by learning songs with only 2-3 chords. It literally took me a week to learn how to sing and strum at the same time. I am already so much better though!!

I’ve been playing my Ukulele for three months and have the same problem Eden has. I can only play for a little bit before my fingers hurt, will this get better as I play?
Yes, you'll get calluses which is extra layers your skin builds, this will make it hurt less the more you practice

Megan Rose if you have a steel stringed guitar try playing that. I starting getting my calluses during the 2nd week and fully developed them by the 1st month. I don't know how slow the process is for solely ukulele since the strings are a lot softer and I tend to use my ukulele when my fingers hurt from guitar, which takes hours of playing and I hope you get to experience longer playing as well.
I think “you are my sunshine” is an exellent starter song, it only uses C, G, and F. It was my first song on uke, I didn’t want my first song to be riptide.. I love the song but almost everyone’s first song is riptide

If you are a Beginner Ukulele player, the pain is no joke! It hurts! I watched this video week 1 and was about to give up because of the pain but thanks to this video, Eden encouraged me to carry on! I do have callouses forming now but it still hurts on week 5. Please don't give up because of the pain. This is a beautiful instrument and deserves to be played. Persevere!

Im actually close to crying on how the pain hurts me so bad asf.. I just started playing for 3 days and I learned 5 songs but it's so frustrating that I cant make them sound so good and fast especially if Im not pushing it *too hard.* My fingers are literally *red* and the lines are getting deeper and deeper almost feeling like Im creating a hole and make them bleed
just for the sake of playing the ukelele right..

When I first started ukelele, it was because my school had forced us to. I was never really that interested and on the first lesson I was thinking to myself "Ughh I doubt I'll learn anything." But a few lessons later, it kinda grew onto me... I love it now :D

I just got a ukulele for Christmas and i'm inspired by watching your (and Eden's) videos. I feel completely hopeless at the moment and i wondered why i'd wasted money on getting a uke. But i'm going to stick with it because i've seen the progress that Eden has made.

i am still learning to play, but i've been playing for about 5 months, and if you play every single day for at least 30 minutes, you will develop calluses (*strong fingers* so it doesnt hurt) within a week or two! just keep trying, it is soo fun to be able to play a song on any instrument!

When she was like "my fingers hhuurrtttt" I like had a war flash back to when I just got my cello and my fingers were deceased because they were metal strings. After four years of it my fingers are pretty calloused so moving to the nylon polymer strings were a piece of cake. I hope she sticks around and stays in the string community for a while longer!!

MY NAME IS EDEN AND AND IVE BEEN PLAYING FOR 7 MONTHS! MY SISTER TAUGHT ME SOME TOO! IM JUST SHOOK
When I started playing guitar a bit less than three years ago, I was already a trained and experienced musician on sax, so it was normal for me to practice for an hour or two every day, but the skin on my fingertips and muscles in my hands and forearms certainly weren't ready for it. I think most guitar and ukulele players don't even realize how difficult this part is for a beginner, including body position, how we move our elbows and such.
Just the muscles and callouses take one very difficult month and another less difficult month to get 'in shape' for playing a stringed instrument, and that's if you practice every day. In reality, that first month, ten minutes is going to feel like a lot.
Even now that I can play guitar well, sometimes I'm just noodling chord progressions to keep my hands in shape.
The other thing I went through which I imagine is common for beginners is, I had a death grip on the neck, which makes all of the above worse. Strings only need to touch the frets; you don't have to push them down to the fretboard wood. The thumb doesn't need to be in an upright dead center of the back of the neck position all the time either. Relax those hands and you will do better.
And lastly, as those callouses build up, they're gonna get funky, so use an emory board on them once in a while. Don't let them get too hard, painful, and start cracking.

It really hurt me for the first few days of playing the guitar but after 20-25 days l got used to it. You just have to learn by heart and just have to practice and you will be able to play the ukulele very easily.I just learned myself and it has been only one month since I am playing and it's really easy now.....
Just bought my ukulele last week and been playing it. Somehow my fingers doesn’t hurt although it is my first string instrument. I guess im lucky?? XD idk. Welp, if you’re a begginer.. don’t get scared if you might hurt your fingers maybe you might be lucky like me too?? XD IDK KWNSJWBWH

If you don’t have a ukulele and want to play one with them and learn the cords like play them type play the ukulele in the App Store and click on the one with the yellow uke click the 3 lines to play the ukulele with the frets
