yea happen to me first time today our gekko stunned me and 2 rounds before that he stunned other teammates lol funny thing is both times no enemies was stunned
U can even get flashed if you are standing in front of the enemy while dizze shoot's his c*m
Also if you detain yourself, It counts as if something stopped the ult so the orb doesnt appear to pick up

That's the only time when detaining "teammates" is allowed 😂

Fun fact you can detain enemies early, when doing the lung you can click again to make it explode mid-air before the lung ends making even harder for enemies to shoot it down

You can also just cancel it when it's close to you and not do the lunge. That way, you don't risk detaining yourself

The point of the lunge is to clear as much as you can and get it back in a safe place to pick up. You can do what you said, but you'll be clearing a bit less.

@@iantune lunging is faster than normal moving. spend more time clearing corners and then you can use the last second to lunge back at yourself, would probably give 1-2 seconds of extra clearing time

You don’t have to lunge it. To avoid stunning teammates you can recast the ability to cancel.
Depends on the range of course. You can lunge it, but only if it makes sense

Just lunge it into your general direction if it's too far from you like there literally was a clip showing how he lunged it from site to main to make it easier for him to take the orb. If you want to send it back and not risk detaining ur team, just exit out of the ult or let it expire. It won’t lunge.

Also dont deploy it while jumping from boxes on icebox a attack cuz if u taka damage it cancels. I learned the hard way
when thrash jump, u can click it again to instant destroy it near enemies, because thrash has small area. if u miss it u can jump and click it fast for instant detained
I figured this out on release and my teammates thought I was trolling
I did this trick when gekko came out because i want to abuse the recharge ult to clear more angles but instead detain my 2 duelists and get them killed lol
me with the judge when thrash is nearby : I'll give you one tap and thats all I need
Also if you click twice when using the ult it uses it faster
I also wonder why some Gekko users I met do that, I always thought it's logical to bring it back if it's to clear site

Tip if your very close run up right ad you hear his ult and shoot ( don't do it if he has his team defending him

When you’re bringing ur ult back, just press x (or ur custom keybind) to cancel the ult without having to pop it

You can press the Ult button again and exit Ult without lunging
Here are few geeko mechanics that everybody knows:
If you see your teammate about to make a bad flank detain them and tell them to think about it
Press "X" to cancel and take it back
You don't have to left click always, just cancel the ult.

Of course I used my ult multiple times on our Omen. He was intentionally blinding the team the entire match. So when ever I get my ult I always detained him.
His reason was it's just UNRATED.
