It was Anton's video that reminded me to think as a graduate again and get a mentor and take time to learn the financial industry...it take years to master, but maybe about 3 for some competency
Both losing and winning can be emotionally destabilizing-especially for newer traders-because they intensify fear, greed, or overconfidence. Developing the discipline to remain level-headed, no matter your P&L, is the hallmark of a mature and successful trader.
You can't detach from your emotions while trading until you accept that losing is normal. The most important things are managing your lot size right and closing your trades timely. Remember this; NO REGRETS and NO REVENGE in trading. Like any normal business deal, sometimes you gain, other times you lose.
My biggest issue is revenge trading I have a solid strategy but literally all it takes is about 3 trades and I'm going wild I really need to find a way to control them
@@pcsamz5127 Trust me bro everyone has this problem. Just step away after 2 losing trades. I know its hard but breath and put down the phone and charts.
I slam my desk several times when i lose a trade.Followed by a loud God shout, then i try to revenge trade and the market immediately switches direction out of nowhere and hit my stoploss then starts to hit my desired take profit.Well what can i say i love trading :D
Anton has a way of speaking which is very controlled and powerful. He doesn’t use any filler words in his sentences, nor does he litter the gaps between statements with “erm’s”. That is something I want to practise, to develop a more forthright mode of speaking, and cut away my conversational dead wood.

I can tell the guy has no emotions left just by looking at how he explains everything. I think it's exactly the same for cash poker players, you can be on a negative variance trend for long periods of time but you have to stay strong and focused on what are the correct actions to take.
I used to work in sales and my last boss used to lose his mind because I didn’t get upset when a deal went bad. He thought I didn’t care but couldn’t understand that I just didn’t see the point in wasting time on drama for the sake of drama. Needless to say, I left and am now in an industry more suited to my mentality - though not finance. I would be interested to see if I could cope as a trader but I love what I do now so I guess we will never know!

I love the way Anton is straight forward in this issue I e if you dare to follow this industry as a carrier & be successful dith woman or social life to pursue the success
Some people can truly become emotionless but i think its not about that, we are by nature emotional creatures and u cant forcefully remove them... I think its more about being aware of them and not letting emotions cloud your judgement and dictate your decision making
Fabulous lesson! I will overcome my emo side if it is the last thing I do. I have learned a lot already in this game yet need to do more to gain success! Thank you for the reminder!

The way I found to eliminate emotion is to be both long and short. Hedging allows you to get a win when something unpredictable happens and those hedging "profits"(sometimes it is just getting money you lost on them back) can be used to buy something low after a drawdown. Hedging does drag down your returns but you get a lot less volatility than if you don't hedge. I dunno maybe it's just my method but I find it is easier to find peaks when my p/l chart is smoothed out some.
Another great video, thanks Anton! You can learn so much from these videos and the knowledge he shares..more than any books I've read on trading! Just gets to the heart of the issues and I love his simple philosophy approach...many people think its very complicated and technical skills needed but trading is really like any other business, you buy something and you sell it and make a profit.
"Don't look at your P&L" is an incredibly powerful piece of advice, which I follow myself. Just trade your plan, don't get happy (or brag) when you win and don't get despondent if you lose. The reason so many traders fail is because they can't master their emotions.
Actually he has talked about this in another video/ seminar. This is the only phone he has, cause according to him a smartphone is a distraction from the things that provide value to his life.
This is absolutely true, eliminating emotions can make anyone successful... but you first need to look inside yourself and notice the mistakes you are making... you can't fix your problems if you don't identify the problems first
After a few scrupulous research, I made about 11k in profit over a few individual stocks that had a lot of upside potential and reasonable or large market cap. After that, I felt happy but dissatisfied at the same time . i was comparing myself to my rich siblings and that is when my emotion got in the way and I lost 14k in a matter of 2 months!! Now I am more stoic and callous about my approach to trading.
You can tell that Anton is rolling in the money hard. You have to be to wear a shirt like that and not give a fuck. He definitely locked out emotion when he went shopping for new shirts. I love what he's doing with the Institute Of Trading. The retail trading sector has been overcrowded with failed used car salesmen wearing fake Rolex's promoting scalping on a 1 min chart using moving averages as a means to get rich. I used to scalp the treasury futures on the CBOT years ago but never used charts. I used to watch the orders trading into the bids/offers and trade the order flow. If you do that nowadays all you're watching is hordes of algorithms with every aspect of game theory coded into them carrying out acts of attrition against other hordes of algorithms. Opportunities to scalp the spread on yield curves have been gone for years now. Other intraday opportunities have been killed off by the algos too. Back in the day, you could make good money buying the Bund on Eurex at 9 and selling the Bund on LIFFE at 10. I'm going to get back into trading and take Anton's online education as what he says about trading the 1-3 month time frame makes perfect sense to me as I only stopped trading when the intraday opportunites dried up. It's going to be great to learn how to trade fundamentals and I imagine that's going to be combined with trading spreads/hedges to keep risk in check on positions over the 1-3 month time frame. Can't wait to get stuck into the material.
If you have a micro account ($1,000-$5,000) I learned to start with small positions over a variety of different securities so it mitigates risk and it allows you to hedge losses of a losing trade.
"Losses are just part of the game". Absolutely right, ALL the most successful and wealthiest traders take losses on a regular basis, many with win-rates even less than 50%. That's the secret to success right there.
Becoming emotionally detached in trading is not about not caring; it’s about handling both gains and losses with equilibrium. Accept that losing is normal, and that every winning strategy still includes drawdowns. Over time, striving for consistency in your mindset-just as you do in your strategy-enables you to pursue profitable trading without sabotaging yourself emotionally. And if you can work with a mentor who has navigated these waters, you’ll likely reach that emotional steadiness (and improved performance) much faster.
i would argue that market is FULLY emotional. Without emotions the market cannot flactuate. The key is not to be unemotional but to track the flow of the emotion of the market. After consecutive wins, overconfidence can set in, leading you to ignore risk controls or skip proper analysis. Conversely, multiple losses in a row can spark exaggerated fear, pushing you to cut winning trades prematurely or avoid good setups.
