    I am playing this to my mum as she is dying because I couldn't bring my cello on the aeroplane to play it myself. Every now and again she comes to and recognizes a piece and smiles.

    I'm crying a little listening to this. I played the cello in school but had to give my instrument back when I left high school as it was a council instrument loaned to me through the school. I really would love to pick it up again as it made me happy but they're expensive instruments and it's been over 10 years now, I've forgotten how to play, can't even read sheet music anymore.

      @@Cellomoji Thanks! I do have an in person teacher. He is very patient but I think it’s just me. I’m visually impaired so I more focus on my sound. In particular bowing straight and relaxing my bow arm has been a challenge. I practice in front of a mirror but my bow keeps sliding down to the bridge. Do you have any suggestions that might help me? I started 2 months ago and really don’t want to give up.

    • @Cellomoji
      @Cellomoji  2 года назад

      @@shirleyglover3769 Hang in there! You are at the start and that can be the toughest and (sometimes) slow going. As adults, we have a much harder time training our body to try new things too! When it comes to the bow, double-check your bow grip that all the fingers are feeling sticky and helping to guide the bow. Also try just taking shorter strokes. In the beginning, long bows are challenging. Think of strokes that are no wider than your palm. Also, try to get a little grittier with your bow. I have found if your bow is too fluffy on the string it can let the bow drift all over the place. If the sound is too crunchy then use a little bit more bow, but don't feel the need to be lighter. Please let me know if there is anything else I can help with!

      @@Cellomoji I come to your recordings often for inspiration. I'm an older adult trying to learn the cello. I've been playing for a couple of months now and have worked my way through the Hal Leonard books and am now plowing my way through the suzuki books 1 and 2. I've been a brass player for 50 years and I decided to try something new. It is harder than I thought it would be.

    • @Cellomoji
      @Cellomoji  3 месяца назад

      I'm glad that I can give you inspiration! Suzuki definitely steps things up a bit from other method books. But just like anything~ the beginning is always a bit rough and then it gets easier. The biggest thing will be patience, since you already know music it can be a little tedious with beginner songs. The physical technique will be a bit slower process, but I'm sure you'll get there. You already know all about perseverance! :)
