There is almost no load going to the meter so 10gauge is not necessary. A little to much copper showing also. I didn't know someone was making these boxes and made my own. I added these simular meters to all my rigs. Great Job on the video.
@@davemaione8129 Yeah. Sense leads see almost nothing. Very high impedance. Rated for 30 amps! He can use that elsewhere universally with all that beef. I would use it for 2Kw continuous only though. Some of us are pulling some big numbers. ;)
Hey Mike, Nice work! Getting 10 gauge solid wire to bend just right, especially with those short little leads is not easy (Hint: use good fitting work gloves & Lineman's pliers). Also, not being a licensed electrician, but like you, an avid DIY'er, I would really like to see a plastic strain relief plug installed over the thick black cable and attached to the box where it enters. I DO love this kit, for the money, they should throw in the strain relief plug for a truly professional presentation... Looks like it comes in a variety of colors, the plug/cable clamp I'm talking about will probably only be available in white or grey. Cheers - Good Job.
I built this a few months ago. I 3D printed the box and it looks and works great. If you 3D print this I would make the box a little deeper to allow more room for the heavy gauge wire on the back side. (That is, if you are installing flush on the wall not inside of it.) Thanks for the great content. Keep it up. Wish I could post my the pic of my final product.
Thanks again for the video. I just built a meter following your example here. I went with 20A receptacle instead of 30A because I just couldn't find a good deal on any 30A PDUs. I've been wanting to do this for a while and watching this video made me get off my rear and do it! Keep up the great work. :)
My first mining GPU was a MSI 3080 non-LHR (pre LHR in fact). FYI, I am building a power meter following this video. Still waiting on the PDU so I can actually use it. Thanks for the great content! - USA
Add a Non-Metallic Strain Relief Cord Connector to the wire-through-hole. Keeps out bugs, adds a 2nd hard pt to keep the exposed wires in the box from receiving stress, and it'll keep the cutout from cutting into the supply cable sheath.
for real. this is a very cool take/angle. i'll make one for sure ! need new video ideas like that in the community. there is a lot of redundancy ! gj !
Yes my man ! This is exactly what I need, thanks so much for giving us this tutorial/entertainment 😊 you the man 🎉 I'ma hit up that kick starter for sure
That is janky as fuck. No cable gland or clamp for the lead going into the box and look how much exposed conductor is hanging out of pretty much all of those connections. It's probably going to be ok, but Jesus Christ have some respect for the power going through that thing or at least some pride in your work...
Its a good product but actually i prefer using kind of IoT watt meter stuff, like Sonoff POW. its not only show watt, volt, current but its has features like Kwh monthly report, remote on and off, all of information showing on mobile apps.
Do you know anyone printing boxes with a cutout for 110/20v volt sockets? I'd like to make a portable style one like yours, basically a nicer kill a watt meter.
I notice there is some significant differences between this 100A power meter and the 15A power meter (adapter. type) The greater your wattage consumption is, the bigger the difference, so which one to trust?
I have seen these setup at the wall, but has anyone ever used them for individual rigs running off of 220? That way you can do some math and add each of them together to see what each rig is pulling from the wall?
my first gpu was a 5700 xt USA........I NEVER WIN THIS COMMENT PICKER STUFF LOL my favorite youtuber 🤣.......IF U PICK ME IT MUST BE RIG........JKJK roll to the next person
won't you believe my luck man, I just bought one of these! The watt meter I mean, this video is gold, good timing! Thank you Red Fox!!
These look great. Ordering a few today. Thanks red fox
Great timing! I literally just ordered the parts for this. You rock Mike and thanks for all you do!
This just makes me want 220V even more. Thing looks so dang professional! 🔥🔥
You can make one for 120v too...
The ferrite ring measures the Amperage and, the 2 leads measure the voltage. Wattage = V*A. Solid build but would trim some of that visible copper.
100% agree. Thanks brother.
@@RedFoxCrypto Their website says 18awg but you are using 10/2, is 18 not good enough?

Nice, I was just getting ready to assemble one of these. USA, First mining gpu was a 1080 ti.
Just started mining in the United States, using 1070 ti and two 3080 LHR's. Thanks for the content, love it!

Did you use 18awg or 10/2? I've heard of people using both and I'm not too savvy.

I didn't think it would be that straight forward to wire up a meter. Nice. I'll be revisiting this video later when i'm ready to build one myself
Beautiful. This is exactly what I was looking for.
I'm in the USA (Florida) and my first mining GPU is a RTX 3070 LHR from MSI, great videos.
