Awesome video! I 100% would have expected to (and probably would have) fallen off one or more of those rocks. Solid camerawork and editing too. Right up there with those bigger channels IMO.
how did you get permission to launch a kayak from the Ft smallwood boat ramp? I was always told no kayaks can launch from the boat ramp. you have to use the kayak launch on the other side of the park.
I hadn't heart that rule. I'm pretty sure that in MD, a kayak can launch from any public boat ramp (check out the Maryland DNR page for details). We told the gate attendant we planned to launch from the boat ramp and she was fine with it. There is a kayak launch on the other side of the park, but it's closed for renovations.
@@nickaprice Thanks. maybe they've changed the rules. They told us from day one that the ramp opened, no kayaks can launch from the ramp.. only boats. I argued that a kayak is a boat but they still didn't want to hear it. They said only boats with trailers :( Thanks. I'll check to see if they changed the rules.
@@nickaprice did you have to pay extra to use the boat ramp? above what you paid to get in the park? They are still telling me no kayaks can launch from the boat ramp :( You must have gotten a nice person that day. I live close to the park so I have other options but a couple drove all the way from Virginia to launch here and they wouldn't let them. It was too rough to launch on the bayfront. I felt bad for them :( Just wondering if they charged you though. We have launched our power boat from the ramp and you have to pay to get in the park and pay to use the ramp. 2 charges.
@@sunsetatshabooms4558it's been a while since this specific trip, but I believe we got in with my AA Parks sticker and didn't pay anything else. It was winter, maybe they're more lenient then? That boat ramp gets busy in spring/summer so maybe they are more strict then. Have you checked out Green Haven Wharf? I've never been, but it's sorta nearby, and marked as a public launch on Stony Creek on the MD public access map/
Really cool mini adventure!
This is fantastic 👏 Andy survives

Thanks! If I ever fall off anything I'll be sure to document it.
I imagine y’all fighting with the birds that hang out here as you climb these rocks this summer.
Bones are probably left by ospreys or other birds of prey.
