There IS a mod to allow you to change the dump and spawn points for all buildings - look into it. It'll help you on those train stations, you can even have it exit on the opposite side if you want.
@@_r4x4 - It's been a few months since I've played but worked on them last time I was on, it was the primary reason for me installing it. Bummer if it no longer works properly.
it's because your 6 lane road loops backwards. 2 left turns. That means the left lane is the shortest route. Do an S pattern to line it up instead of the U shape. That way, you have one left and one right turn, and it'll split more evenly.
I've noticed this in my games too but I tried something a little weird, I offset the feeder road by one tile as I saw all left drive traffic favoured turning left. By offsetting in the opposite direction I appeared to have a more even split of traffic.
for your exit just use a 4 lane and designate lanes with the farthest exit using only the left most lane, then 2nd farthest using 2nd to the left etc. then they can switch after they off that mess
Keeping the train station hub is a great idea, but a better way to eliminate traffic is to have a station at each industrial area that connects to the hub. Cims will prefer passing goods around on the trains as they are faster. Trucks will only spawn when taking goods to commercial areas within the city
The mod Building Spawn Points might interest you, I think you could have used it to swap around the truck entry/exit points on the train terminals, could be useful in the future
For trucks leaving the trainstations u need to push the earlier trucks with lane connectors to the furtherest outside lane to keep the closer lanes clear for the next truck leaving
the train station reminds me of the La Shuttle terminals for the channel tunnel with how the ramps are, tho the ramps there are straight rather than doubling back. also you should look up Grade Separated Junctions, it's what you're doing for trains to not cross and there's lots of good examples online showing complex junctions
I love watching ImKibitz play city skylines because its chaotic but works and is satisfying because I would like city skylines but I don't have the money to just go and buy games
me too! I bought the base game but after a while i really wanted to play with all the dlc so i reluctantly downloaded a pirated ver. i do not condone piracy but this is a special compromise until i can afford them
you can easily fix the problem of vehicles that drive in one lane by turning on the "lane change aggressiveness" option in the "Traffic manager" settings and setting it to 100%
you could lane math the train exits so each truck exit gets a dedicated lane. Use an one lane offramp and merge into a 2 lane highway then a three lane and then a four lane
you have a lot of traffic because you don't arrange your lane mathematics!! i always watch Biffa Plays Indie Games for guidance on my cities!! I highly recommend the channel!!!
Hey Kibs, there's a building spawn point selector mod that lets you swap the "entrance "and "exit" on train stations after everything is placed....would have been useful information if that darn asteroid didn't make a cameo.
Something I’ve figured out is that a round about works pretty much perfectly for trains. All one line to go around. Easy to get off the loop to whatever direction you want
Very interesting setup. Don't forget lane maths and Traffic Manager to dedicate lanes to on and off ramps. Next you need to add more stations near your other industries and near commercial areas. Don't forget warehouses near the commercial areas for good. Then bajillions of rail lines between the different areas. Cuts traffic on roads, and increased profit a lot.
I don't know if you came across this but, using the 6 lane road for downhill ramp to the stations places most of the trucks to take the left lane. having them in the far left makes them closer to the train stations on that side. Maybe using a two way two lane road might help so that they only have one lane to come down the hill with.
Oh FYI, there is a mod to change where the vehicle spawn points are for buildings (like the train station). Pretty sure it's called Building Spawn Points
FYI it's easier to make it all outbound for the rail because with this set up your also going to be importing still love this series and you should keep going
Single lane the roads at the train stations, and upgrade the highway as they join together to have more lanes. So you should have a 4 lane highway after the last train station. Then use lane connector in TM:PE to keep everyone in their own lanes. This will also change your input lanes, as one lane for station would be a two lane highway leading up, splitting from a four lane, not a six lane road. 😉
Watching your episode where you put your space elevator in you could have removed roads that would let free access to the services of some side of the tourist District or you could have converted some of the road leading there to motorway meaning they have to go through chirpy land or walk a very long distance.
This game needs direct connections between buildings! Why can't you build pipelines and conveyor belts from one building to another? Pipe oil directly into a refinery, pipe refines oil products directly into a factory, etc. Or at least have separate entrances/exits for specific resources, so you can have insulated private road networks to distribute resources within a manufacturing zone!
Using the traffic manager mod you can control the individual lanes cars. This would help the traffic on your one ways by preventing cars from crossing into each other when merging.
I think vehicles pick a route to the closest train station at the very beginning of their journey rather than dynamically choosing the shorter routes. so your equidistant split off junctions don't matter in the grand scheme of the road design and traffic management
How about a Karen-District? Different speed restrictions on basically any road, no roundabouts and lots of traffic lights, but not where you would need them - plus overly complicated one-ways🤔
The train stations going to the highway should be a 4 lane highway with 1 lane dedicated to each train station so they won't have to cross traffic. Start with the furthest train station going to the outside lane and then each one taking the next lane in.
a more efficient use of trains would be to scatter 1 or 2 in various areas for your industry rather than having 4+ in a single area since they only use 1 or 2 anyway, or at least thats what I have observed in my few hundred areas.
wow only wow. I like Cities Skylines to watch. I would need to much DLC I think. Is there a free mode, that you can build your cities without worried about the money?
Hey Kibitz. Not sure if you've seen it but there's a game that may have been designed for you. It's in the steam store and it's called Sweet Transit. It's all about dem chooooooooos
Hi, at 18:55 what did you to that trucks will be using all of the train stations (instead of only two of them) from one moment to another? And you were talking about lane dynamics, is there a mod which makes traffic behave more sensible? There's a problem vehicles are changing highway lanes at a specific point and causing traffic jam.
Is there no way to force raw material/produced goods into a warhouse, then have the warhouse go to a train terminal ? Wouldn't that end up making less trafic ?
Everyone is saying to use lane connectors with a 4 road instead it should be left to right 1 way then 2 then 3 then 4 and since you have two 2 way outputs its pretty much solved

8:00 or you could move one of the exits to the right side of the highway, so merging traffic doesn't conflict with the other exit.

Learned a thing or two about train track workings and train station multiplying, nice
you should use the airport cargo train station instead of the train station because they work the same and the first has an extra train platform
I’m beginning to love this series
If you want a more compact train interchange, you can make one branch over the top and once branch underground.

You can use lane management to solve traffic
Yeah I'm struggling managing my square grid city and this dude has this shit?
kibs i think a partial problem is the sudden corner you have instead of just using a merger system on both ends
The train stations going to the highway should be a 4 lane highway with 1 lane dedicated to each train station so they won't have to cross traffic. Start with the furthest train station going to the outside lane and then each one taking the next lane in.
