12 এ পড়ি আমি আমার কাছের কিছু মানুষকে সত্যি খুব ঘৃণা করি জানেন। আপনি বলছিলেন আমাদের আগের জেনারেশনের সর্বোচ্চ চাওয়া হলো একটা বাড়ি একটা গাড়ি। এদের আনন্দের খোরাক জমাতে এতটুকুই দরকার। তার জন্য তারা সবই করতে পারে। তারা ৬/৭ লাখ টাকা ঘুষ দিয়ে ৮ হাজার টাকা বেতনের চাকরি নেয় আজও। আজও বাড়ি করার জন্য পুরো ২৫ বছরের সবকিছু বিসর্জন দেয়। আমাদের জেনারেশন নিয়েও আমি খুবই হতাশ। আমাদের বিদায়ের সময় Rag day পালন করতে ১২ লাখ টাকা চাঁদা উঠিয়েছে কলেজের স্যারদের তত্ত্বাবধানে। ঐটা টাকা দিয়ে তারা রং মাখবে, ৪০০ টাকার টিশার্ট কিনবে, ১০০ টাকার খাবার খাবে। অথচ এই করোনাকালে এদেশে কত মানুষ অসহায়! কত মানুষ শীতে পোশাক কিনতে পারছে না। আমরা পারতাম ঘোষনা দিয়ে কলেজ মাঠে দুস্থ এতিমদের মাঝে শীতের জামা বিতরন করতে, পারতাম রাস্তার মোড়ে শুয়ে থাকা ২ বেলা না খেয়ে ঘুমানো মানুষগুলোকে ১ বেলা ভালো কিছু খাওয়াতে, পারতাম প্যাডেল চালানো রিক্সাচালককে ১ কেজি গোশত কিনে দিতে। পারতাম আমরা পারতাম, একটা দিন অন্তত আমরা অন্যভাবে পালন করতে পারতাম। কিন্ত 😔

not to brag but i am damn sure most people in Bangladesh don't have the intellectual capacity or philosophical understanding to get the message of this series. I am not even talking about illiterate people. Even with graduation certificates, most won't understand. I believe i have understood a lot because i have felt what you have just said in the last two years. When covid started, i was 26. Now i am 28 and running. I am not even a very much practising Muslim. Sometimes I get angry at God when i feel distressed. But Everytime at the end i have discovered again and again in my head- God is the only hope in the very depressing existence of life. No matter how angry or frightening God seems to be according to the religious speakers' speech; if i have to hold onto life i must believe in God's compassion and justice. Thanks for the series.

There are sound logical arguments which support the probability of the "existence" of God. I concur with Faham Abdus that there is no meaning without God. But God is not just a crutch. Secular humanists might be relying on "God like" crutches, but not the theists of any religion who truly believe in God the Almighty.

Why was transcendence their only reason. Without them, one couldn't have even thought of coming to the modern musical world which keeps influencing the youth. When modes of music change, the fundamental laws of the state always change with them;", why did he say so, is another tangent in itself.

"I would rather suffer but suffer with hope." I disagree with this point. If you have hope that means you haven't accepted your fate/current situation. You believe someday something will happen. And as time goes on or the situation goes worse, you struggle to hold that belief. You find your hope fading away. But you still cling to your hope, for without hope you have no reason to endure your sufferings. Your hope gives you a reason or a justification for your suffering. but what happens when you accept your fate? You don't need to justify your suffering anymore. There will be pain, and suffering, sure. (I'm talking about Camus's absurd man) But giving up all hope gives you freedom. You might feel melancholic but it can be a wonderful experience itself. You can be so much more passionate about life now. Hope or without hope, either way, suffering is a must. I would rather suffer without hope than with false hope. I know it's hard. But, maybe that's the best option we have. We need to stop giving ourselves false hope.

Great thoughts, but one little observation I would like to add to discussion is, religiosity and righteousness are synonymous in our culture. The biggest conundrum of Bengali mind is, can one be righteous without being religious! The recent insanity we have observed in the name of religion and religious sentiment in Bangladesh is not compatible by any standard of morality. I would like to believe that your fan base can think outside the square but at the same time I found many of the Islamic intellectuals who promote the Islamic concept of fairness and justice remained silent against the oppression of the religious minorities. My observation to the situation is, those who are opposing the illegitimate ruling class of Bangladesh at the moment, are we not validating these atrocities and intolerance by remaining silent to this injustice. Fairness means equality and that is why it’s called “fair and square.” All the best!
The injustice that was done against the minority was not done by a religious majority... it was the act of an irreligious.. unthinking mob! Yes, I heard that some religious people protected the homes and shrines of those minority, because their religion forbids injustice to anyone, including to a religious minority!

I disagree with this point.
If you have hope that means you haven't accepted your fate/current situation. You believe someday something will happen. And as time goes on or the situation goes worse, you struggle to hold that belief. You find your hope fading away. But you still cling to your hope, for without hope you have no reason to endure your sufferings. Your hope gives you a reason or a justification for your suffering.
but what happens when you accept your fate? You don't need to justify your suffering anymore. There will be pain, and suffering, sure. (I'm talking about Camus's absurd man) But giving up all hope gives you freedom. You might feel melancholic but it can be a wonderful experience itself. You can be so much more passionate about life now.
Hope or without hope, either way, suffering is a must. I would rather suffer without hope than with false hope.
I know it's hard. But, maybe that's the best option we have. We need to stop giving ourselves false hope.

Great thoughts, but one little observation I would like to add to discussion is, religiosity and righteousness are synonymous in our culture. The biggest conundrum of Bengali mind is, can one be righteous without being religious! The recent insanity we have observed in the name of religion and religious sentiment in Bangladesh is not compatible by any standard of morality. I would like to believe that your fan base can think outside the square but at the same time I found many of the Islamic intellectuals who promote the Islamic concept of fairness and justice remained silent against the oppression of the religious minorities. My observation to the situation is, those who are opposing the illegitimate ruling class of Bangladesh at the moment, are we not validating these atrocities and intolerance by remaining silent to this injustice. Fairness means equality and that is why it’s called “fair and square.” All the best!
The injustice that was done against the minority was not done by a religious majority... it was the act of an irreligious.. unthinking mob! Yes, I heard that some religious people protected the homes and shrines of those minority, because their religion forbids injustice to anyone, including to a religious minority!

Although I am a practicing Muslim, my answer to this is: Yes, it is very much possible for an individual to act morally without believing in God or religion. In fact Faith (in God) and Morality are not at all interdependent. This is the reason why in the Quran whenever God urges us to believe He also urges us to do righteous deeds in the same sentence (ayat). The obvious reason behind this is the reality that moral actions are not a function of faith. We need both faith and righteous deeds for salvation in the hereafter. Christian apologist William Lane Craig has articulated and explained this many times with much clarity.
