WOW, superlative! That is the most spectacularly beautiful knife I have seen to date. I am green with envy. I know "thou shall not covet" but I do. Thanks for the introduction!
I just put a bunch of cassidium coated parts into my car. Pistons were $2000 for a set of 4, however they are rated to 1600hp out of a 2.5L engine. They looked amazing.
Sick looking blade...can't believe such a gorgeous knife has still got that blasphemous pocket clip. If it had a deep carry clip, it would be an 11/10. My preference, I just like deep carry to keep it from bumping into things.
Cool looking knife, though, as an engineer, I think the use of casidiam (DLC) is a bit of novelty in the knife world. Does it increase hardness, corrosion and wear resistance? Yes, but so do many other lower cost coatings. It's a wonderful coating for materials with poor wear properties though, which is why you see it on aluminum and titanium (galling) components throughout the racing industry. I'd like to see knife makers take advantage of the PVD coatings a bit more like TiN, TiCN, etc.. These are used extensively in the cutting tool industry and can be applied in a number of color variations. Coatings aside, this is a beautiful piece of craftsmanship. Thanks for sharing.
As someone below pointed out, you've arrived at a point with knives where I'd hesitate to carry them. I don't abuse mine, but I don't baby them either, and some of these...sitting in their boxes in a drawer isn't why I'd get it. Investment maybe. Anyway that's what I'd tell myself when I write the check!
Deep carry pocket clip also helps protect your knife or whatever you are rubbing up against such as a car. The less knife hanging out of your pocket the less risk its gonna get scratched up or scratch up other surfaces.
Jim, I love deep carry pocket clips, because when I am sitting at my desk or in the car/truck the knife handle is not digging into my hip so much. I could just see Gavkoo giggling at you for that little nick you gave your thumb. lol Love my DOC custom too. Did you say what Blade Steel they used for all of them; I had to dig deep to find out CPM3V but that is not confirmed. There is a video of Marfione at Blade doing his grinding on one DOC live and the blades are pre CNC cut but Anthony does do a quick smoothing and sharpen on them Jim.
Pretty sure those internal blade stop plates are stainless. Theres a video out there of Tony talking about how stainless is such a better surface for bearings. better for locking strength too
Maybe you should try some of cold steels new products. I know that you adore custom knives, and cold steel can in no way possible equal a high end custom, but I think that you'd enjoy one of their espada knives with the new CTS XHP blade steel. The polished version is gorgeous! Just a recommendation.
I wonder if we'll be seeing this coating become commonplace in the gun world, I thought it was a titanium nitride similar to what Salient Arms is using on their bolt carriers at first. Sounds like it would be very useful on areas and parts that see a lot of ware.
You know, for someone who usually likes to view things from multiple perspectives, you sure were aggressive and one-sided on the pocket clip argument. Most of my friends and I use and love deep-carry pocket clips, because, when the whole knife is below the rim of your pocket it is MUCH harder to to fall out of your pocket while bending, climbing, etc. That being said, you're right, nobody cares that you carry a knife. But does that mean that we are a "super secret spy" and "insane"?
It's not "falling" out, knives get "pushed" out of my pocket with my thigh. While you're telling me it won't make a difference it works for me because of that reason. It works because your pants pocket has a lip on them, so, if your knife is all the way under the lip it cant come out. That is assuming ones pants fit normally. this is all personal experience so if yours doesn't agree then don't TELL me it doesn't work please.
Rusty Shackleford just a thought on deep carry PC ..that's what lanyards are for..im in a wheel chair and carry a rockstead KOU. its hard for me to to get it out of my pocket sitting in my wheelchair, so i have a 550 cord snake knot lanyard i made for it. I grab the lanyard with my pinky and ring finger and it works fine for me
I am referring to so many reviewers (and posts on forums) where the main reason people cite for wanting a deep carry clip is to be more discreet. That's pure BS. As far as the retention, a properly designed clip with the right tension and the right shape is what stops a knife from being pushed out of your pocket... not how close to the butt of the knife it is attached. I ride motorcycles, everything from Ducati to Road Glides and have never had a single knife from my collection push out of my pocket. A deep carry clip, especially on a knife without a lanyard, will always be more difficult to draw from the pocket. At the least, you're having to adapt to it. I detailed my thoughts better in the video...
I don't disagree ..its not right or wrong, its preference and experience. Being i am in a wheelchair i use lanyards on any deep carry clip and some of my not so deep clips when possible.. have the same probs with guns..arm rest on the chair gets in my way
On the fence with the deep carry, but, yes a but, If I had spent so much of my hard earned money on a knife as good as the Marfione Custom, believe me I would want it as deep as possible safe and secure in my pocket. I'm not keen on relying on just a lanyard hanging out of my pocket. IMO. Yes I would have the clip customised with a different style looks very painful Ouch no thanks. Great vid love the knife
This knife is absolutely beautiful! I just ordered a Marfione custom also. If you end up keeping this knife for a long time... What would you do to protect that blade long term? And keep that perfect shine too. I am getting a socom delta mirror polish. I just want to keep it looking as shiny as it should for a long time. Do you just use standard oil on the blade to preserve it? How about windex? hah (that was a joke)
Thank you. That knife is just insane. One day.. if I ever find one for sale.. I will buy a microtech custom bronzed / flame struck. Please email me if there is any possibility you would ever consider selling that knife. I know you probably have a long list of potential buyers, lol but Id love a chance to buy it. stlundp@yahoo.com And thank you for all of your awesome vids. You should be paid to do this.
I can't find any info about the knife on the microtechknives.com website. So what kind of steel is the blade made from? In any case, that is an absolutely bitchin' carry. You couldn't pry me from that knife with a crowbar. In addition to the amazing scales, spacer and lockbar, I love those oversize studs on the blade. You are so lucky to own such a knife. $1,150 is thievery. And yes, it is a murderous looking knife, speaking candidly. Thanks for being so honest as to verbalize that straight up.
hey Jim, awesome video and fantastic knife! if you still have it in your collection and ever are thinking of trading or selling I would be very interested in doing so with you. great work man
I love this knife it looks beautiful and I'd be very happy to own it but the ocd in me can't stand how all 4 fasteners are facing different directions or aren't in a pattern.
A lot of people are paying way to much for brand names. A lot of these knives are made there, brought here and then embellished with polishing. I hope you didn't pay over $45. I've got an eafengrow identical right down to the thumb stud.
Excellent video of a very beautiful knife. The only thing I would critique is that you seemed to get a bit too wound up about what seemed like a meaningless thing.
It's a beauty but I wouldn't have a use for it since I wouldn't want to get a scratch on it. It would just sit in a drawer...and I would take it out and drool over it once in a while.
Thank you for informing me that I don't like deep carry clips, I didn't realize when grabbing my folder out of my baggy shorts I was acting in stupidity. I hope in the future your are able to outlaw deep pocket carry clips. Hate for you to be annoyed.
Hope you don't take everything that everyone says in the world so personally... that'll lead to a pretty unhappy life. Might wanna stop reading newspapers and watching television to avoid future issues.
I do a lot of mirror finishes in my blades, but I can't understand how he does the mirror while keeping the flats bronze. Then again I do everything by hand so...... As for the grind it's completely possible to do a grind such as that by hand just takes time that's all.
I prefer deep carry not because the knife is more concealed but because the knife is all the way in my pocket, don’t know why just like that better than the butt of the knife hanging out.
Never say never. I can open my DOC with the thumb studs, even using the middle finger from underneath I can flick mine open. And my lanyard paracord is NOT deveined.
my folders's clips all look like a pen and fool most people, which is good, for most people have a bad stereotype about people who carry a cutting tool. I don't use my pocket knife for my work, and it would probably slip out of my back pocket if it wasn't for it's deep carry clip.
You can but an AR with a decent sight for that kind of money. I'll take the rifle any day. Only knife I'd ever spend over 200$ is a sebenza because I like the way they look. And for $1100 that blade should be perfectly centered down to the atom. I've got a 20 dollar kershaw chill that's centered. Beautifal knife I won't lie. And if it was a gift I would be happy as shit. But I would never buy it.
I completely disagree on the pocket clip comment. I STRONGLY prefer a deep conceal pocket clip, they look better to me and i prefer my knife protected and secure deeper in my pocket
You want to sale that? I guess I’m going to buy the killswitch in aluminum. I wanted the carbon fiber flipper with the mirror finish. But it is $995 probably $600 more then you want? God sale me this knife please!!!!!!
I agree, as long as you're carrying a state legal blade who gives a fuck if people know you're carrying. Hell I carry two blades. And I don't give a shit about how deep a pocket clip rides as long as it doesn't fuck up my palm like the fuck U clip I'm good.
Ronald Wilks I found 3 doc with the 6061-t6 aluminum. It’s about $1000 cheaper then this one. Marfione custom are really “semi-custom” by far the most expensive semi customs
your friend cut you off and bought it, used it, and then sold it to you so he essentially got a free knife to mess up for a while. like what is that!? thats like you buying the knife but me taking it off you for a while before giving it back to you? am i wrong? maybe i'm too cynical. beautiful knife though
+Michael Cousins Maybe just a wee bit too cynical. He didn't cut me off lol. I was done buying at the show anyway, spent more than I had planned on too. He carried it maybe twice, and never once cut anything with it, so it was a new knife for all intents and purposes when I got it.
+Jim Skelton interested in selling this? P.s. love your videos man, been a nightly thing for me the past few weeks. Thanks for putting in the time and effort.
Very cool Jim,,,thats one hell of a cutter ! cheers from Canada,,,,Spook
WOW, superlative! That is the most spectacularly beautiful knife I have seen to date. I am green with envy. I know "thou shall not covet" but I do. Thanks for the introduction!
I love how the knife sounds when you touch the carbon.
Awesome knife! wish i could afford something like this.
I just put a bunch of cassidium coated parts into my car. Pistons were $2000 for a set of 4, however they are rated to 1600hp out of a 2.5L engine. They looked amazing.
just bought this after seeing pop up on a site! honestly if it wasnt for this vid... never would of done that! same finish and everything!!!
you make amazing videos and have amazing knives. keep on truckin.
Beautifully made
/ love the Cassidium finish
Sick looking blade...can't believe such a gorgeous knife has still got that blasphemous pocket clip. If it had a deep carry clip, it would be an 11/10. My preference, I just like deep carry to keep it from bumping into things.
That's got to be the coolest knife I have ever seen if only I had the money
Cool looking knife, though, as an engineer, I think the use of casidiam (DLC) is a bit of novelty in the knife world. Does it increase hardness, corrosion and wear resistance? +zaknefain100 Oh wow someone actually intelligent and reasonable on the internet! I am both surprised and pleased!
zaknefain100 What kind of engineer are you? Just curious really.
now that is a beautiful knife ! great review. amazing how much better it looks with a sterile blade.
This is the most beautiful knife I’ve ever seen. But the practicality? It’s a conversation piece.
Shiney I love it, bar the clip, and price is out of my range, but, one can only dream, great vid :-)
As someone below pointed out, you've arrived at a point with knives where I'd hesitate to carry them. well I guess deep carry pocket clips are your pet-peeve haha. Thanks for the explanation of that coating too!
Jim, I love deep carry pocket clips, because when I am sitting at my desk or in the car/truck the knife handle is not digging into my hip so much.

Felipe fernandez great profile pic
I like the mirror finish on the blade, oh and everything else lol
That's a beautiful knife. I'm with you on deep carry pocket clips. I can't fucking stand them.
That knife is so beautiful!!!!
Get a belt grinder and a cheap cnc and you'll have 100 of these.
I wonder if we'll be seeing this coating become commonplace in the gun world, I thought it was a titanium nitride similar to what Salient Arms is using on their bolt carriers at first. Sounds like it would be very useful on areas and parts that see a lot of ware.
Lucius Sulla nice pic bro!

my absolute dream knife
Love your vids...keep em' coming
Insane, absolutely insane.
Never ever go the price but its cool.i like the non titanium .
Do they use captured bearings ?
Pretty insane, that's a beautiful knife. $1500 to $2000 though? Maybe one day. At this point, I'll take a car instead.
nice, great video jim
that is some insane polishing!
I flipped that knife... awesome. You wouldn't sell it to me hahaha.
Beautiful knife!
Awesome knife.
BTW, Casidiam (trademark) IS a DLC coating.
Looks like a flashy Rolex.I would have to chain it to my belt loop forget Paracord.
I use Aegis Knifecare Solutions EDCi on all of my blades
Thank you. That knife is just insane. One day.. if I ever find one for sale.. I will buy a microtech custom bronzed / flame struck. stlundp@yahoo.com
And thank you for all of your awesome vids. You should be paid to do this.
Work of art
Ohhhhhhh. Wow. That's a reaaalllllllllllly niiiiiiiiiiiiiicccccccce kniiiiiffffffffffffffffffffe.
It looks pretty cool
5 oz isn't much at all for what you get per ounce in that knife 😮 Actually that is very light and an excellent feat of design work 👌
My god, it's full of stars...
I can't find any info about the knife on the microtechknives.com website. So what kind of steel is the blade made from? In any case, that is an absolutely bitchin' carry. Sup wit that shallow carry pocket clip!
hey Jim, awesome video and fantastic knife! if you still have it in your collection and ever are thinking of trading or selling I would be very interested in doing so with you. great work man
holy f**k, that thing is amazing.
BEAUTIFUL!
I love this knife it looks beautiful and I'd be very happy to own it but the ocd in me can't stand how all 4 fasteners are facing different directions or aren't in a pattern.
And then I just saw the back of the knife and there is even more randomly orientated fasteners. ARRRRRRRGH
Agree
Wish I had one looks beautiful. But probably expensive.
Have the black one with the FU clip they really need to fix that still like it
A lot of people are paying way to much for brand names. A lot of these knives are made there, brought here and then embellished with polishing. I hope you didn't pay over $45. I've got an eafengrow identical right down to the thumb stud.
Wow awesome !!
That is what I do, but the flats on that knife aren't handrubbed.
2000? Pesetas? Perhaps a nicer box? Beautiful...
btw jim i know for a fact some think its a pen..granted they were knife nut girls\women so it wasn't in their thought process that it cold be a knife
Why is this a problem? This type of knife enters the realm of art. No difference in its function to a Rolex. It's a show piece.
But I wear my Rolex everywhere...and it actually functions to show me the date and time.
wish i could afford stuff like this :D
I wish this dude would give me this...
Might wanna stop reading newspapers and watching television to avoid future issues.
how much money have u spent on all of ur knives not exact price just a rough price
I do a lot of mirror finishes in my blades, but I can't understand how he does the mirror while keeping the flats bronze. Then again I do everything by hand so...... As for the grind it's completely possible to do a grind such as that by hand just takes time that's all.
Probably mirror the bevels on a buffing wheel, then satin sand the flats afterwards.
So awesome. in other words SIK
It's better when you give alsow link to shop with preis from this knife , whrilly nice Blade 👍 1,6K $
I prefer deep carry not because the knife is more concealed but because the knife is all the way in my pocket, don’t know why just like that better than the butt of the knife hanging out.
Hello what video camera is this?
Haha I love the deep carry rant
Why can't you make the lock with carbon fiber.and steel lock face and spring .
It's still close to the FU pocket clip.
Whoa that looks.... odd
Not too bad, i need to get a Marfione
Me too- I'd love to have that one and I'm not intimidated by the grind atall!
I like it.
Never say never. I can open my DOC with the thumb studs, even using the middle finger from underneath I can flick mine open. And my lanyard paracord is NOT deveined.
Jim, do you still have this knife and want to sell it?

Try using the dimples to open the blade you don't have to be superman ;^) thumb stud opening isn't impossible IMO
I want it!!!
I completely disagree on the pocket clip comment. I STRONGLY prefer a deep conceal pocket clip, they look better to me and i prefer my knife protected and secure deeper in my pocket
That's a $4k knife to me. iIf the holy Grail was an actual knife it would look like that.
I could never have one of these, a single scratch on the blade even the ones that you can only see at an angle would ruin it for me.
You want to sale that? I guess I’m going to buy the killswitch in aluminum. I wanted the carbon fiber flipper with the mirror finish. But it is $995 probably $600 more then you want? God sale me this knife please!!!!!!
The amount of times he swallows
Such a high Price
Blade not centered
2,327/10 Wouldn't even flick with ABC Grade working gloves.
what kind of screws are those holy shit, id unscrew the clip btw
My exact opinion of most people.
14:04
wow nice blades im too poor to get these (T.T)
I agree, as long as you're carrying a state legal blade who gives a fuck if people know you're carrying. Hell I carry two blades. And I don't give a shit about how deep a pocket clip rides as long as it doesn't fuck up my palm like the fuck U clip I'm good.
👍👍👍👍👍
Do you want to sell it.
Trade for a used spyderco Persistance??
😟Jealous
Knife porn? Damn that knife is hot. The production blades should be in lower case d.o.c. because that thing just screams DEATH ON CONTACT !
Casidiam coating
I have the killswitch 601
Ronald Wilks I found 3 doc with the 6061-t6 aluminum. It’s about $1000 cheaper then this one. Marfione custom are really “semi-custom” by far the most expensive semi customs
12:17 that was a really weird voice change
2 grand knife and it's not perfectly centered?!
Would you sell it? ;)
I'm serious... ;)
Soft hands Skelton! Lol
your friend cut you off and bought it, used it, and then sold it to you so he essentially got a free knife to mess up for a while. like what is that!? thats like you buying the knife but me taking it off you for a while before giving it back to you? am i wrong? maybe i'm too cynical. beautiful knife though

Haha I see :) I guess thats how it goes anyway. Do you keep every knife you buy or do you pass them on as well? I've always wondered that..
+Michael Cousins I buy, sell and trade constantly.
thats such an awesome way to do it!
+Jim Skelton interested in selling this? P.s. love your videos man, been a nightly thing for me the past few weeks. Thanks for putting in the time and effort.
2:11 *_OUCH_*
gets worked up about the carry clip 🤣😂🤣😂😃😁😉
