    Even if Thomas is an embarrassment to rail fans, many heritage lines rely on Thomas events to make money. I can understand your absolute hatred though as I've been bullied by others for being a steam rail enthusiast just because of the little blue devil

    I also heard that the T1 trust is ironing out some of the biggest problems like the wheelslip and they are putting on a simpler Type B poppet valve gear as seen on the C&O L2-A Hudson.

    If you think the PRR S1 was bad, check out the experimental AA20 of Russia, that engine was a 4-14-4. And as you may have guessed, it literally straightened some tracks.

      @anasiacameronelijahedcpndc4324 4 года назад +2

      I'm disappointed about The Experimental AA20 of Russia because it wasn't really a proper locomotive. It wrecked every points it passed over, derailed almost every time it moved, it was to long for turntables, it was too big for couplers at that time, it was too long, too powerful, function over form, restly completely thrown out of the window and unceremoniously scrapped 23 years later in 1960 after 1934-1936. And if somebody's buying to build a full size replica of The damn long thing, THEY DON'T HAVE TO DO IT!!!, one one has already been enough. TWO can't be Incredible. It will be complete disasters!!! So the AA20-1 didn't work, and it was too big, too long, and too powerful. And if someone still wants to build a full size replica of The Experimental AA20-1 of Russia, THEY DON'T HAVE TO DO IT BECAUSE IT VERY FUCKING SUCKED!!! And if Jim would've put it on his list, then he would use like 4 F bombs! And if we want to build a full scale steam engine, do it based on a class that was actully good. Like the Regular Soviet 2-10-4 Texas type without having the cylinder over the middle wheels like the OR23, or the Extinct Canadian and American Texas types, Or the extinct UP 4-10-2s, or the SP, PRR, UP, Santa Fe, Frisco, N&W, SSW, CB&Q or The B&M 4-10-4s, or the 2-10-4s from South Africa and Brazil, Or the German 2-12-0s, or the Extinct 2-10-2s, 2-10-0s, and the 0-10-0 Big Bertha next member #2291 from the UK, or the 2-10-2s from the UK. And while we're at it and if we have a million bucks to spare. Why not get ourselves new cars. And for us personally, there can be only 3 #20 because the 20 is in The Experimental AA20-1 of Russia. Like one in the US, UK and Canada.

    The 34027 "taw valley" was originally going to be the hogwarts express,but GWR 5972 "olton hall" was chosen to be the hogwarts express instead of 34027 because the director of Harry Potter and the sorcerer's stone said that 34027 looked to modern for the film,so 5972 is now the hogwarts express.

    Coming back to this video after a long time & becoming an adult, I've come to realize that you used some of the Soundtrack from 'Transformers: Armada' in this video. Specifically, the OST was used for entries number 8, 6, and 1.
    And I love all three of these music pieces, as they (Those specifically used for entries number 6 and 1.) really sells the idea that the Decepticons were a far more major threat than what they were back in G1.

    For once I'm happy a Great Northern engine didn't make it on a top ten list. But to play devils advocate for some of the engines while the Allegheny's never could reach their full potential (for most of their working lives) they did preform well enough in what they did, again not fantastic and had the C&O put them on fast freight they would have been perfectly fine, plus they did better then a majority of ATSF articulateds. And at least two out of 68 is a far better track record then two out of 252 Challengers built by Alco and Baldwin (mostly Alco) which were used on nine railroads, and to be totally honest the UP Challengers weren't the best ever made.
    As for the B&M T-1 and PRR S-1... Okay I could only defend the Alleghenys since the points you brought up were completely valid. But I would like to thank you for informing me about the 2-12-6 design, I'm very interested in learning the history behind all sorts of locomotives whether they got off the drawing board or not. At last I found someone who knew the E2's are shit. The fact I've seen literal children online fantasize about killing the men who scrapped these steam lemons simply because Thomas was one is both amazing and pathetic at once.
    These engines were absolute shit and while I do have a guilty pleasure for the earlier Thomas seasons and Railway Series books, that shouldn't be a reason to warrant a new E2 built that would likely have all the problems the original 10 had.

    I agree. The e2s do suck. Although I do think with a thorough rebuild they could’ve worked well. I think if they extended the bunker, extended the cab and somehow made it use less water. Then I think it would’ve worked perfectly for branch lines though. Then they would’ve never had to work at South Hampton. While it is idealised by popular culture I don’t think it makes it awful. I do think if Thomas didn’t exist or was a j50. Then the e2s wouldn’t get as much hate. In fact they would just be forgotten about entirely. Still, while they may suck I can tolerate them. And if someone decides to do a replica I won’t complain. Also good job with the vid 👍

      Jim van der Kolk The London Brighton and South Coast Railway E2s (I hate those engines as much as you do) could have ended service in 1930s or 1940s because Southern Railway in Britain was originally going to convert the ENTIRE Southern Railway with three rail electrification system in the 1920s and 1930s and have it done by 1960s but unfortunately Britain declared WWII and the three rail electrification system conversion for the Southern Railway was on hold.
      That explains why the E2s (The Really Useless Engines of them all) kept working into Southern and British Railway days.

    To be fair, the E2’s were deemed successful by the LBSCR as they weren’t really designed for passenger work. As for the fuel capacity, look at similar sized locos like the panniers. The A2/2s honestly were not terrible, they just had bad slipping problems and seems to have suffered from their designer’s reputation. I’m not defending the DX Goods, cause they actually were as bad as people let on.

      Steve Barnes Considering there was a war going on and a backlog of repairs at Brighton because of it. That’s why on 17 of Billington’s K class moguls were built as the rest we’re abandoned. Looking at it from an objective standpoint, the E2s were successful at their intended purpose and just not versatile, which is what the fed panniers and lens jintys get praised for, even though all three are in the same league in terms of power.

      Steve Barnes That’s the issue, some sources say the boiler was capable, some don’t. I’d say it’s a miracle we know so much about the E2s considering how little we know about locos from the same railway at a similar time. Like I said, the LBSCR seemed them successful. Just because the lacked versatility that other shunters had and was the base for a pop culture icon doesn’t automatically make it garbage.

    The S1 was actually regarded highly by crews who ran her. As she was very smooth, very free steaming, and very fast. A division manager of Fort Wayne said that crew often had to hold her back, lest she breaks Mallards speed record. There was one time the S1 hauled a 90 car freight train at 73 mph. I liken the S1 to the Caledonian Single 123, a show girl who had a few tricks up her sleeves. I’d say the bigger failure was the PRR Q1 cool looking, but the opposing cylinders were a headache. Also the S1 was easier to maintain than the T1s due to the latter’s Franklin Poppet Valve Gear. Was she a show girl? Yes. Was she extremely long? No denying it. Was she slippery? All duplexes are. Was she a failure? Not really.
