  • This step by step process of me salvaging my pants hopefully will help you if you find yourself in the same situation.

    This reweaving method is just something I came up with on the spot, not the prescribed method.

    You're probably aware of the Japanese repair technique Kaketsugi, part of it is a lot like this. They however used a thread loop connected to the end of their needle to catch the frays and pull them through it was a lot faster. Thank you for the interesting video! I want to try this myself sometime, but I'm far from a professional.

      Stephanie Forristall yeah I’ve been seeing a lot of the technique I’ll like to try it again just with better skill and method

    The first patch was close. A "ladder" stitch would have probably laid better.
    I've never seen reweaving before. Holy cow!!! Yes, with a larger patch that lined up on the "square" of the plaid it would have probably been completely invisible.
    My husband could keep you in business with all his alterations and mendings!!
    I just found your channel and I love it!! Thanks for this new idea!

    well done, I used to own a dry cleaning and tailoring business in NY, there was a woman from Stamford Ct that had a route she would stop by each week to pick up work for reweaving. They used the technique you featured in you video, and other techniques. It is an art.

    Just discovered your channel through the kavalier and I'm very happy I found this, since I've already been becoming interested in sewing and repairing clothes. No one in the family knows how to do this or wants to do this, so there's always a lot to fix. c:

      @@AspiringGent Maybe you could do a video on hemming pants. I'm sure it would garner a lot of views, since it's a very frequent alteration. Maybe even together with how to cuff pants.
      I have these suit pants (puu.sh/D5iBX/e6ae7e25a3.JPG), which don't really look all too tidy and I want to shorten them and maybe add a cuff, but I haven't yet gathered the confidence to do so.

    I will give you an A for the effort
    I have been watching japanese videos and it is incredible the way they do it. I tried to do some weaving but it didn’t work. Some weavers use a thread with a loop, others use latch needles. I would like to know if there’s a place that teaches you how to do it. I am happy to find people like you, curious.

    Should have used a bigger patch and lined it up to meet up with the major lines in the pattern. But good tutorial anyway.

    Good deal. Just curious, is there a reason you don't pull the thread tails through the inside of the pants to hide them?

    • @AspiringGent
      @AspiringGent  5 лет назад

      Joey Barden when they go inside you don’t have to worry about trimming them on the outside and compromising the look

      I thought the same thing, but then I remembered he had the black patch already affixed. Maybe that was why?

    Could you use threadlock on the ends you pull through or would that cause stiff spots in the fabric?

    • @AspiringGent
      @AspiringGent  5 лет назад +1

      Randy Robison I would stick with the fusing because the thread lock would most likely be too stiff. Plus I don’t know how the thread lock would perform once being cleaned.

    All of that weaving that you did you could’ve done that with the original L shaped tear and would’ve came out with better results. I just use color matching thread
