  • Hollywood on Parade was a series of short subjects produced by Paramount Pictures between 1932 and 1934. They showcased the studio's stars both in newsreel-type footage (glimpses of Hollywood figures at premieres, parties, the races, etc.) and in new material such as sketches or musical numbers. The print quality of these isn't the greatest, but nevertheless there's some interesting stuff here. Also note that there's a numbering system associated with these shorts, but because some of the information I've found is conflicting and confusing, I just made up my own numbers to differentiate between them.
In this installment, several stars are on hand to plug The Big Broadcast. Harold Grayson's orchestra plays the "Hollywood on Parade" theme song, and then announcer Stuart Erwin introduces Bing Crosby. Bing doesn't sing straight off because first we get a bit of comedy with George Burns and Gracie Allen. After this though Bing performs "Auf Wiedersehen, My Dear." The rest of the show is devoted to supposedly proving that screen comedians are as funny off-screen as they are in their pictures. Ole Olsen and Chic Johnson and a number of gals are shown on the beach doing their thing.

Thank you for Hollywood on Parade from 1932. In addition to the wonderful crooning of Mr. Crosby and Burns and Allen's comic routine, some pre-code material involving the blonde in the bathing suit exposing a part of her anatomy (spoiler alert).

Some excellent stuff here and the print quality is just fine. I am not one of those nitwits who complain about everything

Hollywood on Parade A-2 not part 12.Why these are titled wrong is beyond me.It say A 2 on the title card. Its contents are described on IMDb as A2 why do they all have the incorrect numbers?
