That would be great, but the moment I go out of the draw distance of the structure to get more animals, the ones inside will just despawn. That would be virtually impossible

Look for dead wood. Theyre often in the main road on the way to Mutant Land and you might even find redwood in between. One stump can render you up 40 wood. Better than live trees
