    Just started watching your videos recently. I was going to ask if you like living in North Carolina and then got my answer. I'd like to move out of Michigan in the next few years and NC looks like a good choice. And on a side note, I for one, enjoy the restroom tours.

    • @GoingNoWhereFast
      @GoingNoWhereFast  5 лет назад +1

      LOL, Only those weak have a problem with the restroom tours.. LOL. I do like NC, People say Tennessee is a little nicer, no income tax. But EVERYTHING Else is taxed, food, cloths, drugs, gas. Also I like being in the same time zone as my family. This side of the mountains rarely sees severe weather, though flooding is possible if your in a river flood zone. And the gulf and east coast are both an easy drive away. It does get hot and humid here, no worse than NY, but the SUN is extremely intense. So, yes, I like it a lot. I'm pretty sure I made the best decision of where to live. Lots of intelligent people and lots of good hearted people.

    I would love 40 degrees in the winter!! Nice bathroom, :)

    • @GoingNoWhereFast
      @GoingNoWhereFast  6 лет назад

      40 degrees is ideal camping/sleeping weather. Especially for climbing mountains and sitting in front of a campfire ! Though 50 is a little nicer for sitting around ! :-)

    Glad to see you went to Stone Mtn. Go back when it’s not raining and hike to top. There is also an old homestead on the loop. Another great place to check out is Grayson Highlands just over the border in VA. If you go there try and stay at Grindstone campground. Great place to go in the spring.

    I really enjoy your videos. I have a Chalet / Alpine that I picked up used a couple years ago. Much like your Aliner. I'm going to get to a couple free spots this year that you reviewed. Moose river and Horse shoe lake. I try to camp alot ,but never have done any "boondocking". Good luck in North Carolina

    Pretty nice tour for a rainy day. Looks like a great campground. The trail had beautiful features for us to see on camera - not so sure how easy it was for you, Dakota, and Caesar to walk it in the rain. Looking forward to your thoughts on the “yearly evaluation” video.

    • @GoingNoWhereFast
      @GoingNoWhereFast  6 лет назад

      Ya, they like the wet a lot. We are making reservation to camp there right now. I think Early April will be Flowering Rodoe Time !! So more and better to come from there !! Did you notice the Homemade Wooden banjo in the little Country store !! I asked about Dulcimers and the kid watching the shop wasn't sure !! We'll check again later !

    • @LoveMtDulcimerMusic
      @LoveMtDulcimerMusic 6 лет назад

      Going NoWhereFast Did you ever see the Foxfire book series? One of the books shows how mountain people made banjos, dulcimer, etc. The banjo might be similar to patterns in the book. There is an interesting history behind the Foxfire book series. Glad to here you will be camping at that neat park.

    • @GoingNoWhereFast
      @GoingNoWhereFast  6 лет назад

      Yes I read the Foxfire series... your showing your age though !! They were printed in the early 70's, maybe even from the late 60's... LOL. Great books about the "culture" of the mountains !

      Absolutely sticking around. And thank you for the comment on my channel It started as a way to showcase the Mountains to Sea Trail, and now I'm blogging several hikes. I'm sure I will see you out there one day. I look forward to the post about your first 3 years!

    Mountain laruals and rhododendron are natural to the mountains of nc and va...laruals have shorter leaves while dendrons are brown and fuzzy underneath. They're all over the eastern mountains...

    Stone Mtn., NC is a great place to visit, hike, and Camp. We used the "primitive" campsites many years back (over 10 yrs.), by a river, and enjoyed the experience. You have to have your own water and supplies, and carry in what you need, plus make your own toilet area...but it was a great time. The waterfalls were crawling with people as this was the Summer, and probably a weekend. If you want a more mellow experience maybe try to avoid weekends and Peak times. Great video, BTW.www.ncparks.gov/stone-mountain-state-park

    What is the rates, And location

    • @GoingNoWhereFast
      @GoingNoWhereFast  6 лет назад

      Elden Cater the park is free to enjoy. The camping I believe is $27 a night for electrical. Usually non-electric is $5 less. The park is just west of I-77 just below the Virginia. State line about 40 miles.
