  • Pyongyang is by far the weirdest and strangest place I have ever been to. At the same time it's also one of the the most interesting and intriguing places and unlike anywere else I have ever been to. You go there with 100 questions and you return with 1000!
While I have no support for the government there, many things could be said at this point about North Korea, but I really do not want to get involved in politics here, so please do your own research.
Many thanks to Simon Cockerell and Jessica Mader from Koryo Tours ( koryogroup.com ) and Ri So Hyang, Kim Sun Mi, Lee Song Hyok, Kim Yong Un from KITC for arranging permissions and making this project possible.
By the way: I did not get paid to shoot this film!

That was actually pretty amazing. Saw other vids of N-K, but this one is quite unique. Maybe through the time-laps, the different view-angles of daily life and the...effect (blur in the corners, giving it DoF) that made it look like toy-models or a miniature world. It was also pretty high resolution I had the impression. Well done! Gets a like.

The city looks very nice. Every country has it's own problems but to me it is very impressive that at least the capital city looks so nice. All this built for the people despite American sanctions and a need of the Korean government to spend so much money on the defence (especially nuclear) . Can you imagine how nice the whole country could look like if the Koreans weren't under constant threat of the USA ? Americans try to destroy either economically or militarily any country which doesn't follow its model. Any country in such a situation needs to spend huge part of its wealth on the defence and having limited resources there is never enough to invest in all other areas. Despite that great progress is being made although at a slower pace. American propaganda paints a picture of North Korea as dirt poor country where its people suffer hunger, everyone walks like a zombie to work or is snatched from the street and shipped to a concentration camp. One could go to some neighbourhoods in American cities and make a video showing homeless junkies and present such image of USA to the world.

@@akapasokopo You can say that the DPRK is far from perfect in the DPRK as well. Their political ideology is not idealistic in nature and so they know full well that their country is not ideal on many levels, as applies to every country in the world.
You can say pretty much anything you want there, really, but things that might be socially acceptable in the west might get you some strange looks or angry reactions in the DPRK.
Insulting the leader is not considered socially appropriate for example. It's not illegal per se but it will cause the people to treat you with distrust.
I know several north Koreans as well as westerners who have lived and worked in the DPRK. It's a very misunderstood country and a lot of what we're told about it here in the west is just tabloid garbage and/or US information warfare.
