@@woodyw6891 How is that possible? 15 years old. Wouldn't that be statatory rape? Are the laws different from state to state? I live in Norway. You have to be 16 to have sex here, 18 to vote or drive a car.
Aren't the Boeberts relatively well off?? What are the chances the girl became pregnant on purpose because the father would be well off. That seems to be the major goal of many young women now..to have a baby-daddy with deep pockets.
Agreed. Also it's strange that Boebert doesn't mention this girl at all. My heart goes out to her, nobody should get pregnant at that age and on top of that get the Boeberts as family.
The difference is it’s okay in her eyes, because it’s sex between a boy & girl. So, it’s fine for little kids to conceive children, but not mature enough to choose their gender or decide not to carry a child. Hypocrites, the whole lot.
Boebert "I stand for traditional family values, and against immoral behaviour." Also Boebert "It's great that my unmarried son got his teenage girlfriend pregnant."
There is a big financial cost to raising an infant. Can her son and girlfriend manage that? Probably not and as with many, they wanted sex and not the outcome responsibility. Hope the baby is healthy but it could be a soul which presents life challenge to all involved. I recall a classmate pregnant in highschool and she loved her child but this soul had down syndrome and that was not easy.
I already feel sorry for this child. Her son surely isn't ready to be a dad and neither is she ready to be a grandmother. Stuff like this just weirds me out!
Children of teen mom's less depression then kids raise by progressives. And David does look Divorced parents much older. You those kinds of single mothers
Can you imagine the conservative backlash if a black woman politician got up on stage and bragged not only about being a teen mother herself, but also about her teenage son impregnating another teenager?? Would the room be clapping?
Kind of like when Sarah Palin was screeching about abstinence while her 17 year old daughter stood next to her, pregnant and unwed. GROSS. Those people are disgusting.
What will Boebert think or do if "the life of the mother" is a life or death issue with a problem pregnancy. Would she let the mother die even though the baby would have no chance at life in a troubled pregnancy. Wouldn't that be an interesting issue?
I was a teenage mother and reacted the opposite of Boebert because life was hard for us without higher education. I stressed education, taught my daughter about the responsibility and consequences of sex, she was provided with birth control and went on to earn her PhD and now has one son who has has skipped two grades in school and has been co-piloting a plane with his dad since he was 12. Too bad she didn’t learn from her mistake and ensure her sons were educated, more responsible and had better opportunities for life.
Boebert herself got pregnant at 17 to a guy with a record of exposing himself in a bowling alley. What I would call 'trapped in a cycle of teen pregnancy' she calls 'understanding the preciousness of a life'.
I call her and her fam typical white trash. And when it comes to every stereotypical behaviour that goes along with it, they do it all. A pervert exposing himself to underage girls, kids and husband blasting up and down the streets taking out their neighbours' mail boxes, teen pregnancy, gun freaks, leaving the scene of a DUI accident, etc.

He doesn't have a criminal record for that, and I think he was 19 wasn't he? A 19-year-old having sex with a 17-year-old is no big deal and very standard. edit: oh ok, at 24 going up to highschoolers exposing yourself is definitely not ok.

Obviously, one or both parents did not have ‘the talk’ and now there’s a teen pregnancy. I would have hoped that they wouldn’t want to perpetuate another teen pregnancy. How old are these kids?
What she's doing here is - she waited as long as she could before announcing this, and now she's doing a happy-face announcement as a P.R. strategy to get out in front of the news before others bring it up!
I was a grandpa at 40, my daughter was 26 when she had my grandson Jayden. I had a child when I was 13, I stressed upon her how stupid we were and she was smart enough to listen and to not start a family until she’d been discharged from the Air Force. Bettering the next generation is all you can do.
Sounds like you at least had the capacity to learn and pass that on to your daughter mate. You have thoroughly failed to qualify as a chav, unlike Lauren Bobblehead, the Queen of the Chavs in her neighbourhood (many have one, you know the sort).
Yeah, I bet she's excited - I had a grandchild at 36 too - I was 20 when my daughter was born, and she got pregnant when she just turned 16- I ended up basically raising my granddaughter because her mother couldn't handle it, either emotionally or financially - and it was not easy, as my husband worked on the road and I needed to work full time to make ends meet - I had 2 younger daughters who helped out, but it wasn't an ideal situation - they weren't old enough to be alone with the baby while I worked, and they had school and needed their sleep and their own mom to be there for them - Why people can't get behind contraceptives and better sex education and counseling is beyond me 🤷♀️
This whole comment. People acting like it's just a blessing. It can ruin someone life if they don't have a family that are willing to pay for Their child. Kudos for you!!
I think the difference is that Boebert has an ocean of morons to grift from while you had to stick it out like a normal person. Very best wishes from Canada.

I suspect that Lauren is education-proof and maturation-proof by now, having "achieved" so much in her life that she's smugly certain she needs no further changes or information. You would think that being barely able to defeat her Democratic opponent in a red district last time might have been a wake-up call, but she's clearly determined never to be woke.
I was a teen when I had my son. I can tell you from experience that it's a hard way to go. Father disappeared and left me trying to work to support us and also trying to get an education. Very hard life no matter how much you love your child
I was lucky to avoid that problem as a teenager, but I knew quite a few people who did have teen pregnancies. One thing that always sucks for their girls in that situation is they get labeled every negative thing if they are pregnant as teens/ in high school, while the guys don't have to deal with negativity and often get looked at positively.
You should tell young people about your experience. Most young people are simply not aware of how terrible it is to be a teen mom for both parent and child. How it can ruin an entire bloodline. They think they can have reckless sex without consequence without realizing that birth control fails sometimes.
@@markcadieux3445 Check your facts because Loretta Lynn was known for lying about her age. She was married at 15, even though she claimed in her book that she was married at 13, and for her to be a grandma at 28 her child would have needed to be a parent at 13. It doesn't add up.
They are all for no sex before marriage per their Christian values, but when it’s their teen having sex and making babies out of wedlock, it’s all great and should be celebrated. I don’t care personally, only the hypocrisy gets to me.
Of course its a good thing, the mother didn't have an abortion. Now let's see just how much assistance "Grandma" and her Republican "friends" are when confronted with teen parenting in their own family. Even though one of her sons is about to be a father, she still calls them boys?

About 10 years ago I had a co-worker who, at age 58, was showing off her Christmas card that had 5 generations on it. Her with her daughter and granddaughter, and her mom and grandma. Her granddaughter was the only non-teen parent of the bunch, being 20-something. She was also the first to go to college. Took 5 generations to break the cycle. Oh, and all 4 generations were unwed mothers who later got married and divorced. Pattern?? 🤔

Exactly! I got pregnant at 17 and had my son when I was 18. I busted my ass to give him everything in life, not just materially but emotionally. I was determined to not let him be another statistic or let him repeat the cycle. Not only was he the child of a teen mother, his father passed away from alcoholism when my son was 11yrs old. So we got to add fatherless child of an alcoholic to the list of things to overcome. Well I can proudly say that my now 23yr old son was a great kid, played varsity football, never touched drugs, didn't have his first drink until he was 22, graduated, has a great career and lives across the country with his girlfriend whom he plans on marrying before they even discuss having children. I'm just grateful that he realized how hard it was for me to give him the life he had and how it would have been so much easier if I was more established in life when I had him. I don't regret any of it because I love him more than life itself but it was by no means easy.

Yeah it's weird how her daughter didn't get that message. Of course if her daughter had no sex education, just "abstinence only" talks I can see why she ended up pregnant. I believe her daughter got pregnant out of wedlock a second time too right? That family is so screwed up.

I just became a grandmother at 65. My 36yo daughter is mature and responsible, holds an advanced degree, has traveled extensively, is well paid and has a portfolio that will help their family to be financially secure and give their new baby many opportunities. Was Boebert's son even taught to set educational goals and build a rewarding career? His future was limited by his ignorant and irresponsible parents, even before his own ignorant and irresponsible act of getting his girlfriend pregnant. No college opportunities are likely for those teenagers now. Hardly a cause for celebration.
As a father of two, who had his first at 30, I do wish I had started a little earlier… but DAMN. This is nuts. These kids don’t even get a chance to grow into their futures and find out who they want to be.
I had my first at 30, as well. Idk about starting earlier haha but it’d be nice to have the energy I had when I was younger. I feel like being mature, loving, selfless, and present for a baby/kid has helped tremendously but those were traits that came with life experience. I most definitely was not the same person at 16 that I was in my 20’s. Not the same person from 20 to 25 or to 30. Or 30 to now. Young people, use contraceptives, play responsibly.

Yes! Let's exercise this principle to its logical limit. Let's have girls impregnated on their first menstrual period, by boys having their first viable ejaculation! These days, that's what, about eight or nine years old for girls and maybe a year or two older for boys? Let's get behind real family values! And also, let's treat these people like the adults they are. They must work to support their families. They carry full legal liability as adults for any mistakes they make. And, oh, almost forgot. That’s very bad medical advice. Geriatric pregnancy starts at 35 for women. You aren’t healthier or more fit at 35 than 20. When your kid is 20 you’ll be 60. How many quality years does that poor kid get? I’ve enjoyed my kids since 18. I hope you aren’t a therapist or a teacher.
@@reneportillo532 You know good and well she isn’t giving “medical advice.” Most of us Gen Xers and Millennials were told our entire lives that we needed to be well situated before we had any kids. So, we took our time in our 20s, went to college or got settled in our careers, likely got married, bought houses, etc. before we consciously decided to have children. I am 36 and will have my first child after I turn 37 later this year. Am I scared about being older, yes, but my OB is confident and says I have no reason to worry. Pregnancy and childbirth is different for everyone. Many more women are having children later in life. There are many 70-80 year olds who are fit and dementia-free, so yes, I think these children will still have “quality years” with their parents. I am glad your choices worked out well for you, but no need to shame others who have waited. The main criticism against Lauren here is that she preaches about family values, which in my experience do not include glorifying teen sex and pregnancy. It is frustrating when they want to have it both ways. There is more than enough statistical evidence out there to show when young teens have children, they forfeit income and other life accomplishments that people do not forfeit when they wait until their 20s or later to start families.

She's bragging about the rate of teen motherhood being higher in rural communities. Not sure that's something to brag about. Also, part of the reason they have fewer abortions in rural communities than urban communities is the lack of clinics, lack of funds, and to some extent the lack of education in the rural communities. Put those same girls into the suburbs or city and they'll get abortions too since they'll have access to them.

When I was about sixteen, I got a call from a girl whom I had dated the year before. Half a century later, it's still with me. I remember where I was sitting at the time, which direction I was facing. She told me that she'd had a brief relationship with a guy who hadn't worked out. (I hadn't worked out previously, fair enough too, so I could empathize with her search because I was still searching. It was fun and very worthy but we weren't enough of a fit for each other.) Anyway, the dear girl told me about her pregnancy and her ensuing abortion. "There will be others, at the right time," she said. It was a brave thing to say, and she hardly broke down in tears at all when she said it. It was brave of her. I felt honored that she would trust me with this information, and I hope that my efforts at being supportive helped her feel at least somewhat grounded in the grief she was feeling. I don't remember sensing any sort of guilt from her, and rightly so. Grief, yes, of course. But we were fifteen or sixteen at the time. She's such a hypocrite with her fake Christian facade. I would have 100% supported my kids had they been teen parents but I wouldn't be putting on a fake goody-two-shoes image like she does. I'm as real as it gets - no problem sharing all the stupid things I've done in life to help someone else grow and learn, as well rejoicing in all the blessings I and others around me have in life. She used this announcement as another opportunity to spew her hatred for anyone who doesn't think like her. I hate that.
This is actually very common in present day America. As a young parent myself, I can understand why it's not advisable but it's also not the doom sentence lots of people in this comment section are making it out to be. I also get that liberals typically have kids later in life but I thought you were supposed to be the group more compassionate and understanding of differing life situations. Some of the judgement and blatant classism here is a bit much.
This is so annoying! I remember when I was a teen, a few years ago, everyone was freaking out thinking that we were all harlots and going to have 100 babies when we are teens. They lied to us that teen pregnancy was at an all time high when it was actually at an all time low. Now they actually want teens to get pregnant? Pick a side people!
Nah. They don't really stand for anything so they can't pick a side. They need to know what "libs" think first, so they can tour Oppositeville. Honestly, there needs to be an education and intelligence minimum to become a lawmaker, but that would exclude most of the Republican office holders. If you add an ethical requirement, it would exclude ALL the repubs.

Is this something real people want to be proud of that they have babies out of wedlock at early ages when they have to rely on their parents. I thought this was an evangelistico Christian crowd I guess marriage is out of the question. Every teenager will not have a parent or parents to take up the slack this is what getting left behind looks like.
Well they're certainly staying true to their values.

Yes, Family Values!

Right? She definitely did not!
At this pace by the time she reaches retirement age, she will be the matriarch of three generations of homeschooled Boeberts. God help us all.
😧😧
That’s insane. My mom just became a grandmother four months ago and my mom is in her mid 60s. My brother and his wife had their daughter two months before he turned 36.
Agreed, I didn’t become a grandma till I was 65, and then there were 3 more to follow over the next 3 years between my son and daughter. I am happy to say that both my kids are college grads, my son a law school grad. Only then did they start their families. I’m proud of them and their spouses for waiting until they could give them a good and decent life which they deserve,
64 years old
My grandson is 13 months old. Not advocating waiting necessarily. My daughter and I were both over 30 when we gave birth. Do what works for you and your family!
Being a grandmother at 36 would not have worked for me.
I was 62 when I became a grandma and my daughter was 33 at the time. Both she and her husband got a degree and job they wanted I’m happy to say.
I am sure she is happy about the situation. Yet she would probably condemn families and women of color for the same thing.
Nothing worse than having your 17 year old son knocking up a girl.
And she preaches family values. 👍
Exactly!!! This is why they don't want sex Ed in school and I know Lauren and her husband has not talked about sex with their sons. Those kids futures are done! I love how the right say let kids be kids, but didn't know sex is for kids?

Their education comes to an end.

I didn't have my son until I was 40. I can't imagine being proud of something like being a grandmother at 36. My husband always says that's what is wrong with the world, babies having babies.

In medieval times most babies didn't survive and childbirth was the no1 killer of women. Even if they survived they were doing well to get much past 50 so the imperative to produce children was incomparable to the modern day. We have only recently arrived at the point where childbirth deaths and infant mortality have become (relatively) low across the World but as they have we have seen birth rates reduced everywhere as a result.

It was fun and very worthy but we weren't enough of a fit for each other.)
Anyway, the dear girl told me about her pregnancy and her ensuing abortion.
Now looking back, ready to be a grandparent if events should happen to turn that way, I'm all the more sure that this painful sharing was the very best that we could manage for each other at the time. Let's continue to be kind as we grow older.
@Dan Razzell Good advice. I had no choice with my miscarriages but know how tough it is for a woman, no matter her age, to make that choice.
