"A boy witnesses the death of his entire family to a powerful villain. But just before the mother dies, she sends him back in time with a message that instructs him to find the villain as a young boy and change his life path to prevent the horrible future coming." I am having so much fun doing it. And your videos are really informative. You are going to be the first to see it.

In my story, the main character has recurring nightmares of herself dying. The story starts with one of those nightmares. She doesn't know it at first but they're actually based on real events that she just doesn't remember.
this is similar to mine. My story is like final destination except the victims are teenagers are under Pandoras Curse for reopening the box. They bring ancient curses into the world and the main antagonist is Nemesis who subjects them to constant death as part of his 'game' and they resurrect like a time loop. Only those who touched the box or were present, are under this curse and are seeing various other ones.
My first chapter is only composed of action scenes and foreshadowing, unfortunately, I couldn't put the main problem in the story so it's high risk that readers may not think the story is complicated.
Dont Make the story complicated from jump that's when people will drop it...make it easy to follow then kinda guide them I wanted to do the same with mine then just made it super easy to follow then BOOM

So, this is the first chapter at my book: Charles-Henri is at boarding school. He wakes up in the morning and starts looking for a project he has to hand in. He despertly looks for it, without finding it. He accidentally reveals all the secret letters he hid in his pillow. Naturally, he is brought up to a teacher. He tells a lie about breaking school rules, which he knows would get him in trouble but would be less trouble than if the full truth gets out. The teacher does believe him. Even though it means getting the biggest correction of his life, Charles-Henri feels quite proud of his stun. He goes to class and then it turns out the project was in his bag all along. The class laughs and things are back to normal until recess, which is when Henri needs to receive his punishment. Once he comes back from it (very much sore, sad and bitter), he notices that his comrades had guessed the city's executioner had a close connection with him (through stalking), something the headmaster could no longer lie about. So, the headmaster has to take Charles-Henri aside to learn him he'll have to leave the school soon. Tadaa!

After watching this particular video however, I still had a question on how to start my manga/anime series. I am very happy to say that I saw another one of you videos (16 FREE TO USE Story Ideas And Prompts For Your Shounen Manga/Comic/Novel (Free Book Ideas)) and wanted to use on of the plots. Number six where the main character inherits his great great great grandfathers house and there is another world in the basement. I have everything from character to plot planned out, so if I was to write a story based on that plot, how would I go about starting it? Can manga have prologues like novels do? Should I start it with a character dying in the "other" world? Should I start it with the main characters boring life then have them get thrown into this unknown world? There is so much I do not know how to do with the beginning of the story, but everything else is perfectly fleshed out. If you could help me just a little bit, I would really appreciate it.

Thank you so much for watching my videos, and I am very grateful that you're enjoying them. 😊 I recommend starting the story with something unexpected/surprising or get into the action of the story as fast as possible. I think showing the character dying in the other world is a good way to start, because it opens the story in an interesting way. Also, you can have prologues in manga if you want to, so if you feel that it suits your story to have one, especially if you want to introduce something important at the start, then I think it would work well. Something I like to do with prologues is that I like to reveal something about the story with foreshadowing in the prologue before getting to the main story. For example, you could reveal something dire happening to the characters, or you could show something from the end of the story at the beginning in the prologue. If you are interested, I do have a video about writing the beginning of a manga, but it's a very old video and I do want to make an updated version in the near future! By interconnected universe, do you mean stories that are set across multiple books? (Like comics being focused on different superheroes, but all being part of the same universe) I do hope to create a video on writing a superhero universe, I just want to know specifically what kind of advice you're looking for. 😊 I'm always happy to help. I do also hope to create a video specifically on writing strong female protagonists, and LGBTQ manga.

I would recommend writing out like a vague timeline of events for your series, something to help you keep track of everything that happens. Like depending on what kind of series it is, you might start off with a trigger event that sets the series in motion. Vague birthdates for characters, important events within, prior, or even after the series if you ever try time travel. I'm actually delving into something like this, same universe, but the events are decades, or even centuries apart and build off of each other in one way or another.
I'm thinking about the first chapter of my manga which is a supernatural sci-fi shonen manga. Would having the main character wake up from a nightmare be a start of the chapter?
@@midnightXcross Well the nightmare does have a past experience that relates to her burn markings on her wrists, ankles and back. Not so much foreshadowing, but I'll think about that.

Yes! I think it's a great idea to write a fast paced beginning.
How to develop a Isekai story?
One tip I would say is do not make the MC overpowered from the start and do not make them a Mary/Gary sue
