I love gelatos, I pull them out now and then. Thanks for sharing multiple techniques, great reference video, I'm saving it! I had never heard of priming the paper with gesso, I'll have to try it and do a comparison.
This was great, Laurel. I'd forgotten how much fun Gelatos can be - even forgot I have a box full of them! Now I want to play with them again. I really enjoyed this video.
Thank you Laurel for such a great reminder to get out our older supplies. I have so many gelatos & I haven’t used them in years. I’m not excited to get them out to play with. 🙂
I've been wanting to purchase some gelatos but wasn't sure how much I would use them. Thank you for showing us so many different ways to be creative with this product.
Thank you Laurel that was great. I never think to get my Gelatos out. To be honest with you I think I have too many colouring mediums, I’m overwhelmed when making a project. Does that make sense? X
Laurel your videos are so wonderful…in so many ways. You get right to the point and we learn so much from you. I have had Gelatos forever.. thanks for inspiring me to get them out again
Thank you. I also have had gelatos for more years than I can remember and forget to use them! This is the first video about gelatos I’ve seen using gesso! I will have to give it a try!
I have no Galateos so I was wondering if you could use another products. I love what You did with painting up the stamp. That card is so effective. You give us so many different ways to apply product to cards. Thank You for sharing❤
Thank you SO much for this video! I have had my gelatos for a couple of years cuz I HAD to have them...then never used them. This helped me so much! Love your videos!
Hi Laurel, I’m a new Subscriber, thank you so much for this video. I have Gelatos and just didn’t know how to use them and have fun using them in my projects. I hope you had a wonderful Thanksgiving Day. ✨
Thanxs so much for this much needed reminder. I got a really nice set as a gift. I got the gesso etc.... and had good intentions. Now I need to really get going.
I loved the results with the stencil on black cardstock, and every other result was equally beautiful. The tree!! Thank you Laurel fir a great video❤️🇨🇦❤️.
I’ve never heard of these. This is definitely going into my saved video file for future reference. I have a gift card at Hobby Lobby I need to use, so I will definitely look for these!
I like your suggestion about adding modeling paste to the gelato. I did that on a daily planner where I applied brown gelato/modeling paste through a stencil that gave a wood-like look to the surface.
Thanks for sharing these techniques. I love the one where you colored right on to the stamp! I don’t have gelatos, but I do have oil pastels and neo color 2, would those work the same way?
what a great way of using gelatos, i have them for a long time and they are hardly used, so thanks for the inspiration.Looking at the supplylist, i can't find the stamp, i love those rubber ones .Is there a place were to buy them, lots of clear stamps but rubber is hard to find , i live in the netherlands
I have had some gelatos for a long time and they are put in the bin with my copic markers. I know I should use them and now I will. Thanks for this video. When you put gesso on card stock does that mean you don’t have to use water color paper?
Why does no one else mention spraying with clear Krylon? Because water-based paints can be re-activated, and smear! (Damp hands, etc.) Just a light spray, or it blurs the paint. But, YES!
Thank you Laurel, this is so cool! May I ask you what your sandwich is for using 3D embossing folders in the Cuttlebug? I'm too scared to use mine in case it breaks the machine! :)

Love the black card and the tree were my favorites. The embossed ones were gorgeous also.

Hi Laurel, I've just discovered you. Love these techniques. Thanks for sharing!
I am taking my gelatos out to create some backgrounds. Thank You
I loved the results with the stencil on black cardstock, and every other result was equally beautiful. The tree!! Thank you Laurel fir a great video❤️🇨🇦❤️.
I just love my gelatos. They were put on this earth to me us damn happy 🥰
loved the stencil, very delicate pattern. Thx Laurel have a great day
I need to get my gelatos back out and play with them. I don't think I knew about using the gesso so, thanks for the tip!
Fantastic video. I love watching you. Your channel covers a wide variety of topics.
Thanks for sharing this with us as mine are in a box and now I need to pull them back out and make some beautiful layered look:)
Thanks so much for this informative video! I had these and had no idea how to use them!
So.... is a Gelato like a watercolour crayon? Fun backgrounds!! That's a great stencil you used too!
It is! Its a very pigmented!
Fantastic ideas! Thank you!
Beautiful thanks for the idea ❤
Very cool!

If the modeling paste is used in a DAILY Planner, won't it FLAKE OFF the paper over time??
Amazing video- need to pull out my gelatos and try them this weekend. I will also try with gesso too.
Thanks for sharing these techniques. I love the one where you colored right on to the stamp! I don’t have gelatos, but I do have oil pastels and neo color 2, would those work the same way?
I believe they would yes!
I use Gelatos, never thought of embossing folders. Love all the backgrounds you made
So interesting! Very cool ideas!💕
Thanks, Laurel! I'm inspired to get mine out (they haven't seen the light of day since I bought them when I first started making cards!
Thank you, fell in love with the stencil techniques. The link for the stencil shows a different one. Is the one you used available? Take care.
Thanks so much for this video, I have those gelatos whitch I don't use.
Would this work with the Distress crayons too? I don’t have gelatos
Can I prime white gesso instead of translucent ? Love your cards
Yes I used white gesso in all these :)
what a great way of using gelatos, i have them for a long time and they are hardly used, so thanks for the inspiration.Looking at the supplylist, i can't find the stamp, i love those rubber ones .Is there a place were to buy them, lots of clear stamps but rubber is hard to find , i live in the netherlands
Wow, this is cool
I have had some gelatos for a long time and they are put in the bin with my copic markers. I know I should use them and now I will. Thanks for this video. When you put gesso on card stock does that mean you don’t have to use water color paper?
YES! It you are using 80# or lighter, you might find the paper a bit flimsy.
Great ideas. One question: how do you clean your stamp after smothering it in gelatos?
Ha, I just run the stamp under warm water and it comes right up!
Did you use gesso on the black card stock?
Yep!
What kind of paste do you use? I’ve never used paste. I have gelatos and lots of stencils. Love the outcome!
I use white embossing paste. Or modeling paste even!
@@LaurelBeard thank you. I can’t wait to try this!
Why does no one else mention spraying with clear Krylon? Because water-based paints can be re-activated, and smear! (Damp hands, etc.)
Just a light spray, or it blurs the paint.
But, YES!
when you use gelatos with an embossing folder is the paper prepped with Gesso first, or is it just plain CS?
Prepped with Gesso first!
Thank you Laurel, this is so cool! May I ask you what your sandwich is for using 3D embossing folders in the Cuttlebug? I'm too scared to use mine in case it breaks the machine! :)
Try using one cutting plate instead of two. The only way you’ll break your machine is if you persist in cranking after seeing it’s too tight.
Thank you!
I use just the one thick plate as the base and then one c plate with the embossing folder in the middle.
@@LaurelBeard thank you very much! :)
If you're afraid of fading, you want lightfast pigments. I don't think acid-free has anything to do with it.
It doesn't fade. I use the spray so it stays put and doesn't come off on my fingers and such.
Thank you for these great ideas
