Chris. Hi, greetings from Hong Kong 🇭🇰 SAR. A VERY HAPPY NEW 2025 YEAR to you. It’s great to see you brave enough to venture into another culture to see birds outside the USA. It must be really exciting for you to see so many tropical birds never seen seen in the US. Excellent 👍👍👍👍👍 You know, places like Singapore 🇸🇬, Malaysia 🇲🇾, Hong Kong 🇭🇰 SAR, the Philippines 🇵🇭, and probably Indonesia 🇮🇩, all have a few species of birds that are commonly seen such as the White-breasted Waterhen, different species of Bee-eater birds, various species of Sunbirds, different species of Kingfishers, Tailorbirds, Munias, species of Prinia birds , doves of different colours, …..etc….as these birds are local southeast Asian birds. Happy birding and have a great birding year ! 👍👍👍👍👍👍
Thanks for the nice comment! Have you ever birded Philippines? If not I definitely recommend you go! Have a great 2025 and I’m so glad you enjoyed my video!
Chris. Good evening from Hong Kong 🇭🇰 SAR. I have never been to the Philippines 🇵🇭, but I had been to Singapore 🇸🇬, Japan 🇯🇵, and USA 🇺🇸 . Thanks for your video on Southeast Asia’s birds. 🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏Have a great birding year 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
Wow!! Launched from a rental car in Louisiana! A fun video. Your format change of only street noise for a couple of minutes, was interesting! Thanks for sharing! Happy New Year!!
Greetings from Melbourne in Australia. Congratulations Chris on an amazing 2024! You've done a terrific job locating so many birds in some amazing locations. I've thoroughly enjoyed watching every episode and always look forward to receiving an alert that you've posted a new one. All the best for 2025!
That's really kind of you! Thanks so much, I appreciate your support! This is definitely one of the nicest comments I have ever received. Have you ever seen a Willie-Wagtail?
@@BirdingwithChris You're so welcome. I've just watched your Tokyo video, well done on seeing so many species. Love the Japanese Wagtail! Yes, the Willie-Wagtail is very common where I live. Some people call them 'the birders friend' as they often will follow you along the trail when you're out birding, singing and flying around you. They're really lovely birds!
If you travel down south to my home province in Tacurong city in Mindanao there is a bird sanctuary called Bars bird sanctuary were you can see different kinds of bird. Like Great egret, herons, and so much more.
Mindanao or southern part should be avoided by foreigners,.Tacurong city in sultan kudarat is not safe because there have been many bombings and foreigners are target for kidnapping..
Great video! That's my hometown... and I was raised on the UPLB College of Forestry campus housing (at Makiling Heights). Hence, the whole mountain was my playground. So nice to see those birds again as I have been living in the concrete jungle of SoCal now for over 4 decades. (I plan to retire and go back there at UPLB-CF in 3 years.) And yes, there's a lot more amazing birds to see there... if only you had more time. Did you visit the Natural Museum on campus? Thanks for sharing! Brought back a lot of memories. Cheers!
Wow, living on that mountain sounds amazing. What’s your favorite part about living there? I sadly didn’t visit that museum but next time I really should.
@@BirdingwithChris I loved every part of it: from walking the trails to trail blazing with my bolo (machete) to climbing trees to falling from them to observing flora and fauna to stalking and hunting little game with home-made sling-shots (unfortunately, I didn't know any better then), to climbing all 3 peaks of the mountain, to fishing and frolicking in the creeks... from the 1970s to the mid-80s... and I was all dressed up just in a t-shirt, flip-flops, and short pants. My parents didn't even know I was deep in the jungle then... but they were used to me and all the neighborhood kids to be playing in the forest. My childhood there was a blast! I hope you make it back there another time to capture photos of more flora and fauna... macro and micro. They're all quite fascinating. Keep up the good work. Cheers!
What an incredible life you are having....save the info for your Grandchidren...to show them the incredible life Grandpa has had....and that'll happen before you know it!
@@BirdingwithChris I don't go birding, but I'd love to see birds in the Philippines that I haven't seen yet. Even the Philippine eagle is on my list - I haven't seen it in person. 🙂

Thanks! I currently use the LUMIX FZ 80. You can buy it used for pretty cheap!
Is that a tour guide with you? How can we find a good tour guide to do birding in that area?
Yes this is my friend Niky, one of the best guides from Philippines Birding Adventures. I definitely recommend him!
What spotting scope u use?
In this video I’m using the guides scope. I’m not sure what model but it was really nice!
Sulu hornbill is the rarest hornbill breed in the world.
More endangered than Haribon eagle. Hope you see them but the location is very dangerous.
Ooh! Have you seen one? That sounds so cool
Next time, be with the Philippine eagle down south.
I would love to see that! Have you seen one?
Try some wetlands/marsh species, and if you’re lucky to find a Philippine Duck (Anas luzonica)
