Woodturning - Wood Bouquet Vase

Re-cycling some off cuts pieces of hardwood to wood turn them into a wooden bouquet vase. The species I used in this video was Zebrano, burl/burr, wenge, oak, sapele, purpleheart, pedauk, iroko, ash and American walnut. For resin pigments I chose purple colour and used my chameleon type pigments to achieve cool effect. After casting is was ready to go up on my woodturning lathe to make it round and turn it into a vase 😊

Great job! I have a question for you: When you poured the epoxy, why not put something in the center (like a hollow shape for example) to avoid wasting the wood and the epoxy that in the end you would end up removing anyway? Thank you

This idea made sense to me. But don't know if this could be possible technically. I know nothing about wood carving.

The wood blocks would then have to realign themselves in a more uniform way to fit into a smaller gap. The end result would look completely different and much more “organised”.

Had he put a form in the center the blocks would not have the chaotic look it has. It would have uniform wooden donut rings. Which always works better glued up into different sized rings then stacked to create that vase effect.
This technique offers the blocks to be at different angles and orientations from each other kinda like floating in a grape jello fruit salad.

That turned out great! The purple works so well with the wood, i guess because there's a lot of yellowish tones creating that complimentary colour scheme.
