I've come back to this video because the quality is so good. This an excellent tutorial on how to build a high-quality plastic model ship and get a great looking model out of it. I like Heller kits, I've built several of them, they are fun and render good looking models. Everything about this build says "craftsmanship", I particularly enjoyed the shrouds and ratlines demonstration. Again, Thank You for such a great video...I admit I've copied several of your techniques and they worked for me (and I am not near the modeler).

Wonderful model and very instructive video. This Heller kit of the Royal Louis seems to bring out the best in modeling. Très magnifique et un plaisir de le voir.

Actually, it's not an easy kit for me. but it seemed too exquisite and beautiful to give up in the middle. thank you a lot!

Yes, that really required a lot of patience, concentration, and challenge. despite that, I'm in the middle of building another one now. bigger and more complicated one. it seems kind of addiction. thank you!

Beautiful job here overall including the intricate rigging and the "stitched" sail effect!

Excellent! The time you spent on the ratlines and the sails made the model all the more authentic. I am going to apply those two techniques on my Spanish Galleon. You did good!

Thank friend, though it was not easy for me to build it, the result looks not bad. Take your time to build it, enjoy it, and never give up. you will also have a good result.

Very nice mate. Good job. I ordered this model and a couple more from Heller, they should arrive later this month. I like the brown pre-shading on the sails, the way you set the deadeyes and flags blowing towards the front of the ship. (Not many people know to do that on a square rigged ship.) Movie models and special effects do it wrong a lot. Thank you for sharing.

It was a kind of challenge for me to finish this ship. but it gave me a lot of satisfaction. I hope that you will enjoy the process of building it. Thank you!

Lovely work. I know how much time and effort you have to put in for this type of model. I'm only recently back into modelling and I'm just finishing the Revell 1/110 HMS Bounty. It's not perfect by any means but I'm pleased with it and learned a lot so my next effort should be better. I have in my stash the following - Heller 1/150 Le Glorieux, Heller 1/150 Amerigo Vespucci, Heller 1/200 L'indomptable and two Airfix 1/87 HMS Bounty's. These were a kind gift from a friend. Also from the Airfix Vintage Classics range the 1/130 Cutty Sark and the 1/180 HMS Victory. Not sure which one to tackle next. I will have a bit of a break from the dreaded rigging though and finish off one of my Tamiya tank dioramas and perhaps build one of my aircraft before taking a deep breath and launching, no pun intended, on another ship. Happy modelling my friend.

Wow! Thank you so much for such a long comment. Actually I spent almost 8 months building this ship. I hope to have more opportunity to build more ships like you. Have a good model life!

I also built this model when I was 12 and I'm 66 now. It is still on top of my bookshelf, next to the Vasa model.

Wow! 44 years ago! you must be a big fan of the model ship. I'm curious about Vasa model. is it a plastic model? or a wooden model? anyway, thank you!

@@studionausia9513 The Wasa (Vasa) plastic model is an Airfix product. I bought it in Stockholm, in the Vasamuseet (Vasa Museum) in 2006. Even in my old age, I didn't give up on these pleasures :)

I built this from May 2022 to Jan 2023. but I surmise the pure time was half of that. I deliberately built it slowly, but meticulously and elaborately step by step. The process was so tough that there was no step that just went smoothly. I've thought about giving up many times, but it's amazing that I overcame it at last. thank you!
