Legend, thanks for sharing! I'm still setting up my hardware side but looking to when I do. I'll be pinching some techers from you for sure when I do. Sweet tune too dude! 🤙
Truly less is more, there is something masterful about letting everything breath in a track. I tried listening to some newer DnB tracks and man talk about a claustrophobic mess of sound. As always keep up the great work. 👍
Yes, less is more. Took me forever to understand. New DnB is made for raves and DJs, I assume. It smashes too much, it really feels like my ears are bleeding when trying to listen to that stuff at home. There are also a lot of discussions to be had about music in this genre in general. If you look back in to the 90s, producers like Photek, Dillinja, they were creating new stuff. DnB was forward-looking music. Those same producers most probably laughing from those who still try and make something that sounds as if it was made back in 94. But at the same time, i personally don't like the direction it went. I don't generally like where the world went. But clinging on to the old isn't going to bring anything new to the table either. So... We just stick to what we like, I guess.
Awesome track! 💯 🔥 The vibes remind me so much of suburban base joints I used to listen to back in the day. The insights into how you are using Cubase on your drum cuts is dope.
I like this very much! Great piece of work! And good choice of samples. By the way....i like this Cubase VST 32 thing. Does it run on Win 10 ? Or what operation system do you use ?
Another fantastic video! Thank you for taking the time to make these, I find it fascinating to see how others use their gear. You mentioned that cubase handles midi very well compared to Ableton. I am interested to hear more about this and what you mean as I have had issues with midi response time and Ableton. Nice vibe on the tune too man, love those hot pants edits too!
Hey, thanks ! I don't know how to put to words what I have in mind regarding the MIDI. There are just some minor things that I have noticed, that work differently, but those things make up a part of my sound. For example, when programming drums, I can literally layer the same note twice in the piano roll in Cubase, and when playing back it creates this 90s flangey effect on drums. While doing the same in Ableton or Reason just does nothing at all. And other midi related functionalities are much better in Cubase to me personally.
I love to hear helicopter breaks in tracks (like in The Truper's "3B" or Sentinel's "Awakening", "Dig Deeper" or "Toulepleu") so before I continue to listen the track, I would say it is already a good one. I pretty much like most of your music.
Love your stuff mate!. I believe the desk ads some lovely crust if it's the right desk. I use an og Mackie cr1604. It has those sweet spots on the edge of clipping the channels that does something special. When you resample your breaks do you run through the desk to tape or your pc before recording back into the akai? 👊❤️
Thanks ! Yeah I had the original CR1604, i like the tracks i mixed on it, it did have as you say a great sounding preamps, but at the time i felt like i needed hi pass filter which it didn't't have. Now i think the hi pass filter wasn't as necessary :)

Hardware is fun ;)
Got myself a compressor, making this track to try it out on my breaks. Using it as inserts on my Soundcraft mixing desk.

🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥 amazing as always! I received your Future Retro record (FR035) a few days ago and I'm really enjoying it! :D
Sesame Street/Helicopter break must be my favourite break. So simple and yet a total gold mine!
Also dope track!

Hey, thanks ! I use that break a lot, it fits pretty much anywhere anytime. Originally it comes from Sesame Tree, a children track.
love that electric piano sample where did that come from ?
Hey, can't say, no idea, I quickly sampled it from a video and didn't even take a single note where it's from.
Love your stuff mate!.

Cubase vst 5 came from mac not the Amiga
Hey ! I know lots of producers used Cubase pre PC era, and they come from not Amiga but Atari computers, since 1989 :)
@@IJOSoundVideo back in the day i had cubase 3 on atari mega ste the price of atari st 1040 now shocking price on ebey
I loved Cubase on the Atari 👍
