    I'm driving my 3rd X5. I have always been impressed with the styling of RR, but when reading all the owner reviews it is easy to discover that RR has serious dependability issues. This has never been an issue with BMW.

    How interesting. I learned off road driving in California with the US Off Road team in a Range Rover back in the late 90's as an experience. What a great education it was and what a great experience it was. Land Rovers are impressive off road and for many years I wanted one. At that time they were the safest vehicles to own.

    The X5 is the better SUV. For a fully loaded 2024 X540i, which this is nowhere near, the price does not past $85,000. All X5s also come standard with air suspension on the rear axle, and if you get the X5M60i (V8) you get 4-wheel steering. When you have a top-of-the-line X5M60i, it includes 22" wheels, full 2-axle air-ride suspension, gesture control, soft-close doors, assisted-driving/hands-free highway driving, parking assistant with 360 views, heads-up display, 20-way power-adjustable seats, memory settings for the steering wheel, heads-up display (yes this is memory based), exterior mirrors, and driver and passenger seat, Swarovski glass controls, heated front and rear seats, heated steering wheel, heated arm-rests and center console, 4-zone climate control, ventilated and massaging front seats, full extended-merino leather, panoramic sky-lounge illuminated sunroof, illuminated kidney grille, bowers and Wilkins diamond surround sound system, leather dashboard, tow-package, I mean the list goes on. The V8 M60i also starts, yes, STARTS, at $89,300 and TOPS OUT at $109,280. You also get different driver profiles, remote start, remote parking, remote services with the myBMW app, digital key plus, AND 4-YEAR/50,000 MILES NEW VEHICLE WARRANTY AND 3-YEAR/36,000 MILE MAINTENCE INCLUDED. Honestly, I do not think Range-Rover or any other manufacturer compares to the performance and convenience features that BMWs are equipped with.

    My dad is actually cross-shopping these 2 and the Cayenne so this video was very helpful! We already looked at the iX and might also give the EQS a look as we like the idea of an EV and the EQS seems to be a higher-quality vehicle compared to most of the other new Mercs. How do you personally feel about all these vehicles? I feel like the Range and the Merc are going to be the more luxurious ones while the Beemer and the Porsche are going to be the sportier ones. How would you compare the Cayenne and the Merc to these 2 vehicles?

      I own a 23 RR in Eiger Gray, and have a 23 RRS in Giola Green on order. For someone who has owned several BMWs in the past (but never an X5) and let me tell you that the fullsize RR, and RRS are in a class of their own. I traded my 21 LX570 Sport on my 23 RR and the RR fit and finish is amazing and as good as Lexus. I6 in the RR is also quite potent and I have been averaging 22-23 mpg (actual) in my fullsize RR which is miles ahead of the LX.
      Although I have had limited time in a RRS but looking at them side by side RR looks more cohesive in design and material choices. Also, not very common unlike the X5.

  • @richardh3587
    @richardh3587 Год назад +14

    I have a previous gen RRS and came close to trading it in for a PHEV x5. In the end I just couldn’t pull the trigger - the RRS just felt more special inside, is more comfortable, looks nicer and has better steering and brake feel (surprisingly). As far as the price difference you mentioned, keep in mind that the current RRS comes standard with a bunch of the stuff that is optional on the x5 such as leather, upgraded sound system, adaptive cruise, surround cameras, air suspension, etc . If you add all that to the x5 it adds another 10k or so. Still cheaper than a RRS but the gap is narrower than it first appears
    My biggest gripe with the new Range rovers are the seat controls. The main controls are on the door panel - which is kind of awkward but then you have to use the screen to adjust the lumbar! Crazy. Otoh, atleast they give you knobs for the climate controls whereas bmw now buries that in the screen

      after having 2 X5s previously i jumped into the redesigned RR but ended up trading my RRS for X5 45e (too many issues) and never looked back (uk spec gets air suspension standard and a 50-mile electric range)

    • @steve0ne11
      @steve0ne11 Год назад +1

      All the features that you mentioned as optional on the X5 were equipped in the test vehicle in this video (except real leather). In fact, the RRS lacked climate controls for the rear occupants, shocking on a 100K vehicle. Both cars are excellent. I went with X5 because of the type of driver I am (pretty much floor it at every light). I definitely agree that the RRS looks and feels more special. But the X5 feels so much better dynamically. Which is a must for me.

It needs to have the option of deployable steps and that would cure that problem which is the only problem with it in my opinion. I just drove a new Range Rover Sport and the drive is very serene and don't know when I have been in more comfortable seats. Not really a apples to apples comparison. RR is fully primed and tested for off-road inc deep water ploughing. The suspension/engine are engineerged for off-road. The RR engine is also tuned differently. Not to mention in terms if interior space, RR is actually a "large size SUV" and not a mid size suv like X5. All the RR needs is all-terrain tires and ya can literally drive it thru anything. If u test drive any RR , ya won't go back to any BMW or Mercedes...
    Source: Former X5 diesel owner and currently own '21 RR Sports with 25k miles and zero issues. Yes, maintenance is expensive but ya get real off-road capability in a premium luxury vehicle that's not just meant for soccer moms.

      The RR sport is 4946mm long and 2209mm large and the X5 is 4935mm long and 2218mm large so how do they not compete in the same size category ?

    The interior specifications of this Range Rover are among the worst they could have chosen: black piano & black leather.
    Land Rover offers veneer options with brushed aluminum, wood, carbon fiber, and more than 10 finishes and colors of upholstery including tan, offwhite leather, alcantara and leather. But they optioned boring leather, I mean, black leather. 🤦🏻‍♂️

    Which is more similar in size, power and price........ Almost every RUclips car reviewer does the x5 vs rrsport....

    I have narrowed my next SUV down to these 2 and will purchase in september, however, the 2024 RR Sport is out and should be compared to the 2024 X5, not last years model to this years model of different species. Ben if you could not get the 2024 RR Sport, you should have not done this video just for the sake of views. I stopped watching at 1:20...

    Ive owned both. Both are unreliable cars but RR is worst than the X5 in terms of reliability. However, the RR is more refined, luxurious and drives better. Also better fuel economy. Overall I prefer the RR

  • @MrMoneyLong
    @MrMoneyLong Год назад

    Regardsless of your preference, when you spend thousands of money to buy a luxury car, the least it should have is "reliability" - unfortunately that has been Rover's weakness for a long time, and BMW gives you that. I don't understand why Rover hasn't fixed it, so i would go for BMW.
