I played alongside Ibelin on Steamwheedle Cartel EU in the 2000s, I wasn't his best friend or confidante but we spoke a few times and got on well, I never knew his story. I was Sevestra's (Ibelin's girlfriend) previous guildmaster before she moved to Ibelin's guild, Starlight. She was an impeccable guildmate and officer, and to see her and Ibelin and the world we created, OUR World of Warcraft, put on the big screen was extremely emotional for me. Some of the incredible memories and stories we created together, that wonderful community of guilds and individuals, would be enough to make a whole saga of movies. Ibelin's story was just one of thousands, and I am incredibly proud to have shared that space with Ibelin and so many other incredible people that this movie wasn't able to put on screen. Richeron. Elizabetha. Salabadon. Thepol. Imoenn. Nomine. Lashela. Annarima. Caliyen. Kaijan. Angst. Umbert. So many more that I could fill this comment with them.. The Stormwind Night Watch. The Theramore Task Force. The Dark Embrace. The House of Falconcrest. Starlight. The Peace Keepers. The Northwind Free Company. The Argent Battalion. The Mountaineers. The People's Milita. The Scarlet Mission. Redemptio Coronae. Guilds and guild members in the thousands, all a part of a great project they weren't even aware they were making. In the words of CS Lewis: "We didn't realise we were making memories. We just knew we were having fun." I remember it all. And the first time I saw this trailer, it brought me to genuine tears as the memories came flooding back. So thankyou Mats, for giving this wonderful world - not just World of Warcraft, but OUR World of Warcraft - your life, and making this incredible tribute to our memories possible with your poignant life and passing. - Umbert, Argent Battalion Guildmaster.
To correct you, Mats/Ibelin did most of the play on SWC, Starlight as a whole guild moved to Argent Dawn in the end, but it was very little of the actual playtime in the end. So his character did end on AD, but most play was done on SWC. Source: Well, I am Nomine from Starlight. @@SPRSCRTDINOCLUB
I saw the movie today in a cinema and I left with much more appreciation for life. The movie was a masterpeace and i enjoyed every second of it. RIP Ibelin
Today is the first I have heard about this after gaming wow since 2006. I dont think we will have it in our cinema, but I hope to see the entire story. Also I want to say there are so many stories like this out there with wow. So many stories.
As an old Guild Wars gamer from the past and now father og 2 sons, i wanted to show them how a typical gaming community was like 20 years ago. Little did we know about the rivers of tears that was about to fill our eyes watching this beautiful movie. RIP Ibelin
The first part translated from Norwegian. «Mads was born with a rare muscledesease. As time went on, he became more wheelcheer bound, and therefor also his game- and screentime increased. And that was our great sorrow, that he would never experience friendship, love and that of being important in someone elses life.» (english at the funeral begins)
saw the movie today its a masterpiece and very touching and can really show to the older generations and non gamers how much Gaming matters to people. WoW pretty much saved my life too and im just a few months older than Ibelin Mats steen was.
Haven't had the pleasure of watching the movie yet, but just the trailer has me tearing up. I think it's difficult for those who have never been a part of such an experience to truly comprehend it. Yes it will never truly substitute living in the real world for most, it can be a sanctuary for many of us who have gone through hardships in life. It can give a place where we feel wanted and a sense of community. A place where we belong. A place to learn and grow. A sense of mastery and skill. I genuinely believe I wouldn't be here today if I didn't have these communities online growing up.
I saw the film today in trondhelm kino, it was nice and hard to watch, it was very emotional, I pray for his family coz I know how there feel in so many way, ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
Does anyone have a list of the soundtrack? Particularly the indie-rock song When he chases after the girl who took his hat. (Not «to the mountains» by big bang). Thanks❤

Tenkt deg alle historiene vi aldri får høre som skjer gjennom spillene vi spiller, en endeløs gruve av fortellinger!

This was a My Name is Earl episode years before Mats death. So it was written while he was on his journey. 🥲
