Amorim plays 3 at the back which we don't and Xabi was unlikely to leave Leverkusen after winning the league and building a great squad. On top of that he's new to management. The club knew that and I'm sure Slot was on their radar along with those other 2. Realistically Slot was the only manager that fit our style of play and was available. So by that logic he was our number 1 choice.
