How we went from this to where we are today is beyond me. Saturday mornings were the absolute best, and these kinds of shows were the best part. Seeing ourselves and stories we could relate to was a joy. Such a simpler and better time.
@Quintin Banks yes indeed Tony the motherfuckin tiger there grreatttttttt but remember as a kid your siblings would leave you jus a little milk and you pour the shit it's nothing but a pinch so you add water especially if your mom's was at work and didn't leave milk money cuz it was a full gallon when she left 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣😂😂😂😂
Remember when Saturday mornings were the best part of the week. I swear between 1970 & 2000 almost every celebrity had their own Saturday morning cartoon.
The voice actors who voiced Kid 'n Play in this series are: Jack Angel, Tommy Davidson as Jazzy, Acorn, Alaina Reed-Hall, Chris Hooks as Kid, Brian Stokes Mitchell as Play, J.D. Hall as Pitbull, Mr. Reid, Martin Lawrence as Wiz, Hurbie, Dawnn Lewis as Lela, Rain Pryor as B.B., Umberto Ortiz, Danny Mann as Hairy, Terri Semper, Cree Summer as Marika, Downtown, Dorian Harewood as Old Blue.
I really want to thank you for uploading this! Remember the cartoon with Michael Jordan, Wayne Gretzky, and Bo Jackson? Those were the days, we grew up in a special time for sure!
Akin to the House Party films, Play was the less responsible member of the duo, cooking up rich quick schemes, while Kid, the more responsible member, would usually be made to clean up messes. Oftentimes the issue would be resolved by the characters’ girlfriends, or sometimes by a elderly jazz musician named “Old Blue” who wore a blue beret and plays a saxophone. The lessons ranged from serious to lighter fare. It’s like the 90s version of Fat Albert and the Cosby Kids.

Subscribed, because i love what you do, your sense of relatable urban sentimentality and your content ...not because of THIS, and that's only because i was 18 in '91, done with cartoons, and did NOT care for Kid, Play or Hammer (though Kid actually had some fresh rhymes after the criticism got to him). In the so-called golden era, for folks who always tout it's magnificence, Rakim, Kane, Kool G Rap, KRS, ATCQ - were the agreed upon "respected emcees". An ULTRA commercialized form of what we called the hip-hop art-form rose up, gained the masses' attention and a BIG corporate push from mainstream media (and radio), and in doing so, sucked the life out of the emerging entity that the "respectable" examples of this "art" had worked so hard to formulate. Hammer and Kid N Play was who your Grandmother and little sister liked - marketable, non-threatening (though Hammer kept his "g " behind closed doors so he could get to the mun-nay)...not very "lyrical", "street" or "political", all of which were essential principals of said "golden era". That said, it cracked my head to be reminded of this time when corporate America was FORCED to acknowledge us, and a form of expression that used to tell our untold stories, and pay up, even if they did so only as overplay to the underlay and a way to take the steam out of the movements that could have formed had the "era" continued in the direction P.E., X-Clan, Paris and others were taking it, and with it's intensity, seriousness and momentum in tact. The will Smiths and others could have had their place, true, and all the music did not have to be "so serious" (i suppose,) but the fact that the commercial (a.k.a. marketable) "Kenny-G" version of it effectually "phased-out" the "Coltrane" side of things seemed to set up the atmosphere for what passes today as rap music....just one way of looking at it.
