Oh boy, it isn't. In tier 8, yes they can't penetrate you, but becuase in tier 10 every gay uses gold ammo, you are paper. Especially for the HEAT rounds with 340mm pen. So yeah, sadly it is a shit tank if the enemy loads the gold (and they will)
If you remove the buttom 2 aka gold, then yes it is. But sadly now a day like almost everyone will spam gold into your face if they see a Maus. Even in a T8 medium tank if I just use gold and you in your mause look straight at me, I can easily pen you in the face
dont know whats with these people saying maus is useless against tier 10s spamming prem, maus is 350mm+ all over against heat when angling turret and hull correctly. the period of time where enemies have to sit and aim at turret cheeks or lower plate is a huge advantage when you can just snap shot auto-aim APCR without even having to stop moving hull and turret.

It's been over five years since I stopped playing WoT, but the dull sound of rounds bouncing off your armor is still one of the most satisfying noises in a videogame that I can think of. Instant dopamine.
These games actually happen when playing the Maus. However they are RARE and need to involve tier 8 tanks. But players in tier 10 tanks who know how to fight the Maus just laugh at it. Angeling your turret, doesn't work against 330+ pen heat shells reliably and if you shoot at the gun mantlet from the side (when the turret is angeled) it actually only has ~260mm of spaced armor, with 0 armor behind it. Most players with bigger guns will also just wait till you turn your gun towards them to shoot them and hit your cheeks.
I had the tank for around 30 battles, managed to get at most 25% win rate, sold it. I'm not so good at this game but Maus was the worst experience that I could have.
@@alexpercival7768 Depends highly on your luck concerning enemy players. If you play it at the time of day where the most higher ranked tier 10 players are online, then you're toast. Decent players will learn to wait for you to turn to shoot, then eat you alive.

as a unicum heavy player I also suggest you go for Maus, unfortunately the golden times where I could play Type 5 even in ranked battles are gone. They destroyed its derp gun which was balanced compared to the absurd tanks we have today.

Although WoT has gone to shit and I haven’t touched it in a long time, the golden era of WoT holds a special place in my heart. It was fun to grind and the community was pretty great. One of my top favorite games of the 2010s.

That tank is a beast at tier 8. If you get matched against tier 8s and 9s with your maus, they can still probably pen you with gold, but if you get mached agains tier 6s and 7s with your VK100.01, they most likely won't be able to do shit to you, even with gold.
Damn you said Tier 8 VK and I was like "wow 8k with the 45.02A? Wild!" and then I remembered that nobody means that tank anymore. I miss mine, playing it is still my favorite time I had ever had while playing the game, but I know in today's WOT it would get absolutely slaughtered.
@@JimoftheSlim Yeah it only excels when top tier and if there are no 'modern' tier 8 heavies in the enemy team. Otherwise, it's arguably worse ever since WG made the frontal armor be typical german tank instead of having a thicc lower LFP and a relatively weak UFP.
I always enjoyed taking the Maus out. Her glorious German box shape makes her easy to angle and it's oh so satisfying to watch people empty their wallets at her. Because I could take my time and aim for weak spots I was able to run a mostly standard ammo loadout and would somehow profit more often than not.
This is why the Maus will always be my favorite tank. It really isn't that good, but it is hilarious fun watching people struggle even with their premium rounds.
I hate this mission so much. Once you get bad enough enemies you literally have to miss your shots on purpose to make them peek and bounce you and have to be careful not to kill them too quickly
I played mauscien it's like free damage for everyone. Pure enjoyment to play against tier X full gold every single game. And ofc nice MM gave me 36% win out of 25 games as soon as I got the top gun (free xp), blueprint fast tracked to maus.

I hate this mission so much. Once you get bad enough enemies you literally have to miss your shots on purpose to make them peek and bounce you and have to be careful not to kill them too quickly
