I am in the U.S, in Texas. I just started riding since my accident in '07. I picked up the CLX 700 Heritage and I love this bike. Very easy ride and can move down the highway when I need it to. It has been a great ride so far!

@@landonfolken03 at 7k miles I have the only 1 real concern that just started. It doesn't affect the performance of the bike but only the gear indicator. There is a reverse gear sensor. I can be cruising in 6th gear and at 70mph or over the indicator will flash saying I am 1st gear. The bike is mechanically still in 6th gear. I have two more months of warranty so I will be getting this corrected. If the warranty fix doesn't truly fix the issue I know of another way to fix the problem. Remove sensor and wire harness which is by the front sprocket and take off the washer and put it back together without the washer. But from what I hear, the new sensor corrects the problem. Other than this, it is a fun bike to ride. Catches a lot of eyes. I drive from Seguin into San Antonio and also 30 miles north of Austin often and the performance is great. Easy to lean with the weight and feel of a sport bike and can chill like a cruiser if desired.

Looks a lot like the Ducati Scrambler, only cheaper. My wife loves this bike because the ECO mode made it completely harmless when she was learning to ride for the first time. Now she hits SPORTS mode when riding to work and touring with me. Her only gripe is the small fuel tank and the fuel gauge which she couldn't trust (she relies on the tripmeter instead, which she zeroes every time she fills up). The engine goes wild past 6000rpm.

That model is a Kawasaki clone. However the 700 CL-X is a different engine. It's made by CFMOTO/KTM and the new CFMOTO 800 is the LC8 engine same as the KTM 790. Design by Kiska a well known company. The CL-X 700 I have is set up for scrambling and I take it off highway often. I love it!

Hi Kate enjoyed the review, I'm certainly with you about the adventure, not being a true adventure bike and is more suited to the scrambler name. No bash plate, and not much ground clearance would limit you, and if you could retro fit a plate it would bite into the limited clearance, but for the price of todays machines I suppose not bad value even if the engine is old tech. Thank you.

In the meantime I briefly tested the 450MT last week (I live in China) along with the cruiser and the naked; I loved the fit of the naked but it’s really snatchy initially, I’m not a cruiser fan so it looks like the MT might be the move - until I try these 7’s. Not sure if they’ll fit me but I’ll give it a go, I’m only 5’5” so it’ll be interesting.

Great vid Kate! I have watched a dozen reviews today on the cl-x 700. The one thing that all of them leave out is the fact that cfmoto has a downloadable app that connects to the bike via Bluetooth. Which, provides a real time anti-theft detector. If the bike is touched or moves without you on it, it will send a notification through your phone and track the movement of the bike through satalite gps. You will arrive in time to see cops cuffing thieves and ride your bike back home. This comes STANDARD, on cfmoto bikes at the same low msrp. How much would you pay for this one feature. Why don’t all bike makers adopt this? Hummmm?

I've already got an SCR950 and a 390 Duke, though. Does the Adventure have some kind of luggage rails fitted? There's something on the side at the rear. Because you can drive on the mountain roads / forest roads.

I beg to differ sir!!! I'm a young geezer at 57 and having ridden everything from a '71 Vespa through a 68 rigid Norton with a girder front end, and had to give up the 700lb Harleys due to hip problems. I bought the 2022 CFMOTO 700 CL-X Heritage in October 2022 and have put 7,366 miles on it since without looking back!
This machine's 77HP are far too many for a first bike at ANY AGE. I used to find it boring or a nuisance to get on the Thruway and have to wiggle around or get blown around by trucks or, if you prefer, lorries, but with the advent of new technology, being able to set the Cruise Control at 80mph and easily blow past them when the power band kicks in at 6,500rpms, you'll soon run out of straight road or traffic free space long before this hits its top speed. I've run out of blacktop and there are no tracks with long enough straightaways to get past the 102mph I've made on several attempts. And switching from Eco to Sport mode you'll be more than pleasantly surprised how much fun it is on those twisty back country 45mph roads.
Kate did a great job with the review but I'll restate that this "Chinese bike" has licensed this 650cc motor from Kawasaki, punched it to 699cc with a retune. CFMOTO also partnered with Austrian KTM in 2013 and are currently making the engines for several of KTM's bikes. The CL-X has Japanese KYB suspension, German Bosch Fuel Injection, German Continental dual channel ABS, Italian Pirelli tires. The Heritage comes stock with Spanish JJuan brakes, and the Sport model has the Italian Brembo 4 piston dual rotors brakes that several reviewers admitted was too much and unnecessary for a bike of this power. And, Brembo acquired JJuan in November 2021 I guess because why not partner with or buy out your closest competitor!? Throw in a 6speed with a slipper clutch for less than $7000 and you'd be foolish to buy a use Japanese bike that doesn't come with a warranty that stretches from 2 years in the US, 3 in most European markets and all the way out to FIVE YEARS in Canada!
      I'd politely suggest that you...
DO NOT BUY THIS BIKE if you hate self canceling turn signals
DO NOT BUY THIS BIKE if you hate gauge clusters that automatically light up if you're in a tunnel or riding under thick trees, AND gets brighter as the sun goes down
DO NOT BUY THIS BIKE if you hate riding hands free or resting your throttle hand with cruise control that works from 4th gear from 24mph for small town roads and their speed bumps all the way up to 80mph on the highway
DO NOT BUY THIS BIKE if you hate Pirelli tires that handle great in the rain at highway speeds above 70mph, at your own risk, of course!!
DO NOT BUY THIS BIKE if you hate getting better than 40mpg when non-ethanol premium is still $4.50 a gallon!
DO NOT BUY THIS BIKE if you hate fully adjustable front and rear suspension systems
DO NOT BUY THIS BIKE if you like having your inverted forks covered in dead bugs, slime, and dirt that will corrode and chew up your fork seals because this bike has shields over the exposed front suspension.
DO NOT BUY THIS BIKE if you hate watercooled, fuel injected, dual ABS, six speed bikes that come with a 2 year unlimited mileage warranty
And absolutely definitely DO NOT BUY THIS BIKE if you like skidding out of control downshifting from 6th to 3rd in an emergency or race. The slipper clutch won't let you.
And here's a few reviews from outlets you may have heard of
