Back and forth in time comparing the two. It really depends on having each filter setting tuned to max performance for each and every setting on each radio. That said if you listen to both then I’d actually say: they are similar. Speakers too play a part. Considering you are listening to station around the world on both then I’d say either is great. TBH I never regretted buying my R-75. Only an antenna can truly improve the setup noticeably or to have a better receiving location. Dreams for someone who rents! Someday maybe a long wire out in the country can become a reality.
Hi Pedro, on your comparison the R75 is on LSB with preamp1, the 7300 is on USB and partially on AM....I have a fully loaded R75 and probably the best HF receiver I own besides a NRD535D, a Fairhaven RD500 and a Lowe Hf-150 with PR-150. Congrats on having a R75 ! Regards, Bjern NL6001
The 7300 is a SDR radio so its not the same as the R75 try on both with same mode and same filter u antenna wellbrook are not spec. for the 15Mhz its more for the MW band Gr. from a man of more than 50 years experience 73,
I cant wait to get into this game and catch sounds like these from the ether. btw, whats your favorite ICOM? im leaning towards the 75 because of the design and actually of the overall sound. but its just my noob imprression. anyhoo, thanks for another great one!
I've been looking at eham reviews and there are some very negative ones on there which really surprises me. thought this was a top notch receiver certainly for MW ? is the Sync detector built in as standard or an extra add on ?
@@OxfordShortwaveLog yes sure is. Just recently got one from ebay but the dc power socket was loose and after a few days no connection at all so in the hands of icom atm. Only 1 engineer this week apparently. Seller was adamant it was in perfect working order. NOT !
Hi, i am using icom r75..But now I want some change.I'm thinking of buying a 7300.i am not a radio amateur.i am a swl.i have wellbrook and megaloop fx.What should I pay attention to so that the icom 7300 does not damage my Rx antennas?(like this; The microphone will not be plugged in,internal tuner will be off.)thanks..
I'm not sure buying a IC-7300 as a receiver is a great idea, considering the money it will cost. I don't think it will be more sensitive than the IC-R75. You would have to ensure you never plug in the mic and don't hit the auto match!
No contest the 7300 much better. It is always said one shouldn't use a transceiver for general listening. This proves there is no truth whatever in that statement.Very nice signal from Korea.I do fancy a 7300 but can i justify another radio i ask myself?👍🤗🐻

Icom 71e very nice👍🤗🐻
I don't really have a favourite - but I do love the R75....just a great radio that's easy to operate. 73s, Clint

It's usually the audio BW filtering that people complain about - AM is either too wide or narrow - but use it on SSB with PB and it's amazing.

comparing to your Elad as a benchmark at the end would have been interesting
Good idea.
Actually I think the R75 holds it's own pretty well here! 73...phil
Hi there Phil, I hope you're well. Thanks and yes, it's definitely a super result on the R75! 73s, Clint
I think I lean slightly toward the 7300. Just my opinion.
Thanks David - that's the majority position lol! 73s

Hi there, thanks. There's always an excuse for abother radio lol. 73s
JRC lowe icom.... WOW.
Lol thanks my friend! 73s
I have an R-75 is it worth the money to purchase the IC- 7300 is the gain in what little performance worth it?
In short Rick, no not at all. The R75 in SSB mode is simply superb and the 7300 no different really - except the spectrum scope/waterfall. 73
@@OxfordShortwaveLog Thank you, "73".
7300 wins.
Thanks Justin. 73s
