- Rooster Teeth will permanently shut its doors. Warner Bros Discovery is selling off RT's intellectual properties. This is a developing story and we need to see how it shakes out. Please be respectful in the comments.
I will talk in a future video about my personal feelings about this. The purpose of this video was to get the news out in a way where people would understand that there is a lot we still do not know and to keep an eye out for further news.

Further news that's come out since posting this video:
According to Community Manager Chelsea Atkinson, the shutdown is not completely immediate, and RvB's final season, RWBY Volume 9 Beyond, and Camp Camp will all still air. I also made a second video about it.

KO what about Death Battle?? What’s going to happen to that show?
I wonder would DC comics buy RWBY
I'm not 100 percent sure. I believe any currently-planned episodes will likely get made as this shutdown is not an immediate one. It is more like a clock that is running out. I don't know how much time it has, but if you click the link to the Deadline article in the description, that's what it sounds like. But beyond the immediate future, it seems very uncertain. I'll be tuned for any info about it in the upcoming livestream and include it in the next video.
Okay, this is just straight up poetic to have this happen. Red vs Blue was RT's origin and now its final season turns out to surprisingly be one of if not the last thing they get to put out there.
It starts and ends with the Reds and Blues. Maybe even in a box canyon with that same topic. Would be really cool to have it come full circle on that many levels.
It's pretty sad But I don't know RWBY 10 is gonna come out or be cancelled. But let's hope the studio who buy up RWBY could do a better job or could revive the franchise.
is RWBY is dead
RWBY deserves to have a Proper Conclusion though people just really want it to stay Unfinished and never Continue,I hope that another Company will pick up the IP and treat it with Care.
Thank you glad to see am not the only one who want to see Rwby at least have a proper ending yes the series had its problems but I really enjoyed vol 9
RWBY is technically the most popular show Rooster Teeth made! Of course Another company will eventually pick it up! It just feels like it won’t because this News was just announced a few hours ago!
So it is similar to clone wars then. When one company only completed the majority half of the series, it is left in the dust until years later we get a revival for one last season on a Disney platform.
As much as I think RWBY post volume 3 hasn’t been very good. The least they could do to honor Monty is to finish it, good or bad finish the series.
Agreed
It truly sucks that RT is gone, i really hope that a good company picks up RWBY and RedvsBlue so the series can continue. I really dont wont RWBY to end on the cliffhanger it did
You mean Ice Queendom?
Same
@@linked2dio26being rebooted would be the worst thing. The majority of fans wouldn't support a decision, at least not until the current story is resolved.
@@linked2dio26 I’d be okay with a reboot AFTER the current series ends, but not a moment before. I’d be afraid of the changes they would make with a reboot/remake. Not because they might be bad, I trust the writers (despite what other people say about RWBY’s writing), but because they could change something I personally liked.
@@linked2dio26 Ice Queendom was a abridged version of Vol 1, with new semi canon content for most of it. And that doesn't sound like a good marketing strategy, to discard the fans that kept the show going in favor of those who abandoned it.
I think RWBY in its original form should be presumed dead until explicitly stated otherwise. There is no guarantee that any company purchasing the IP would maintain production continuity and might just put its own staff on it. Assuming they try to continue the story and don't just do a reboot, or license the show out for games or whatever.
If someone does buy it, RWBY needs a heavy reboot. Restore its original villains and have the care RWBY deserves. Cuz the trauma is too deep.
RT is dead but RWBY not dead.
It's pretty sad but I don't know RWBY volume 10 is gonna come out or be cancelled. But let's hope the studio who buy up RWBY could do a better job or could revive the franchise. I thank Crunchyroll get the IP
While this marks the end of an era, RWBY’s impact and fanbase will undoubtedly endure. Let’s cherish the memories and celebrate the creativity that this remarkable series brought to our screens.
While some franchises face cancellation, others find unexpected revivals:
RWBY, the animated web series, recently suffered a setback when Warner Bros. Discovery decided to close Rooster Teeth, the production company behind it. Approximately 150 employees were affected, but discussions are ongoing about selling rights to certain Rooster Teeth content3.
As fans, we can cherish the memories of beloved franchises and hope for surprising comebacks in the future! Remember, the world of entertainment is full of twists and turns, and sometimes even canceled stories find a way to rise again
I think the other companies will take the IPS for streaming services such as Crunchyroll Or other Rival Studios. It's pretty much similar to when Marvel was bankrupt And sell off all the movie rights to other studios to keep them in float.
My notifications have been exploding with the news. This video was definitely the clearest and most professional report out there. Thank you for covering this.
Thank you. I appreciate it!
Today has felt like one long funeral for RT tbh
I'm just so scared if RWBY does (which is a big possibility) get sold to a different company. I still to this day love RWBY despite the negative stuff. I do believe the series deserves a great, proper send off if anything
@@AlphaOmegon i want to agree but anything can happen, history has shown us this. If anything I do really want volume 10 to be the final one as was they said
@@sinfulbakaa
There are too many remaining arcs for one volume if the remaining arcs are to be wrapped up quickly they should be made into movies.
@@davidlafoy9247 another possiblity but not sure what any other company if they did get this IP would want to do that. I can't say for sure but this still scares me a lot that this IP has a huge chance of getting sold and we're still waiting on Volume 10 which was said to be an end of an era if anything
same i hope it get finished
Wait, wait, wait...HOLD UP.
So the last thing they did for RWBY fandom before shutting down was crossover with justice league....not the best ending that I`ve expected.
I learned about this from Casey’s retweet of Variety’s post. I felt my heart sink.
I love RWBY to death, but if it gets acquired by another company, if the cast, writers, and Casey and Martin aren’t gonna be part of it, I probably won’t watch it.
Either Glitch Productions or Crunchyroll?
A company will pick it up! And, sure, I’m not sure Casey will say yes to doing vocal, but whatever company picks it up will try!
@@joshuaball5916 I'm sorry. But I CANNOT see GLITCH taking RWBY of all shows XD. It is not cause I hate GLITCH Productions, it's just I can't see RWBY with the humor of GLITCH/SMG4 in it, I just can't lmao! 😂
@@Jony.1285 i wouldn't care less in the world if my favorite indie studios pick up RWBY, but if they did it would be mind blowing for me!

Hearing this news was hard to watch. While we knew this was going to happen eventually, it's still sad. Thank you, Rooster Teeth, and I hope that someone else will be able to keep RWBY afloat.
RWBY is to fan fiction as Skyrim is to modding
While an official final would be awesome
@@An_Ian Yep. Fan content will be long bustling even if the show unfortunately gets cancelled. I still would love to get a proper conclusion.
I do hope the people who've been laid off find new jobs with hopefully better working conditions than what RT was willing to offer.
I've always admired your absolute clarity and level-headed research you conduct for your videos; these are scary times for sure, but it's people like you that'll make this wait for information all the easier to bear
Thank you for continuing to be one of the most passionate and reliable voices in the community ♥
That means a lot. Thank you. There's a lot more I'd like to say about this situation from a more personal perspective in the future. This video was rather difficult to make as is, so I didn't want to open that can of worms yet. It was most important to stress what is not known yet to hopefully dispel any potential rumors.
End of an era but it’s not surprising the writing been on the wall for a long time now
I feel like if there are selling the IP I hope that Amazon or Netflix should get them and not Disney
Christ, don't even joke about Disney buying it, Rooster Teeth may have mismanaged the IP but they were still miles better than Disney

The show must continue
Also, I hope Death Battle survives too
Rwby must end ! It’s heterophobic
It really doesn't have to. It's not like we're losing anything if it doesn't.
@@jonnjones8263 how do you mean there?
oof ya that tweat kinda confirms it then. Even death battle is a casualty here.
This is a sadden news as rwby, rwby chibi, camp camp, and death battle are homeless now as it concerning for fans like me as i hope there a new company that can help fix and polish the show, make it likable band enjoy, i wish that rwby would be cared for as it need to be rebooted or continue the series and finish it on a nice high notes.
I only know Rooster Teeth from Red vs. Blue but I’ll miss them.
Allow me to make this clear. Rooster Teeth lived on fan support and the good will of its audience. When they lost the audience good will, they thought that the corporations would keep them afloat. But without the fans to make them profitable they were just a prisoner in a rimworld game. Nothing but bits to be harvested before the husk is tossed aside. I feel sincere mourning for their company and the fall of one of the original titans of the fandom. And it is over now.
@@yawningpheonix
I mean, I took what used to be a RWBY fanfic made to carry the messaging and theming that Monty had been setting up(namely cool ass fights with awesome weapons and an undercurrent of the tragic scars and sacrifices behind the heroes and fairy tales we grow up on, revealing the messy truths behind the history we are told) and reworked it entirely to fit into an existing part of my own original setting. So when I eventually get to writing that, there will be glory.
Robin thanks for sharing the news hearing rooster teeth disbandment makes me feel completely upset but I decided to accept it to move on. Anyway, pls stay updated on some upcoming updates
Very insightful video with straightforward talks
Well done
Please let a company pick up Camp Camp and keep up its goo quality

What’s going to happen to the “RWBY Volume 9 Beyond” series launching this March 30?😥
Fingers crossed someone like Amazon picks up RVB & RWBY!
Or Crunchyroll
@@kidprime6863 maybe…? But it would make me wonder what would happen to things like the soundtrack, or the writers. Not just wears this going to stream, but who's going to fund it now.
Is anyone else concerned about what will happen to all the RWBY reaction videos if it gets sold. I don't want another Gen:lock purge happening.
in terms that shows like RWBY and so on do get sold off to a different IP, do you think these shows could be produce by other channel stations like Adult swim similar to My Adventures With Superman and how that show was saved. and if it does lead to this, could some change to rwby be good, after all volume 9 ending kind of leaves the story open, i just hope they dont change it so much like they did when Gen:lock did the same thing and changed tones
I know this is an end but I don't think it'll be the end, at least not yet
I'm presently worried about DogBark. Did that shut down mere months after it was created? Are the four last Achievers out of work?
Yes. Everyone at RT has 60 days left to finish up what they can do, unfortunately. I'm sure a handful of them will find their own ways to continue things if possible, but it'll manifest in a different form most likely.
Would it be Warner Brothers or the Rooster Teeth management that we can blame for apparently telling none of the employees, and then come to find out the same way as the rest of the public.
Rooster teeth. Management had been on a steady decline for awhile, but recently it sounded like they were really bad.
Truly RT is the Project Freelancer in the WB UNSC
Is it reasonable to unsubscribe to RT for firing those who actually have passion towards RWBY or is there a slither of hope that we can all cling onto?
I'm wondering what will happen to outlets that have RWBY Vols.1 through 9 in their library such as Crunchyroll. Whatever the arrangements were, those agreements will most likely be nullified.
Is Death battle gonna end as well ?
i sure hope not.
Don't worry RWBY, you will live on in our hearts as well as our briefs. Now back to R34!!!
I'm gonna miss you rooster teeth, but I hope youre anime series, such as RWBY and Red vs Blue my most favorites, can keep moving forward.
People said the same thing about Young Justice.
And the fans prevailed.
The only thing worse than a bad ending is no ending, so keep fighting for the show.
No sometimes no ending is good. I mean just look at the Sly Cooper franchise.
@@jonnjones8263 not the same. That series 'ended', the story has a definitive conclusion, but they tried and failed to continue it, and now it has no ending and it needs one.
RWBY's original story hasn't been resolved.
@@colvamoon6962 And the writers are to blame for RWBY not having an ending, there was no need for some dumb Alice in Wonderland knock off crap.
Maybe if they worried more about the story and less about a lesbian ship, dumb side plots and failed attempts at being "Deep"
Buddy, RT had said they were always going to do the Ever After volume, just that they didn't know WHEN they were going to do it. Besides, that volume provided what would've been the key to surviving the Brothers when they returned.
Goodbye Rooster Teeth If Only They never made a deal with Wonder Brothers.

It's the end of an era for RWBY.
But hey, since RvB has a huge connection with Halo and Halo has found its success as a show on Paramount+ (along with Microsoft having such a co-dependent relationship with RT for so long.), how many of you are willing to bet that Paramount Global will buy RT's animated catalog (including RvB and RWBY)?
Anyone know what that song in the background is ??
"Mirror Mirror (Ice Queen Remix)" by Alex Abraham, a.k.a. the version of Mirror Mirror that was made for RWBY Chibi.

Selling Gen:Lock is an interesting idea. I haven't seen it, but I know it was canceled after season 2, and I know it was Gray Haddock's baby, so I really hope he can finish his story there. And I might check it out at some point.
But my main draw to RT is and always has been RWBY, so I just really hope that whoever buys it is able to do it justice. Or at the very least that they will keep on all the essential cast and crew members, in addition to potentially adding people more experienced with the production of animated shows, and new writing talent.
Gen lock season 2 really went down hill witch was a shame because I really like the first season and it was such an interesting idea and world
wait, genlock has s2?
Ya it premier exclusively on max
I liked season 1, but season 2 was the worst piece of media I have ever consumed. if they bring it back the only way to salvage it would be redoing season 2 with a different story
Wow it actually happened, hope everyone that worked in Rooster Teeth get jobs that actually treat them fairly
this sadness me as i watched rwby since vol 3 i hope someone takes it up and doesn't make it girls never do wrong i wish do see its conclusion or just a message how it was going do end
I think Amazon will buy RWBY. They buyed Pantheon and finished season 2 and I bet only a small amount of people heard of this show. And don't forget Hazbin hotel.
I hope that CRWBY gets to stay with RWBY till the end
How the hell could such a big name just fuck everything up and end up dead is just wow

This is heartbreaking. I've been looking for more information on this all day but it's turned into a waiting game until tomorrow. I'm deeply saddened by this news.
I imagine if someone does buy the rwby rights just do some kind of reboot instead of continuing it like rwby icequeendom for example
Everyonr crying over RWBY needing a final season, and im just sitting here waiting for Day 5 season 3
I loved watching RWBY and especially the RWBY chibi series, so this is a sad day indeed. I feel really for all the talented people at Rooster Teeth that lost their jobs and I wish all of them good luck.
Im upset about this development. It is very sad about Rooster Teeth shutting down.. But i partially blame those people who HATED on Rooster Teeth for continuing RWBY. Ive seen so much hate spewed at Rooster Teeth for their continuation of the series. And i fear it might have been one of the leading factors into Rooster Teeth's Shutting down. Having so many voices against the company.. Even across all the places ive seen the story be shared, i see nothing but comments about how shitty of a company Rooster Teeth was. And even my own family have made comments against Rooster Teeth, blaming them for being ambitious enough to grow as a company rather than staying as a funny little youtube group.
Despite this, I wish no hate for anyone other than Warner Bros for giving up on Rooster Teeth. And i truely hope the best for those people who worked with Rooster Teeth in finding their feet again.
The outcry was their own doing. You can see the mismanagement and decline year after year up to this point.
this nes made me sad, i hope someone comes and pick up rwby and gives this series chance to continuation, rwby lost both monty oum and now rooster teeth,

RvB Restoration, RWBY Volume 9 Beyond, and Camp Camp will all still air as intended. Here's a blog post link confirming that. roosterteeth.com/g/post/f73f73d1-130c-42ca-9589-e2158b041477
Well it was expected to happen, ever since GenLock I saw RT going downhill and falling apart. RWBY and red vs blue was the reason why this didn't happened earlier but this is the result of bad business decisions and somewhat shady things within that company.
Though, I'm sad about the death of Rooster Teeth, the ultimate question now is who's gonna get the rights of RWBY, Red vs Blue, and Gen:Lock? I Hope to God, it's Glitch.
I wonder how this affects that news from a few weeks ago.
More seriously though, I send my condolences to CRWBY and everyone who is personally invested in this story. May they find good work to sustain them.
I hope RWBY continues--not at the cost of its 'identity', whatever that subjectively is--but if this is really the end, I don't think there was a better point in the story for it. V9 and the epilogue gave us a fairly strong sense of where the story is likely to go, they ended on a very hopeful and positive note let alone were not cliffhangers (like Vs 7 or 8), and the biggest burning question is how Summer died. The novels showed us Vacuo too, so we know all the Kingdoms from the inside.
At the very least, fanfiction writers will "carry the torch", and everything I outlined above is basically a giftwrapped starter kit.
I am grateful I got to experience this, and grateful that you provided a space for part of it (I only found your channel in the last year).
RT is dead but RWBY not dead.

This is probably just a pipe dream, but I wish/hope that somewhere in the east can acquire the IP (If WB sells it) to keep it alive. I was so taken aback when I read this.
When did the west ever sold any IP to the east?
@@UnrealNeoBat That's true, but let me have my fault hope. 😢
@BlastHeart96 It feels like you're implying that the West can't write.
I don't think they're implying the west can't write y'all. My thought was it could be sold to a Japanese studio, but's simply based on RWBY: Ice Queendom being a thing. That's the only reason.

I can see some wealthy fan buying it and then prompty restarting RWBY. Alot of the fandom dislikes *quite strongly) post season 4 as it kinda lost it's glow. I mean they bowed to the fandom on ships making a few characters inert. Sun was obviously meant to be Blakes romance for instance.
I just hope whoever gets RWBY and the other animated series that they keep the same writers and not just do a Gen:Lock and get rid of anything to do with the original team
Well, until then, at least fan fiction and fan projects aren't going anywhere...
They should sell RWBY with the condition that they take main CRWBY with it.

I firmly believe considering RWBY’S popularity. I firmly think it will go through an eventual reboot
Hope not
What popularity? If it had a big enough fanbase, the company never would have died now would it? Lmao.
I love rwby but it’s genuinely a bad show written by hacks. It’s popular in the RT fanbase and that’s it. Anime fans don’t give it a look, normal people don’t. It’s too niche.
Could it be picked up.. yeah.. I think the studio behind Ice Queendom could do amazing with it. They already showed that they can write RWBY better than the actual original show runners.

The past 6 months have been nothing but bad news for RT. Every video I saw on them was negative, tlaking about how the company keeps taking bad turns. I remember saying that RT will shut down sometime this year due to lack of funds, but my guess was late this year.
Honestly they’ve been on a slow decline since after Monty passed away. They did some good stuff to hold on, but the cracks were showing and recently they finally broke. I had a feeling this was gonna happen eventually, but it’s still sad to hear cause of the actual good stuff that was done at rooster teeth and those that did good work there.
