That St Alphonsus quote is gold, I will have to remember that next time I have scruples. The advice about thinking of our Lady during temptations to sins of the flesh is also great. Been practicing that for a while. Thanks Steve.

I say "VADE RETRO SATANA" with force, as he really hates this! As stated by Holy Mother Church to speak it! A Hail Mary or In Latin sung after to clear the air! In your own composition of notes, much like a Gregorian chant! Beautiful bliss!

I’m in constant harassment of temptation against Holy Purity for several years . My lamentation to 2 Holy Priests who gave me the very same answer : Pray this little prayer immediately, “ Jesus , Mary and St. Joseph , I Love You , Save Souls . Jesus , Mary and St. Joseph , I Love You and Trust You . “ I repeat that prayer over and over until I am left in Holy Peace . The devil cannot stay when The Holy Family is called on for help . But sometimes that miserable devil is very hard determined to tear down my resistance, and at the suggestion of a holy soul I also use Holy Water, with the Sign of the Cross ,and then the devil leaves .

@@Intrepid_Insomniacwhen a sin is done, it may not be in our thoughts, but the enemy knows we had done it. But anyway, when we go to confession, that sin is no longer, and cannot be used against us.

@@ysi4607Respectfully, I'm not sure the sin is gone as for usage of temptation by the demon. After confession, the sin is forgiven by God, so that won't be a stain on your soul any longer, but I think the demon may still be able to tempt you there. For instance, if a man commits a sin against purity and confesses it, the sin is forgiven by God, but one may be hit by temptations of further impurity or relapse into it afterwards. I think that the demons still know of that sin and can try and tempt you afterwards, but it doesn't have as great of an effect towards temptation afterwards. Hopefully I'm making sense. God bless!

2 Corinthians 10:3-6 For though we walk in the flesh, we do not war according to the flesh. For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal but mighty in God for pulling down strongholds, casting down arguments and every high thing that exalts itself against the knowledge of God, bringing every thought into captivity to the obedience of Christ.

In a way, he’s saying don’t stop-that is, don’t stop where the devil wants you to stop (at the bait); rather, keep going past it. Don’t waste your energy wrestling with the bad. Keep moving towards the good.

As I have re-Catechized myself, that is the answer for everything. “Don’t do it, you will go to hell.” Easy peasy. Another question to ask yourself….”Do I really want to confess that again?” It was very difficult the first time to confess it. Maintaining your state of grace, takes precedence.
