I was born in England. I have had dogs all my life. They are all the family I have left. This is my hill. I have just got a puppy as my lovely boy died suddenly last year abd I was diwn to my late husband's old dog. My puppy is going to give me companionship, purpose, to feel needed as noone I asked seems to need my help, the puppy will provide motivation to exercise daily, to invest in my health, he will be my emotional support, lots of oxytocin, protection when out and in the home. Hoping he will have a healthy happy old age and we will get slower and age together. My last dog. My heart dog. The Briard. I have called him Wilfred. Old English for Desiring Peace. My dogs are everything. He has even perked up my old dog. She is 14 years, eating all her meals once again and is playful. They power of a young life in the home. I will never stop being around dogs.

In Ireland I brought my young dog to the park in a medium sized town. It was early summer and I was stunned to find the pathways covered in human spit. I could not in good conscience bring her back there. Many new comers to the town hang out in this park, Which has been a place to walk dogs since the Victorian era.
Despite dog ownership being a lucrative business, share holders and big corporations, I have no doubt that they already have a plan or two for our dogs and are already testing the waters…..we must be alert to their shenanigans.

You are lucky. All my family and friends are, or have been in the past, dog owners. My friend's dog was almost killed by an out of control Bully-type dog last year. Over £1000 vet bill the day of the attack, the police said it was useless taking action against the owner, who was known to them and wasn't worth pursuing. Our GSD was attacked by an off-lead labrador (yes, really!) and then again by a Westie (yes, really!). And the sheep field behind our house was a disaster area during covid, when the only excuse for some people to walk was to take a dog, some of which were just left to chase the sheep around the field, totally out of control.

Despite dog ownership being a lucrative business, share holders and big corporations, I have no doubt that they already have a plan or two for our dogs and are already testing the waters…..we must be alert to their shenanigans.
Getting flack for this in Ireland too. Cant take dogs anywhere in the countryside for farmers banning walkers, during Covid everything on 4 legs was fair game for stealing right in front of owners noses and puppy farms exploded everywhere, only for them to be dumped 2 years later. As I seen the restrictions put on dog owners and it’s nothing to do with lead behaviour, I decided not to get another dog ever after my last one passed away 2 months ago, I’ve had a dog all my adult life and as a single woman felt self assured to have that extra level of protection with me as well as all the other mental health and fitness benefits.
I don’t have a dog if Abdul doesn’t like open spaces being used by dog walkers then tough I will get one

You are lucky. All my family and friends are, or have been in the past, dog owners. My friend's dog was almost killed by an out of control Bully-type dog last year. Over £1000 vet bill the day of the attack, the police said it was useless taking action against the owner, who was known to them and wasn't worth pursuing. Our GSD was attacked by an off-lead labrador (yes, really!) and then again by a Westie (yes, really!). And the sheep field behind our house was a disaster area during covid, when the only excuse for some people to walk was to take a dog, some of which were just left to chase the sheep around the field, totally out of control.
@sandradavies7804 Lucky - hm. When living in Sydney, my cat was savaged by a dog that the police were looking for because he killed another dog the week before. My cat died. This dog lived in the area and the dogcatcher looking for him said he was getting out because the owner had not properly contained his garden. As for labradors, I met one lab that was hostile and predictably, he had an indifferent, hostile owner, a man in his late fifties. Small dogs are frequently inclined to try and have a go at larger dogs, I walked a maltichon who sometimes tried to egg on the bichon and bichoodle she lived with to chase a larger dog at dog parks but I was on to her and would always stop her. OWNERS OR WALKERS ARE RESPONSIBLE FOR THE DOG. Most people by far are good owners, in UK 36% of the population own at least one dog and in Australia it is 49%. I would say you have been unlucky and that is in the teeth of a pair of border collies that my sister owned and omitted to train, who chased sheep in the neighbour's property in rural Goulburn, NSW. The poor dogs were shot, so suffered for what was their family's human neglect. People being careless are 99.9% the cause. Strong breed instincts have to be accounted for and the dog treated properly to direct them correctly. In 5 years of dogwalking different breeds one sees and hears a lot, apart from personal experiences.

I prefer dogs to people. Currently we have 4 golden retrievers. But one will not be around for much longer as she has a tumour on her brain and spine (only found out yesterday after she had an MRI) so we are keeping her comfortable until she goes.
Have had dogs since the mid 1990s.
I am a happier at home with them than being around people.

Question. They are trying to ban dogs. Dog owners won't comply, so they'll be fined, at least. Where's the fine money going to go? Back to the community in some way?? Into corrupt politicians' pockets??? To help fund more terrorism?? Cats will be next, same deal, then, what's after that?? The only truly domesticated animal completely changed from its original ancester the Wolf.
It also why we do not want animals slaughter the Halal or Kosher way. Those who eat meat seek the most humane way, this is the first priority before belief systems. If obe cannot eat meat slsughtered humanely go veggie.
