Problem is also the calibration system, it is antiquated and rly stupid. Like a 100 ELO player starts at what, 1000 ELO? So he has to lose a ton of games to finally end up in his actual ELO, the games he is playing on his way down will almsot all be horribly unbalanced.
I always think you should start at the bottom of the ladder. Maybe face a few AI ranker battles. I dunno, but a better way to get the players to know where they are and that they are progressing when they get better.
@@loganquasar5124 If everyone starts at 0 you're not introducing new points to the pool of Elo points. When players stop playing the game or if the playerbase grows, you're going to experience Elo deflation. This is a problem because, unaddressed, 600-Elo players will have maybe an 80% win chance against 570-rated players and new players will never win a game unless they play against someone with less than 40 Elo or whatever. You could fix this by awarding fewer points to winners of a match. But then, after some time, you will have a situation where a 10-Elo player has a 90% win chance against a 9-Elo player. So you have to adjust the system again. And then you have 0,05-Elo players winning against 0,02-Elo players and so on. The only way to have players start at 0 is if the devs manually crunched the math by estimating numbers of returning/leaving players and running that up against numbers of new players to keep the active Elo pool reasonable. That's a lot of maintenance work.

@@Endrit719 Yeah honestly this gave me a serious pain to watch this. All these militia for virtually nothing. I was screaming at the screen for him to freaking attack. At the end he finally attacks, then resigns without a fight.
I thought it was which disappointed me a little. If blue actually attacked instead of sitting with an idle army for half the game he actually could have won
A javelin isn’t a spear. The problem with a javelin is that it’s quite oddly balanced for a melee weapon, making it extremely cumbersome when used one handed. Considering how quick and agile a wolf is I would not be surprised if one could win in a fight against a man with a javelin and a shield. The shield is probably more of a hindrance than a help in fact, since it will prevent you from wielding the javelin effectively.
I'm always impressed by the stuff these players get right, despite all the stuff that makes us pull our hair out. Blue was making villagers constantly all game, even when the eco K/D was 29/1 he was only a small number of vills behind. He got blacksmith upgrades, and prioritised armor over forging. House-walling the front of the base etc. Got all the eco upgrades. Multiple military production buildings.
@@codykrueger796 When the enemy has ranged units, absolutely. Better to deal less damage but actually *reach* the enemy than have good weapons but never even survive to get close enough to hit them. Armor upgrades are also cheaper, and your infantry have a higher chance of surviving until forging arrives afterwards. Yet you can still make a good case for picking forging first in certain circumstances; like when you have both cavalry and infantry and want them both upgraded ASAP, or if you want to do a surprise attack and deal a lot of damage quickly before the enemy can even react. Forging is also a good choice for scout rushes, since you want to pick off villagers fast *before* they can flee. Besides, speed is a scout's best defense anyway (when properly micromanaged). On the other hand, for archers the fletching upgrades are generally a better early pick than the armor upgrades. They increase range (and thus the chance to deal some damage) and will also benefit any buildings that can fire arrows.
LELs always do this where they make a absolute ton of army but then they never ever send any to the other base. It drives me insane. And the opponent is never fully walled because it's LEL which makes it even worse.
This reminds me of a very similar game you already casted! The dude won with a million men at arms against an opponent in either imperial or castle age
When I was young I always only had the demo version where you could only play one game and don’t go up to imp, so I didn’t even know you could go higher…
I actually really enjoyed this one as a serious game. These guys get so so so much right despite getting a lot of it wrong. Both of these players obviously are trying to learn the game and will probably do very well if they keep with it.
Funniest thing about this I think is that blue could have won that game at any time by A moving his horde into reds base, even in castle if he would just go around castles in the middle. Even when he resigned he had force to level enemy economy, evening the odds.
Imagining T90 at the optometrist's, chin in the big lens machine, with the optometrist flicking lenses back and forth in front of a picture of farms asking in a bored voice "One, or two?"
Not sure if you've been following this carlos player but he keeps doing these until yesterday. Carlos in a 4v4 game (with one ally instant quit) made 40+ longswordmen (yes he upgraded) and devastated the opponent next to him who thought he was safe enough with walls (and Carlos came by ships). He even trained tons of fully upgraded Coustilliers in late game and fought epic battles against enemy paladins. A great player.
Man if Carlos had just finished that house wall instead of leaving huge gaps for some reason this would have been interesting. No matter how weird his priorities, his colossal vil lead would have given him huge res. Why settle for 50+ infantry when you could have 150+!
Regarding the "stupid" sentence about appreciating the time in feudal age more instead of rushing into castle age. That advice works actually perfectly fine in terms of real life. Bonus: in Empire Earth each match could take hours and sometimes you felt seriously "nostalgic" for a victorious engagement in the earlier ages of the game because there are so fricking many lol. Also helps to keep your swordsman around while you're dropping nuclear war on your enemy.
Listening to your commentaries on these LEL can be so interesting sometimes. I never know how these crazy plays are going to make you feel or how you'll react. What a blast!
I was totally rooting for Carlos, why did the game ended when it was getting so good!? Also, his gamestyle reminds me of a player named "Why not?" Idk if people remember him tho. I just love LEL.
I've often wondered. Have you ever watched any RUclips channels like Historymarche or Kings and Generals that talk about these civs and the real historical battles they had?

Well, Red had army at home, Blue probably just hope for a defenceless base, so he just said nope there is no way I could win the fight, and thb it probably will be.
I think playing Vikin or Malian Militia only is funny. since they get alot of good upgrades and can be deceptivly tanky VS arrows. I think the thing that makes it frustrating to watch is that we have seen better player at much lower ELO then Blue.
618 ELO - Militia meme strats.
628 ELO - Deadly serious gameplay.

T90: best tip to improve is always keep producing
Blue: got it, always keep producing Militia

Now THIS was the true LEL content we all know and love.
