In 1969 I was 15 years old and lived in North Carolina. My cousin who was 18 at the time and I hitched hiked to Woodstock. We got a ride in Virginia with two couples who was headed there anyway So we road with them the whole way there. I grew up a lot on that trip, done a lot of things I never had even dreamed of, but to this day it's one of the best memories I have. Thank you for taking me back!

I graduated from high school in 1969. I fell in love with the music from woodstock, CCR is one of my favorites. I was a pretty conservative kid, but I did identify with the hippy (anti-war) movement of the day. I wish I had went to Woodstock, it was a cultural milestone. I had many classmates who ended up in the military and in Viet Nam, several died. It was a sad situation.

Judging by the dirt floor that "basement" could have been a root cellar where food for the guests were stored. IF there was a fireplace somewhere they could have cooked the food and sent it up a "food elevator" of sorts to the dining room.

OMG! I was driving through town and I thought I saw Jimmy, but told myself I was being silly. It was you guys! I am glad you enjoyed Woodstock. It has changed a lot over the years, but its still pretty cool. &Don't feel bad, that hike is killer! You can look up original pics of the Overlook Mountain House, its kinda stunning. It burned down in the 1800 (if I remember correct) I've lived in the area my whole life, I wasn't alive for the first Woodstock, but I lived less than two miles from the second one in 1994. I was 17, and that was one of the craziest weekend of my life! Very cool to see you guys enjoying NY.

Admitting a lot of my age here...yep I was there, and to be honest my memory is pretty hazy as I was a 20 year old sailor at the time and I was pretty (ok VERY) drunk for most of the festival. There were a lot of great performers there. and one became a personal friend over the years Richie Havens look him up I have a photo of him holding my 3 year old daughter. I've never been back. Oddly enough I did no drugs while I was there (or even since then) but a bottle of 101 proof wild turkey kept me rocking for most of the festival. Joan Baez, Country Joe and the Fish, Santana, Canned Heat, John Sebastian,. Jefferson airplane, Sly and the Family Stone Crosby Stills Nash and Young were there, and Arlo Guthrie among others. Thanks you two for giving me a flashback to a LOOONG time ago!

I didn't go to Woodstock myself, but a few years later in my life I met and became close friends with another young woman a few years older than me who had gone to Woodstock when she was 17 years old. She had been living in New Jersey at the time, in foster care, and hitch-hiked to the concert. While at Woodstock, she hung around the back stage area and meet a lot of the artists that performed there, also meet a lot of folks in "wanna be" bands that were hanging out in the back stage area hoping for a chance to perform. Among the artists she met were a couple of members of what would later become The Allmans Brothers Band and given she was semi-homeless at the time, they invited her to come back to Georgia with them after the concert was over. She accepted and ended up living in the same house as Duane and Greg Allman, as well as other members of the band. She was living with them while they were recording their first album. Unfortunately, she also started using heroin while she lived there, a problem that affected various members of the band off and on for many years, as it also affected my friend off and on for many years. During the years we were friends, she was clean (not using), but as time drew our lives apart from each other, I heard she had begun using again. I don' know what ever happened with her, we lost contact decades ago, as happens in life. But I have to say, she had some great stories to tell...

Also if ya dig and enjoyed this video and a wild time for sure 😀 you may also enjoy the song " Most of All " By Glenn Kaiser and Where Roses Grow Live by Rez Band Awesome songs check them out. I remember hearing the song by Led Zepp " In My Time of Dyin " during my drug years and made me think about death and Jesus. Then a hippy friend that dug Jesus told me more of Jesus love and forgiveness and how I could also know Jesus love. So in 1981 I cried out to Jesus and wow man He came into my life and I had and have so much joy and peace and now know that through Jesus when I die I will be with Him in Heaven. Hey Jesus loves each of you also and yall can know Him if you are at all open. Just cry out to Him and a good question to ask yourself if you were to die today would you go to heaven ? And if yes why ? To find out more please read the Gospel of John in the Bible or check out the movie on RUclips. 😀

Ha! Old as I might feel, compared to you youngsters, I'm not quite old enough to have gone to Woodstock! Woodstock is a long way from Wyoming, and if I had gone, I would have still been in diapers! That said, I've seen pictures of my parents from that era, dressed like they might have gone to Woodstock! That's particularly entertaining, since my parents were conservative ranchers from Wyoming, but they DID dress the part when they were young and hipppie!

Several years after arriving home though, I did get to meet John Lennon in Philidelphia in 1975. Got his autograph and was honored to be a target of his wittiness. Better than Woodstock and a bit less muddy. You looked great in the JL sunglasses, Natalie!

I worked with a guy in South America who went to the 1969 festival. I think he was wearing Jimmy's shirt at work 😂

I was 15 at the time but wanted to go so bad. My sister’s roommate went. My brother was so mad at his boss because he wouldn’t let him off work. Our friend said everyone just left their cars in the road and walked in. The music was of my time and I still love it. Janis Joplin was my all time favorite.

I was there over 1989 years and there was nothing in Bethel but the original general store in Bethel. The still sold woodstock related stuff but no music festival center or realy any just a grass place with a sign park. We also when to woodstock the town Being more season we we say a musical at the theater in town we say Hair it was the 20 anniversary or the musical and concert. Love watching your adventures, this time reminding me of one of mine when I was in my 20s before my wife I had kids. Thanks
