For the 10th edition of the we are friends series, mau5trap takes a different turn. In lieu of featuring up-and coming artists, the focus shifts towards an incredible line-up of artists from the label’s history. Of course, there is mau5trap’s label head deadmau5 who offers “Arguru 2k19,” a new version of this classic cut from his third album random album title.

Agreed, I feel like his live shows are exactly that, but if only he'd release them as albums after the fact. I'd buy em.
I feel like for every WAF release Joel just goes into the "unreleased stuff" folder, puts everything in it into a playlist, presses random and whatever comes up first will land on WAF, lol. This time the file named "arguru_2k19" was the lucky winner.

I agree that it's more aggressive and I'm sure this is objectively a better made song but I think I do prefer the more smooth and subtle sound of the original

I couldn't disagree more. I find the original way more aggressive and cleaner in my ears. This version sounds more like a cheesier and friendlier version, not so punchy. Still good anyway.

Wow. The difference in sound quality is actually astronomical. I thought the original arguru was mixed well enough but Joel somehow made it better.

@@wefailmusic Nah it doesn't have to do anything with the technology. It's just that Joel's mixing / mastering skills have come such a long way in all these years. I notice myself that even though I haven't been producing for a long time, my mixes from a few months back sound a lot worse than they do now (which is not to say they're good now lol). If by technology you mean his studio however, yea I guess, that Dolby Atmos studio lets him do some very detailed sound engineering he couldn't quite do in a different environment.

you actually agreed with me. there are just a thought of new software programs that help you make the sound image wilder, thicker which did not exist before. and I’m not going to talk about analog stuff. deadmau5 from the late 90's works with professional sound engineers,stive duda and others. so I think it's a matter of technology after all. but yea experience matters

I remember hearing arguru Dallas Texas in the palladium ballroom in 2011. Headlining tour with excision and zedd... what a tour ... 6gs of mushrooms at deadmau5 probably the most vivid day I can remember to this day. arguru comes on, revives me, picks my soul up , start shuffling with no thought, just pure soul. Deadmau5 is the king.

The best thing ever that is good for me is I practice my hobby every day or when I feel that I have to do so. Doing things that you love every day helps in activating your brain and to feel comfortable.
Out of the classics I think the original and jaded have to be my favourite.. truly just astounding. And this, while different does sound amazing.

Wow, can't believe I missed this in 2019. I used to love this track back in the day, especially after I read a little bit about Arguru himself. My favourite version was the one with the piano intro.
This song brings me back! This was probably my favorite deadmau5 song when I first discovered him when I was just a kid back in 2008...I finally saw him live for the very first time in 2019, went to both of the shows he played - one of them was on New Year's Eve, so I just HAD to go again because of that, as well as the fact that it was long overdue that I was finally seeing him live! He played this version of Arguru as an encore on NYE and I was immediately hit with so much nostalgia and excitement! I've been patiently waiting for this release ever since!
I have not heard it for a long time, I remember when this song appeared and it is hard to believe that so many years have passed and it seems like it was yesterday
