I didn't know this was an official channel because the National Galleries Scotland thunbnail is so small and generic. I thought I was originally clicking on a non-official source.
Fascinating topic. Clearly a lot more to explore here. Would be good to know more about other gay artists and makers from Scotland. Doesn't have much on this subject. People forget though that Section 28 was pretty recent and that decriminalisation of homosexuality was so late in Scotland compared to England/Wales.
I love that: "becoming aware of the silences in the collection" - I look forward to the works of marginalized and underrepresented artists continuing to be unearthed and added to physical and digital archives ❤🧡💛💚💙💜
This is so very sad that part of humanity has been chocked and hidden even murdered ,, in our world ,,,queer is very natural not every one is goign to be queer ,,not every one can be but pity the pour souls that have had to supress there lives and passions and even under so much pressure still give so much to a world of people who hate them so bad ,,,will we ever come to realize that queer people are beautiful and wonderful part of humanity and should thrive live in all libertys.
Genderfluid and genderqueer people absolutely do exist. The video makes a point to say at the end that we have no way of knowing how most of these artists would have self-identified in their own time. But we have a lot more vocabulary and a much broader understanding today to describe how we experience our gender. So if Claude lived today and knew what we know now... who knows what terminology would be most accurate?
Wow this video needs to be more famous

Great video! Thanks for sharing!❤❤❤
i thought theyd talk about some poc artists since they specifically mentioned how there was a bigger focus on white perspectives
same here. i was upset with how they didn’t add any bipoc queer artist
agreed, would have love to see more art from around the globe
I love these videos! thank you!
im happy i discovered this channel!
Uhhh It's so frustrating that you have to censor nudity even in art in order to pass censorship.
Fascinating
great vid but she brushed past “her stepsister and lover” with a speed
excelente video 🧡🧡🧡🧡🧡🧡
Mas o menos entiendo, y me encantó. Pero podrían subtitular al español please.
This is so coooool.
Gaylors would be great at this work of finding the hidden things....
u forgot bruce sargeant :[
so tired of religious, and political/cultural ignorance. let art and life be free.
❤
I like the opening line being about cis white males and then all they showed was white lgbtq art 😂
2:30
Imagine your porn folder going up in a museum
7:33 Okay good they *do* talk about it
7:51 😂 called it
💜
please do not confuse cross dressing with being transexual. Claude was a drag performer, not transexual or ''genderfluid'' which does not exist

That's it? I was hoping and expecting to see more, and learn more, 😥
I'm pretty sure this is going to a whole series
These look more gay and I don’t think the are odd at all. Why do you think they are queer and odd?
A small fire will end all this.
