I do simple crochet items, hats, scarves, dish scrubbies, etc. It is hard for this 62 year old grandma to stand out on a saturated knit and crochet market, but I do try to use my social media to reach my customer base to the best of my technical knowledge. The hardest part is finding young folk who are patient enough to walk me through and learn how to use programs that could potentially help my products sell better. So I just keep plugging away at it the best I can. 💖💖💖
Also, great customer service goes a long way! I was skeptical about messaging my buyers but after only a week of using your swipe files for updating customers on their orders, I’ve gotten three five star reviews! And having great reviews helps buyers feel more comfy buying. PLUS it makes me happy to see my customers happy and I like being able to stand out from other shops by being a real human
TOTALLY masterful colorful job summarizing "What is Branding" in a breathtakingly short time. Gave me a whole new perspective. I was on the edge of my seat! Inspiring video. Just WOW. Thank you.
Hi Starla 😊🌺 I've watched many of your videos about how to choose the right tags for Etsy. While analyzing other shops, I noticed that some successful listings use long-tail keywords that have no rank in eRank (showing 'Not Available' or very low search volume, like 20 searches per month). Yet, these listings sell really well. In your videos, you usually focus on finding tags that at least have some ranking in eRank (even if they are yellow or orange). I try to follow this approach, but sometimes it’s almost impossible to find ranked long-tail keywords. The only ones I can find often fall into the 'Not Available' category. So my question is-should I still use these low-ranking tags if they sound relevant? Or is it better to avoid them? Thank you ❤
It finally clicked about what "branding" is when you said it was about capturing a specific emotion. I have a few shops I've struggled with, dropped, and picked up again off and on since 2011, barely making any sales. Number 1 issue? Terrible photos. I am just not a photographer. I can take a good picture ONLY when lighting, etc., is already perfect for me. The shop I am really trying to focus on right now is Shopping With Dolly. It's a shop for handmade doll clothes. I only have a few things in there right now, but I have a lot of items to list. Does anyone have some free advice to give me? No specific aspect, since I've struggled with it all: branding, photos, SEO, pricing... But, anyone who loves dolls and doll clothing, I'd ❤❤❤ input. It's mostly for dolls like American Girl, but also some for Wellie Wishers, Blythe, baby dolls, Barbie and Smart dolls.
I'm overwhelmed. I don't think it's possible for one person to do all these things alone. Research, design, photos/mockups, create listings, Instagram. Everything is time-consuming and you have to master everything at a superlative level to build a brand 😢
Hey Starla! I’ve been looking at some bulk uploader tools, like Vela, for Etsy. Would Etsy factor using a bulk uploader and CSV file into the algorithm anywhere or is this something that’s safe to do?
Interesting question. I don't think Etsy has these capabilities, especially since they grant API access to developers so tools like these can be created. 🙂
Question here, does it matter how we write tags? For example, lower case vs capital letter in the beginning like: Floral Bouquet vs floral bouquet..and florals vz floral?? Does this make a difference
It's not really a podcast but our live sessions are around an hour and 30 minutes long. You can find all past replays of the Friday Bean here on my channel in the "live" tab. ❤️
These are all good advice, but what do you do when Etsy plays with the algorithm or whatever they do and, for instance, in our case we have 10 orders in a couple of hours and then nothing, no orders, no likes, and the traffic in that period drops dramatically? It's like they remove the store from search. And it's like this for a few months already.
@@ilanpasler5252 agree but not really relevant to the topic covered in this video. Content takes time to create. What gets published is typically planned weeks in advance, especially since I edit all of my own content.
That's totally fine! When it comes to your business, you get to choose what's best for you. My job here is to focus on demographics and where sellers are currently finding the most success, despite the political climate. It has nothing to do with my personal beliefs.

So great that you have a clear vision for your shop! This is a good sign, you're on the right track.

The verdict is still out, but I did sign up for an account and have been using it to see.

What is better to do to get noticed? Relist a listing that has made 11 sales but expired in June or relist it as a copy and start it as a new listing?
Always renew the same listing. You'll lose all of your positive listing quality from your past sales if you start over.

Capitalization and plurals do not matter. 🙂
@StarlaMoore thank you !
Thank you.
So glad I found you! I really like your videos. I am looking at starting on IG. I would love more info on that. :)

Make sure your SEO is optimized and then drive your own traffic to your shop with Social Media. I suggest never relying just on Etsy organic search.
This week's most important issue is the impact Trump's tariffs could have on Etsy.
