I'm a bit surprised people don't really bring this part up, but as Christine is getting crushed by the bulldozer, her odometer looks like it's going from 00001 to 99999. I always assumed the reason for that was after Arnie dies, she loses her main source of love and energy to feed off of. The odometer seems to represent her state of strength and power, because throughout the movie it starts to go in reverse as she feeds off of Arnie's spirit and affections more and more. Once she loses the person who was devoted to her and fueled her (no pun intended), she starts to lose her strength and returning her to her weak condition as she was in the beginning. Of course, that's just my theory.

For me, it was depressing to imagine being the only sentient car in a world of humans. I knew she was a killer car, but her killings were justified during the movie, it was always the bullies which acted first. And when the final scene came and Arnie is the one driving the bulldozer along with his girlfriend, it felt like such a betray. Christine being all alone with no one to side with her, and being forced into an unfair match using heavy machinery. I'm aware that that wasn't the director's intention, but that was what I interpreted back then. The final time the radio powers itself, I told my mom: "Look! She is going to repair herself!". And maybe my mom thought I was telling that out of fear and looking at Christine as a menace, so she replied: "No, she is destroyed beyond repair". And all my hope was gone with that phrase.

Believe it or not, there was in fact a third car that survived. For the scene where Christine kills Moochie, the front was partially rubber and was being pushed from behind by the bulldozer. At first the car was going to be scrapped but a car enthusiast bought it. It's been featured in many Hollywood car shows ever since.

I have a neighbor, who used to own a 58 Fury. He told me, he went to see this movie when it came out and the first thing he did, was look for a Fury. He found one, fixed it up, and painted it red, obviously. Unfortunately, he got rid of it in 2007, because the engine block cracked and he couldn’t find a replacement that wasn’t overly expensive.

I have a neighbor, who used to own a 58 Fury. He told me, he went to see this movie when it came out and the first thing he did, was look for a Fury. He found one, fixed it up, and painted it red, obviously. Unfortunately, he got rid of it in 2007, because the engine block cracked and he couldn’t find a replacement that wasn’t overly expensive.
