As an Former Air Force Air Transportation Supervisor 2T271 (seven level) Aerial Port Squadron, I totally agree with you, the perks and opportunities for a five level in almost all career fields are great, I was able to attend more schools, and some awesome opportunities for tdy assignments were available for five levels and above. So put in the extra hours of studying and training now, you won’t regret it.
In only 1 year i can talk to a Air force recruiter about enlishting and being a fire fighter is my dream job and thanks ro you i can get kind of a inside look at what life will be like. Keep up the great content
Dylan Lowry just so you know, Air Force and structural firefighting are very different, if you want structural go to army, if you want airport marines or Air Force
Retired out firedawg. I was at Cheyenne mnt from 1998 to 2007 . as for my favorite truck . it was the Oshkosh P-15 as a driver operator while I was in Rhein Main afb in Germany from 1991 to 1997
So happy I found this channel I’m gonna be a fireman in the Air Force soon and I’m glad to see from an actual Air Force firman what the job involves !!
Christina Cisco My dad was in Security Forces for 4-6 years. He never did any police work. All he did was guard gates and aircraft hangers. Not to mention he also got to guard Nukes in Wyoming BY HIMSELF, in the middle of fields in winter living out of a truck with a camper shell and eating MREs in -0 temputures for weeks at a time.
Love the content. Quick question on PT at tech school: From other videos I've seen it seems like a lot of the physical training at Goodfellow is job specific stuff (carries, drags, etc). To what extent does that kind of training replace the traditional military "pushup-situp-run" style training that characterizes BMT? Thanks!
Watching you go through your checks reminds me of when I was first enlisted and I would do the same thing as a diesel mechanic. The military was great and I would never change it for the world. Are you going to college for anything?
Hey man, I'm shipping 17 July for Fire Protection and have a couple questions I'd love to see in a future Q&A. How many runs do you guys normally get on a 24? With a 24 on/24 off schedule you always have work the next morning. How does that affect your personal life? Finally, how does taking leave work for your job? If you take say 2 days off for leave does that mean you technically get 5 days off because you're just taking 2 24's off? Thanks a lot
How much of the medical / emt from tech counts towards medical collage cresits and what classes? How much time for schooling do you have, could you do 3 classes a semester once you get your class 5?
I signed a 6 year with the FLNG and it was 4 NG 2 AD, but i am thinking of changing my MOS to firefighting after my 6, do you think it is worth it? And, once you get out of the AF would you be a FF/EMT in the civilian life?
Was fire fighter tech school hard? I got booked for fire protection, and I’m just curious if my job could change at at all through out basic, and if it’s easy to fail the tech school?
What is the process to sign up in the Air Force to become a firefighter? I’ve heard that Air Force recruiters are very hard to get a hold of, is that true?
Roberto Sella No. Your certifications won’t matter on the DOD side. You will be trained and receive the certs you need to work on our side. In short you have to join the military as a firefighter. Those jobs are not easy to get and we the army and marines train with the Air Force and graduate from the same fireschool which is Goodfellow AFB.
Not true, Certs definitely help. I’m currently in the process and I received certs through Florida. Those certs got me a confidency booking and help you go in as a higher rank. You do have to take the certifications again, but they definitely help.
I signed up for the firefighter exam in my state, and my test is next saturday. I'm hoping to pass. My only problem was the math, and possibly mechanical aptitude but I'll see how I do on 12/08.
@@Timbodadon i can't see my scores online which means i failed. Honestly i didn't know if i was going to like being a firefighter so i see it as gods plan. The military is what i'm more interested in. I mean i might take it again. Idk i'm more interested in law enforcement than anything.
I’m planning on joining the Air Force as a fire fighter as well. I’m wondering did you join reserve or you went active ? Because I want to go to college also
I was hoping you would touch on this but that's okay. When you're an air force firefighter, do you you use air force ranking or firefighter ranking? Or both? In essence, do people refer to you as rookie/firefighter/lieutenant/captain/chief, or as airman/airman 1st class/sergeant/and so on. Was also wondering if you need to be an EMT or be trained as an EMT to do your job
In my civilian fire department the yellow helmets are the new guys that know nothing black helmeted are firefighters and officers and chief's are white I've been in almost two years I'm currently becoming a probationary firefighter
When I get my b.s degree in environmental sciences will that help my chances of going in at a higher rank in the air force but not as a firefighter or both or neither ?
Alek Drake - Because of your degree why not Aim High and go to USAF/OTS to become a AF Environmental Officer instead. A 2LT pays way more then what a Airman makes...
Well you can’t get to where I’m at because you’re joining a completely different branch. I’m at a Air Force base, I’m in the Air Force as a firefighter. Completely two different careers. Best chances is trying to go Air Force with fire protection as your job.

How did it go ?
Are you going to stay in the Air Force for more than four years
sick content as usual brother! keep at it
Love your Air Force videos, I plan on enlisting when I’m done with school but for security forces. Keep up the good work 👍🏼
Christina Cisco might want to weigh your options. Been in 6 years and nearly every cop hates their job. Lol

THIS IS ALL TRUE
Christina Cisco might want to re think that lol
Christina Cisco Don't let the haters decide for you! If that's your goal, do it. The military wasn't meant to be simple anyways
thank you for your service!
Sorry I’m late Randy !! About to catch up while I do cardio 🔥💪🏽

How much do you get paid ? Does the civilian firefighters take control of a incident? Weird to me, I never knew air force has a fire department
Great video as always randy!
Can you be an officer in fire protection? Or is fire protection just for enlisted?
i know im late but enlisted
What’s the difference Between military firefighter experience and coming into the military with firefighter experience? Does it help anyone in anyway?
Is it worth accepting this mos? It came up and I quality for it..
How much of the medical / emt from tech counts towards medical collage cresits and what classes? How much time for schooling do you have, could you do 3 classes a semester once you get your class 5?
Good video dude! You should do more work based videos cuz there rlly good!

Alan Weems study, work hard, and you’ll be fine. The people who fail out don’t normally want to be there in the first place.
Do you carry five inch on the crash truck? Also maybe upgrade to a leather helmet
hey man, how did you get the MOS fire protection, is it choosable?
Anonymous Fire yes it is
Cool video randy good job keep it up
what types of verhicles do you have at your station? great video btw
Can you reenlist in the air force? I heard you cant
What is the process to sign up in the Air Force to become a firefighter? I’ve heard that Air Force recruiters are very hard to get a hold of, is that true?
When you finish your contract with the Air Force would you consider joining a Paid or Volunteer Fire Dept.
So how do I get your job as a fireman? I’m a fireman on civilian side. Does that help?
Go find your local Air Force recruiter and he or she will explain everything you want to know!!!!!

I know multiple people in AF fire who never went to goodfellow because they have their certs.
Rosenbauer Panther is the way to go man. Pneumatic pierce tip
Do you need a class A to drive the truck?
If you get your five level and want to go through collage can you study something other then whatever your job is?
What are the air force firefighting ranks?
I signed up for the firefighter exam in my state, and my test is next saturday. I'm hoping to pass. My only problem was the math, and possibly mechanical aptitude but I'll see how I do on 12/08.

can u tell us how u did

So I just found out today that I have the possibility to go to BMT guaranteed firefighter. I’m seriously considering it because of your videos.
And hows that going for you :)
Does being in Air Force fire protection look better to become a civilian firefighter?
brody newman two different fields of fire fighting, yes they get trained in structural firefighting but that is not their main focus
Kyle thank you
If you went to get into ARFF, Aircraft Rescue Fire Fighting, then the the airforce is a good choice to get into
Kyle alright thanks. I’m more interested in becoming a municipal fire fighter, and was just wondering if the military route would help. Thank you
yes alot of people use airforce firefighting as a stepping stone to get a civillian firefighter job, your certs carry over
Is the engine a Pierce?
I’m planning on joining the Air Force as a fire fighter as well. I’m wondering did you join reserve or you went active ? Because I want to go to college also
Go guard
You can do college in active. It is more difficult but people do it. If you only want college then guard is probably a better choice.

What would you have to do to reach your next fire service rank vs what you would have to do to reach your next Air Force rank?
what is the highest term is there
Do you have to go through bootcamp as a firefighter in the air force?
BALLER #1 yes
When I get my b.s degree in environmental sciences will that help my chances of going in at a higher rank in the air force but not as a firefighter or both or neither ?

Thanks man ! I knew that was an army option but I will certainly look into that :)

sick video bro i'll probably start uploading videos again within the next week. I just left airmens week
Why can't you wear civ clothes?
Do you have to have an EMT to be a firefighter?
Erica Cordero yes!
No.
