- Courtesy of the Clark Santee archives, this rare performance of British blues legend John Mayall (on harmonica) and his latest incarnation of the Bluesbreakers coincided with Mayall's permanent move to Los Angeles. During the 1960's Mayall's Bluesbreakers introduced the world to magnificent talents (such as Eric Clapton, Mick Taylor, John McVie, and others) that achieved greater heights with illustrious careers in music.

Thank you for this good memories from the hippie days!!
Wow! A wonderful historic clip. Great to see footage of the late great Duster Bennett on guitar/harmonica/vocals. Thanks for posting.
Thanks. I was wondering. I don't remember this version of the band. John's had so many.
Thank you for your talent and music, Mr. Mayall. Rest Well!
Love you John forever ❤
RIP John Mayall, hugely influential British blues legend
I will sorely miss John Mayall. 😢. Really sad news for me. Well, of course for all that knew him and his joyful music.

I saw Duster Bennet live years ago, brilliant on his own too. I'd completely forgot, till I came across this on the tube. Saw John Mayall live too, at Gloucester Regal, doing 'Turning point' . Brilliant show.

I played this 3 times straight. I loved this so much proving that when something works you stick with it
Turning Point is my favorite album.
What could be better than this majestic and double trouble the blues make me so happy love these Bands well done U Tube
Good Swinging Boogie ,
John Mayall Still Alive And Long Live !
Duster Bennett is singing variations around the chorus of "Let's Get Together" by Jimmy Reed. The verses could be drawn from other songs or his own improvisation. A fantastic piece of footage finally seeing light of day.
R. I. P. John Mayall🌹🥀!! 💜
This must have come from some really deep archive. I saw this show when it first came out.
My friend (thanks Doug H) bought me my first John Mayall album from the local Kmart. I’ve been playing harp since then all these 50 years.
RIP John Mayall !!
Ich habe dich vor Jahren in Hamburg erlebt, es war phänomenal !
Father of the blues
British and American.
Not even close. The founding fathers of the Blues originated in the Mississippi Delta, long before Mayall was even born.
The Father of the English Blues. Sure. He put he own stamp on it. But the American Blues. No way.
I know he was not an American
but he loved the blues.
People seem to have written
him off.
Let me correct it.
Father of the British Blues movement.
Thanks for posting this, and RIP John Mayall.
John Mayall - harmonica
Tony ‘Duster’ Bennett - vocals, harmonica, bass drum and hi hat
Johnny Almond - saxophone
Alex Dmochowski - bass
Jon Mark (John Michael Burchell) - acoustic guitar
That's Jon Mark (John Michael Burchell) on Acoustic...
He was on Bluesbreakers albums The Turning Point and Empty Rooms. He passed in 2021.
@@richardctaylor79 of course…Mark Almond! I will update. Thanks.
KSHE radio played his music back in the day.
Class
Caught him in maybe 2016, SoFla. Marvelous concert
walking in john mayalls' blues shoes on you tube now.
👍👍👍
Duster Bennet on Vocals
💪♥️🎼
perhaps the longest haired musician and the shortest haired musician of 1970 LMAO
That’s duster bennett! How come his name isnt in the video title or description?
The guy on the bass is Alex Dmochowski!
Doing a hell of a Larry Taylor impression. This was the era when the Mole played with Mayall on Turning Point
@@mikehiersSteve Thompson was bass on Turning point , The Mole played on Empty rooms and USA Union , I think .
El bajista es leo lyons?? Dep un grande de la música. maestro de muchos
Brat music true blues
Can Somebody Post The Line Up of Who is in This Version of This band ? Thanks in Advance ....!
UNA PERLITA
Great artist.
I saw him play in 1974. If I remember correctly he had a broken leg and it was in a cast? I'm not sure, long time ago. RIP
That must have been when he was pissed and attempted to jump from a balcony into a swimming pool and missed! Apparently he really messed up his heel and was left with a permanent limp afterwards.
So...what's the name of this song? Anyone know?
Please what song is this? I’ve had a tough time looking it up, even using the chorus lyrics. I’m not seeing it show up in JM song list.
Could be Let’s Get Together Baby by Duster Bennett.
Seen him live twice. In 1973, again in 2009. In 73 it was a full band of about 9 guys including Freddie Robinson on guitar, Keef Hartley on drums & Blue Mitchell on trumpet. They really cooked. In 2009 it was a stripped down band, just him & a 4 piece band. I don't know who the guitarist was but, as you might expect, anyone playing with Mayall is gonna be good, He was, he tore it up.
Duster Bennet!
Yes! Duster was the supporting act during the European tour in 1970.
Great ! who is the saxophone player ?
Johnny Almond
Great! Who is the guy on bass? Is that Steven Tomson?
@mijnvogels3947
It's Alex Dmochowski, not Steve Thompson (that's the way he's actually spelled).
Thank you very much@@lazypokerblues
@@lazypokerblues also played with Anysley Dunbar around this time.
It isn't rock 'n roll but some type of blues...
Is John Mayall the harmonica player, also playing guitar and signing, or the harmonica player NOT singing but obviously cuing the other players?
Not singing
Where’s Clapton?
This was 1970. Clapton had been in Cream and the Plastic Ono Band and Delaney and Bonnie and Derek and the Dominoes and other stuff. Enjoy.
The centreof the blues in 60/70s was here in England..JM then made a bad mistake of moving to California, and his career at best went sideways
Jack Bruce on bass.
No.
