MUCH easier to pound beers while mowing compared to a zero turn

I have the same exact 42” Cub Cadet XT1. Bought mine 5 years ago, absolutely still love it. The turning radius is very impressive, only real complaint about is if you fill the fuel tank up more than 3/4 full and hit bumps the fuel spills out of the cap. My property is bumpy so I can’t fill all the way. I’ve only had to replace a ball joint on it in my 5 years of ownership, it was my fault, hit a large bamboo that didn’t move 😂. Easy repair and inexpensive. Love the 42 XT1

I have the 46" version of this that I bought directly from Cub Cadet. Mine has a Kohler 22 or 23Hp motor, and its rock solid. I'm getting ready to finish up my second season with it here in Olathe, KS, and will do my fall tune up shortly. My yard is not huge, and has a bunch of curvy flower beds that I must mow around and it does great. I purchased the mulching kit for it and that works excellent. I no longer rake up leaves in the fall, I just mulch them with my mower a few times, and thats it. If my yard was bigger I would have purchased a bagger, but its just not worth the expense for my size lawn. The only issue that I have is that the front wheels are a plastic type of sleeve bearing, and that has loosened up a bit, and I need to fix that issue. My buddy has the 52" version and he replaced the front tires with a metal bearing and his steering is very tight. I purchased a harbor freight riding mower jack, and I use that to clean the under side of the mower deck and to remove and sharpen the blades.

We have owned our ZT1 for 2 years. We have 7 acres with about 2 acres in grass. It is fast and as you said maneuverable. It is our go to machine. We have a small dump trailer to move things around. I have a John Deere too. The Cadet is much faster with less horsepower.

I just purchased a 46 in cub cadet a month ago and love it. I am a 76 year old woman with 1 acre to cut and this has made a huge difference from my 15 yr old Ariens tractor. Grass is thick and no clumping or blowing the clippings after I cut. Cannot wait to bag the leaves this fall.

I've had my cub cadet for three or four years now. I have the Kohler engine and I've been happy with it. It cost $1600.00 when I bought it. Amazing how much the cost of everything has gone up

I have one, it is our main mower and tractor. We have 5 acres with about an acre of grass. We also have dump trailer and a leaf mulcher. It has been pretty reliable and we put it through it paces.

I have a cub cadet xt1 42 inch cut that I bought new in 2017. I mow multiple houses in a week with it. It has 760 hours on it. The only thing I've had to do that I consider major was change fluid on the transmission. It was starting to make noise, but fresh fluid and it runs like new.

Nice! I purchased an XT1 LT50 for $2384 on 4-17 at HD. My JD L111 I bought in 2005, and has 1000 hrs, is getting worn out. It will be relegated to pulling the 40" Brinly core aerator, dethatcher, and cart. I was going to go with another JD but they're too expensive for what you get at the $2400-3000 range. I bought the 50-54" Triple bagger for it for another $520. My wife, a retired Naval officer, and retired VA nurse allowed me to get the 10% military HD discounts. I thank her for her continued service and allowing me to keep her 1-acre yard tidy. I looked at the commercial grade ZT's, and to get a quality resi/commercial one you need to spend at least $4000, and that's without a bagger. Full commercial ZT's are $7k and up. I can only guess that your ZT's are well above $10k.

I know it cost 1000 more which is significant at this price point but the Deere S240 with Kawasaki engine and Accel deck seems like a fantastic value for that usage case.

I’ve had my Cub XT1 for about three years now got the Kohler engine and it took some getting used to on hilly terrain I ride the the ridge then turn down hill and make swipes, mine is pretty has the cream wheels all yellow, they ruin the look with crappy black everything 😖looks cheap, I maintain it meticulously including deck removal cleaning sharpening oil and greasing cleaning polishing and to bug neighbors tie shine👍

I love my 22 hp Cub Cadet lawn tractor. The only problem I found is the engine vibration loosens the oil filter. So make sure it's tight before mowing the yard.

Good Choice!! I bought a new XT2 42" Cub in 2015 and couldn’t be happier with it, still going strong. The XT2 looks exactly like yours with maybe some different black plastics on top of the hood. It has the v-twin Kohler motor (22 HP I believe) and the 42” deck. I wish I had gotten the fabricated deck though since I have welded the hanger brackets on the deck already, but not that big a deal. The hose connection to clean the deck doesn’t really do that good a job. One thing to note is if the reverse starts getting painfully slow, first thing to check is for a buildup of clippings inside the frame right under the reverse pedal (you can’t see it, have to go by feel). The reverse pedal actually “bump-stops” on the clippings. I was getting ready to put a wrench to it when I discovered several postings about it. Like magic, cleaning out the pile of clippings and works great again. I’m very happy with it overall though.

One thing I learned from owning a similar riding lawnmower for 3 years is that they are NOT robust enough to survive countless hours of mowing on ground that isn't flat. I don't mean "flat" as in parallel to the horizon, I mean "smooth". If the ground is full of bumps and contours, the frame of the unit will flex and eventually self destruct. I finally sold the rider I had because the field I mowed was full of uneven contours, bumps, dips, etc. They were minor, but major enough that I could feel (and see) the frame flexing as I drove around mowing 5 acres worth of grassy terrain.
The uneven terrain eventually cause a wheel on the deck to snap off at a weld, that's how how ugly my field was.
I need a big zero turn unit, but they are cost prohibitive.

at 6:18 you can actually see the fuel gauge below the fuel cap, no need to open the hood to see how much fuel you have.

Thinking about this model but also looking at the XT2. I just wonder if the XT2 is worth an extra $1,000. Bumper, arm rests, fabricated deck (read reports of cracked welds) and a Kohler twin engine instead of a Briggs. From what I've seen the Briggs sounds fairly quiet. I would add the arm rests and the bumper on the XT1 anyway. Have also read about the Kohler being very loud and disturbing neighbors. Any input would be appreciated as I'm still undecided.

Well you asked for our opinions……..
    1) This video probably would’ve been better placed on your BTBRV Life channel as it would be a better fit. Nice video.
    2) I personally would not have chosen the Cub Cadet. I hope you don’t regret your choice, here’s why….. Today’s era of Cub Cadets (the yellow ones) are junk compared to their older counterparts (the Red ones). Why? Because in the ‘70’s & ‘80’s the red ones were made by International Harvester. They were actually implements made by the ag company. Those red ones were of good quality. I had a an uncle who farmed who had all IH equipment. When IH ran into financial troubles and merged with Case, they sold off their lawn equipment division (Cub Cadet). MTD bought the Cub Cadet line. Now MTD builds mowers for anyone willing to hire them, supposedly per your specs. Big box store name brand mowers tend to be built by MTD, MTD’s quality is very low as you showed in your video the thin stamped deck. You get what you pay for. If you want a quality mower, then you have to buy from a commercial grade (Gravely for example) or from an ag implement manufacturer, such as John Deere, or AGCO (Simplicity) for example. I hope your purchase turns out to be a good one for you, but me personally I would not buy a yellow Cub, only the older reds.
    3) You need a larger building. Looks like you’ve outgrown your new building already 😂
    4) Your video was nicely done.

I’ve always been told to never buy a mower from Lowe’s, Home Depot, Tractor Supply, or other places like that. Quality isn’t as good. Got my CC at the Case IH Cub Cadet dealer. 54ZTS stamped deck

Gas tank with the motor and battery at the rear?… makes no sense to me!. Plastic throttle lever? Thin gauge deck?.
As you can see I’m not a cubbie guy! Lemons in my opinion.
    Good luck!

They don’t build them like they used to. It is getting hard to find a good garden tractor anymore. These cubs are just lawn tractor. These are not going to last long. I went a bit more and got a X570 Deere and it should last 40 years like my old one.
