    Always loved those '67 - '69 Barracuda's. Especially in Formula S trim. They're definitely one of the coolest pony musclecars. I can imagine with a 383 that thing can really haul the mail too.

    I did not know this video existed until a few days ago when some of my husband's friends were talking about it. Imagine my surprise to see my car! Really cool, thanks ScottieDTV! 1968 was the first year for the big blocks in the 'Cudas, most of them 383s. There were a few hemis, around 50, but they were not street legal and could only be sold to licensed racers. Formula S was the designation for the sports version of the barracuda with upgraded suspensions and V-8 engines. In 1969, Plymouth changed the name of the Formula S package to 'Cuda since everyone referred to the cars that way anyway.

    The formula S refers to the suspension. My friend got a brand new 383 formula S convertible , canary yellow, with torqueflite auto for his high school graduation present. I drove it and it was a great car.

    Mopar till I die. I will have this car. This is my dream car. I'm on my second Challenger now 2013/2018. If they brought back a nicer looking version of the formula S Cuda, I am trading in immediately. The Challenger of today looks much more aggressive and bad ass than the old ones. I would love it if they did the same thing for this car.

    This is one really beautiful '68 Formula S Plymouth Barracuda!
    I'm a huge Mopar fanatic and I've always thought these Barracudas were in my Top-5 List of some of the most beautiful Mopar designs ever made! Sure I love the '70-'74 'Cuda bodystyles but I think these 2nd generations were the best-looking IMO!
    Thanks for sharing this one, ScottieDTV!!! =D

    Whatever he does, Scottie, I hope he puts the rear glass in a safe place-I was watching one of those rehab shows on cable(I won't mention the show, as I'm sure they don't want to be reminded)...they were doing a '67, the shop foreman told them to BE CAREFUL W/THE REAR WINDOW! Guess what? They put the glass on a couple of sawhorses, someone bumped into it, & they spent another week sourcing a nos one. But as always, Scottie-Great Job!

    so this is a formula S 68.... that combo of "options" is a bit on the rare side... obviously the formula S cars where a sports package that included, hp, handling, & braking... power drum brakes for the first gens (1964-1/2- 1966) with dealer installed front power disc brake options. from 1964 through to 1969 the Automatic transmissions where a special ordered options on each car's build sheets. & so was that center console. these A-body barracudas weren't popular back in the days, & obviously as time advances they become more rare. from 1964-1966 the ford Mustang outsold all Chrysler corporation's A-bodies by 8to1... for every 8 ford Mustangs that sold, Chrysler would sell one plymouth Valiant, or dodge dart, or plymouth barracuda. i currently own 4 plymouth barracudas.. a rare '64-1/2, two 1965s, & a unique special ordered 1966 with an extremely low production number. the three: (64, & both 65s) are factory v8, floor shift 4spd cars.

    • @andersonsrae

      +Fred Garvin It was faster than the Mustangs or GMs of the day. The body is very light so many of these cars were modified with 440s or Hemis and used on the track. The 383 is quite a beast for a stock car. Thanks.

    From what I have been told even back in the day. Those cudas were so bad a$$ that in some states and counties they were un insurable.After around 1969 Chrysler had to figure out "tricks" to fool them..to get them/keep them on the road. ...

    • @johnsaum1260
      @johnsaum1260 4 года назад

      They really were not much faster than the 340, if any due to the restricted exhaust system. That's why they had a lower horsepower rating than the 383 roadrunner even though both engines were the same.
