Today we get to sample fishing out at Oahu's North Shore. We started at Sunset beach and made our way to Waimea Bay. Wanted to have a meetup, but small kine locked down still. Ended up being a beautiful day and we nailed a few nice fish with the use of sand turtles!

Drag the shrimp right on the wet sand when the waves recede back into the ocean. You’ll see a bunch of sand crabs

Ive only been to Hawaii once the big island. I seen some guys said they caught something called soldier fish in a cave. Do peopl do that there? Go diving to catch fish in a cave? Is that a good fish to eat? It was on one of the beaches with black sand
Here in SoCal we always call them sand crabs.
You use um for bait too?
@@ShakaFishing yup, real popular bait for all the local surf species. The soft shell and the ones with roe are the prized baits.
Soft shell sand crabs are great for catching perch and also stripped bass here in the bay area. Can't wait to go fishing in Hawaii again

You're allowed 2 poles per person in the Bay. East of that is Pupukea Marine Conservation District, all the way to Ke Iki beach is no fishing up to 100 yards off shore.
